Scott Parker to United?

For trophies he could do worse than United but, if he also has England aspirations for Euro 2012 then being a squad player won't help his cause.

I just think W. Ham are going to milk him for all his worth and no way we'll pay their valuation which will be quite high - though not sure of which other top clubs in the PL that would pay their valuation. Outside of Spurs, I can't think of another club where he'd be a vast improvement over what they have - even Arsenal who could do with a bit more bottle.

I agree with that, most people seem to think he will be cheap, i tend to think reasonable is the best we can hope for. So i can see WHam wanting about £10m for him, which i feel may be a little too steep.

£8m is probably a fair price imo.

Just on the England issue, i can't really see how him being at Utd could affect his England career. If it is simply down to the amount of games played, i honestly believe he would get more than enough opportunities to impress Capello, and he would be impressing while performing at a higher level.

Tbh there have not been many English players playing for Utd, who do not get more than their fair share of England call ups, in fact it is usually a move to a bigger club such as Utd, that more often than not increases the chances of a potential call up.

We don't need another central midfield squad player. Especially not at his age and on his wages.

All of our midfielders are squad players. How often throughout the season does SAF stick with the same team?

Parker would give an opportunity to rest Carrick, no player in our current squad has the ability to screen the back 4 as Carrick does, and when he is not playing the defence looks exposed and we have shipped goals, especially away from OT.

Horrible, horrible thread.

OP you need to visit specsavers.

anyone hear anything more about this today?

I think my mate's winding me up and i certainly don't want parker to come to united, but there's no truth to this...is there?

I seriously hope not.

Lets improve the midfield the way we're improving the defense. Top young talent.

My exact words when I saw this thread was Oh feck Off

I stand by that

This thread needs a title change to put it in line with the Charlie Adam one, my heart almost did one when I saw it pop up. :(

A decent player but no-where near the (Football Writers) best player in the Prem last year... what a fecking joke that was. Fletch is a better player than Parker & our club needs to upgrade what we already have!

If we were gonna go for someone like Parker, but only better - then Daniel De Rossi is the man we want. I'd love him here with Sneider aswell of course

Parker is just the flavor of the month.

I fully expect him to be mediocre next season and once again people will forget he even exists.

Now we've signed Jones this would be a very pointless signing.

You guys are nuts, this is the FWA Player of the Year we're talking about here! Stan Matthews, Nat Lofthouse, Bobby Moore, the Charltons, Bestie, Keegan, Dalglish, Shearer, Eric, Keano, Bergkamp, Henry, Ronaldo, Rooney, Parker :drool:

Notice how seamlessly his name blends in.

You muppets can shove yer Modrics, Sneijders and Schweinsteigers up your brown eye for all I care. When the feck were they voted Charlton Athletic Player of the Year, PFA Young Player of the Year, Prem League Player of the Month for Feb (arguably the toughest month IMO) and, above all, Hammer of the Year 3 years running? If his name was Scottaldo Matthewdona Parkessi you'd all be wetting your pants at the mere thought of this maestro in a United shirt.

How the feck is he gonna put the washing on the bloody clothes line then?

This is hardly ideal now is it?

I actually wouldn't mind Fergie taking a punt on him if we can't get any midfielders. He'll be on the cheap at about 6m and can play football abit, certainly a box to box type of player

Well theres a ringing endorsement, is this really what Manchester United are reduced to? buying midfielders who can "play football a bit", christ i remember when we had Scholes and Keane in midfield, where have those days gone!

For what its worth we dont need a box to box player anyway, Fletcher and Anderson can do that job, we need someone who's capable of creating chances and scoring goals from that position, we need a playmaker not a clogger.

Those days are gone and we have never even replaced Keane like for like in midfield, we got Carrick as a 'replacement'. And for christ sake, we have bought duds like Miller and Djemba Djemba before, so don't give me that. If we are not going to buy anyone, i reckon Scott Parker will be a very good stop gap for the likes of Pogba and Tunnicliffe for a couple of years if Fergie wants to promote them gradually to the first team. And we definitely need another body there in that area of the pitch. Someone said it above, yeah it's definitely better than Charlie fecking Adam

Wait, let me get this straight. Just because we've bought failures in the past, means we should go and spend money on someone who wouldn't improve us, who really isn't that good on the off-chance that he be a 'stop-gap'.

And we don't need 'bodies'; we need quality. If there isn't any available, then wait till there is. I was under the impression that at Man Utd you don't buy players for its own sake, but only if they improve on what you have.
