Sergej Milinkovic Savic

How the feck would we field a balanced 11 if that were actually true. Can't see any weird formations being tried next season. I suppose hypotheically you could play like Fergie used to 4-4-1-1 and have Bruno play the Rooney role.

--------------------------------- Martial------------------------------
--------------------------------- Bruno ------------------------------
Rashford----------Pogba----------Savic---------Sancho

alternative to Grealish at about the same price?..same age and more gifted than Jack

I don't think the asking price for Grealish is reputable and I actually think Grealish might be the better player.

That's a line-up destined to fail.

Savic's best role is behind the striker. Him and Pogba in a 2 man midfield is a disaster.

It's a nonsense rumor.

Agreed, just trying to work out how you'd field those 3 like the tweet stated. Would be totally the wrong direction when it looks like we're starting to work towards a really great balance.

Yeah, Grealish is good but SMS is much more dynamic and athletic. If they're the same price I'd have SMS every day, but this transfer doesn't make sense. SMS will not be happy to rotate in and out of the team whereas I think Grealish might be happier to accept a role like that.

Maybe they are looking a Pogba replace in case he doesn't want to extendend his contract? I don't know really.

Be nice to have a dominant threat from set-pieces and, unlike someone like Fellaini, this guy can actually play.

He is not more gifted than Grealish, he is just an advanced Fellaini.
He is not really a special player, bang average.

He couldn't expect to come in and start for us. If rumours are to be believed, then I can imagine he'd be brought in to rotate with Bruno/Pogba.

You know it ain't happening when there's a running 3 year thread about a player in the transfer forum.

Serious question, is this guy actually any good? Does anyone watch him week in, week out and can honestly say without any bias that he's a top player?

I remember watching him about a year ago during an international and couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

I could have sworn I saw a tweet here recently saying that he wants to stay at the club for a long time. Why do these journos even bother making it up?

What nonsense.

He's not a holding midfielder.
I'm fairly sure he can play there fairly competently. I remember watching him fairly deep last season and at times this season with Luis Alberto and Parolo/Lucas slightly further forward at times. He's arguably better further forward but he can play deeper. I'm not sure about the balance of a SMS-Pogba-Bruno midfield but SMS has a lot of attributes that Matic has alongside arguably a better passing range.

I personally didn't want us to sign him as a Pogba replacement a few summers back and I thought he was fairly overrated. But after watching him a little more these past few seasons, he's the real deal. Still not as good as Pogba but arguably more complete when considering defensive output.

A poor mans Pogba. Would take him as a squad player, but Lazio would probably want more than 50M so he'll be stuck there before probably moving to another italian club in a couple of years.

Took the press a while to bring this name out of the woodwork

Another vastly overpriced, overhyped player from a piss-poor Italian league. No thanks.

I dont think you have seen him play too many times/if at all to call him an "advanced Fellaini" ?

Must say I've only seen him at the world cup and he was average at best in his performances. Would rather take Sander Berge who's been quality since coming to England.

He is a complete midfielder. Would take him over Jack but I think it's made up...

Yeah he was awful at the World Cup as well and that was the summer Lazio wanted 100 million plus wasnt it

Ive no doubt we looked as a Pogba alternative but moved on when Pogba stayed/Jose left.

Hes one of those players that the links to will be endlessly recycled.

Would take him over Van de Beek for sure. Grealish not sure.

But it ain't happening anyway. I expect he will stay and then move to Inter/Juve at some point

Didn't they want €100m for him the other year?

I think there's only big interest from Juventus for this lad, not really much interest outside of Italy.

No chance of this happening. Worth offering Lingard and Pereira in a straight exchange though..... fair deal right??

Talented, but I don't think he has the mentality to play for United. I doubt we are even looking at him right now, would make no sense.

If Pogba and Bruno are here, we have no need for this guy. You cannot have 80 million plus sitting on the bench like that.

He's class, but don't see the benefit of paying upwards of 60M for a guy that will have to fight for a place over 2 more favoured players. He's better than Fred but we've already got a 50M bench player.

Would be interested if Fred was a make weight....say Fred and £20m? Sorts out the cover for Bruno and Pogba nicely, reduces the roster bloat and doesn’t eat into the transfer kitty too much.
