His distribution is excellent. Started quite a few fast breaks alone on the basis of that.

Not really concerned with DDG leaving because Romero is a quality replacement.

Would love him to be our #1 if the opportunity arises.

I strongly disagree with that. Don't get me wrong I do rate Romero but I don't think he's consistent enough to be our number 1 on a permanent basis. I recall when he had a run in the first team (when DDG/Real transfer saga was taking place) he wasn't great. Certàinly in that Swansea game where he was at fault for both goals.

Good again today. We're very lucky to have a backup keeper of this quality. As many others have mentioned, his distribution is impressive. Something that was especially evident today.

I just love how he command 18 yard box, it was refreshing to see our keeper come out and catch the ball.

He was new to the league, and was thrown into the deep end suddenly when LVG decided DDG was going to sit out the first few games.

Once he's had the time to adjust, I have a hard time recalling him making a big mistake.

4 goals in 10 games, last season. 3 in 12, this season. That's 7 goals conceded in 22 starts for United, 15 clean sheets. Never conceded more than on goal in a game. Pretty good record.

He conceded 2 in our 2-1 loss to Swansea last season

Being a number two and coming every so often in suits him, perfect second choice keeper. Nowhere near good enough to be number one for any length of time though.

"Nowhere near" is being very unfair on him.

When you write it out like that then that's pretty amazing

Fair play to Romero

Although most of those games were the 'easier' ones, it's still a good record.

The guy has played in world cup final, and only conceded to an unsavable goal. His international credential is excellent with Argentina NT.

Always though he was decent with the ball on the deck. Didn't realise he was so good kicking the ball out of his hands. Very good performance today.

It's one area I think he is an improvement on De Gea.

De Gea is very assured, very tidy and has good accuracy but I think Romero has a bit of urgency and adventure to his distribution that can give the side a bit of excitement and a kick up the arse every now and again

The defense is much better, if I had to choose between Romero and a huge fee that would pay for a quality striker vs DDG, at this point I'd take Romero and the striker. Maybe DDG would save us five goals over the course of the season but even one better finisher would easily offset that number.

DDG is better, but Romero is probably top 10 in the PL.
Must be sad for Liverpool with their crap gk's, while our nr. 2 is top 10 in the PL....ish :)

How many are better than him? Courtois and Lloris, yeah. Not many others. Cech has been quite poor this season. Defo not any of the Pool jokers. Hes in the top 5, in my opinion.

best no.2 and i would take only DDG Courtois LLoris Butland and maybe Heaton ahead of him.

Credit LVG for getting him on free .

Reliable, commanding in set-piece, solid, good distributions and that block-save  superb reaction.

I feel more confident with him than De Gea this season who imo is having a poor form considering his world class standard.

Our attacking play is also more fun with his impressive flowing distributions.

Credit to LVG I suppose  Romero could even be our best back-up keeper ever.

Seriously warming up to Romero now. Has been reliable when called upon.
Probably the best back up keeper in the league.

Only stinker I remember him having was that game against Swansea, should never have let that Gomes goal in.

He's been great recently though, does everything without fuss. I think he's actually improved a lot since being with us. They do say goalkeepers get better with age, but he seems to be concentrating much better. I guess playing for a bigger club and knowing he HAS to impress when he gets the chance keeps him on his toes.

Pleased him for him and that Jose recognises that.

Anderlecht 1:1 Man Utd
Can't fault the fella, I like him he looks like he's pilled up to the eyeballs.

I really think De Gea should play in the Europa League. He is a real match winner. Romero is not. Let Romero play some matches in the league instead.

I thought he was shaky today actually. Spilled more than a couple of balls he should have handled and got a bit lucky.

I'd put De Gea in for the semis and the final, if we get there. Can't risk not playing the best GK in the World at that stage imo.

I think he was very good today controlled the area very well. Couple of good punches and good saves..

Only one spill after a good low hard shot..

Looked proper dodgy at times tonight, resorted to punching everything in the second half. It's all well and good being loyal to a keeper in a cup competition but De Gea should be starting in the semi final.

He's been very solid in Europa. He's very good at coming out and winning the high ball.
More like punching it, he's been good overall but definitely don't want him replacing Dave. Great sub keeper but he makes me nervous at times.
