Scariest horror film?

oh yeah forgot about 28 Days Later, it was so good I went and saw it in the cinema twice. It freaked me a bit I have to admit.

I was living in Lpool at the time and saw it there after I'd spent 48 hours without any sleep on the monkey bus to Bayer Leverkusen. I was a bit wired when I went in and within about an hour I was scared shitless. I actually went out into the foyer to get a breather but it was full of scallies robbing the pick-and-mix who looked pretty similar to the infected so that didn't help. Slept with the windows firmly shut for a month after that experience.

Showgirls

Realistically, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the best. I also like The Howling and Salem's Lot.

Salems lot(the David Soul one,not the new version).

I used to think Salems Lot was scary but I watched it again a year or two ago and it wasn't scary anymore.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

An American Werewolf in London always kinda creeped me out..."Stick to the road, beware the moors..."

A Tale of Sisters was far better than AUdition.

Neither even begin to compare to Rosemary's Baby though.

No Spoony, still haven't seen Changeling.

The Exorcist

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - you may never want to go near a chainsaw again

The scariest scene I've seen on film is in Sophie's Choice when the prison guard forces Sophie to choose between her 2 children. Chilling.

Blair Witch shit me up good and proper when I watched it at the cinema. I had to get my mate to stay over and share my bed. Top and tail, obviously.

I also though Wolf Creak was pretty feckin scary. I called my mate up to come and stay with me, but he told me to get fecked, after the last time and that.

I absolutely loved Wrong Turn. Me and my ex went and saw it in the cinema and not long after, we managed to get a lend of a copy somebody had, we put it on really late at night and had to turn it off after about 20 mins because it was freaking us out
Wrong Turn 2 is also good I thought, not as good as the first though. Quite gory in this one

A Tale of Two Sisters was brilliant. Not as good as Audition, though. It relies on an unraveling plot.

Has anyone seen "Sleepaway Camp"?

I found the final scene quite shocking, particularly considering the run-of-the-mill slasher-in-a-teen-camp-type-stuff that precedes it.

Yeah that was some scary shit too. My uncle first watched it and he said it would make you never want to go to Australia ever. It takes time for the film to get going but once it does, god damn it's freaky as hell. And also The Candyman. I remember when I was younger and standing in front of the mirror willing myself to say it 5 times to see what happened......I never did get to the 5th time cause I was too scared

the only thing ive found remotely disturbing was 8mm

but only because i was living in Holland at the time and watched it coked off my face

jesus Gal, it doesnt take much to scare you

i have yet to see a scary movie..theyre all tame

Yeah all scary movies I watch are a bit freaky but none of them have been that scary where I couldn't sleep or needed to keep my light on
They don't scare me to that extreme but yeah I do find them a bit freaky when I watch them. Horror movies are my fave, I love the feeling when watching them - that adrenaline rush :D
My cousin is worse, she hates them and she will totally refuse to go and see the Halloween remake because that's the scariest for her.

Me too! I still wouldn't do it now! It's just askin for trouble really, isn't it.

I need to see this flick as I've heard it's excellent.

Read Bret Easton Ellis's book of American Psycho. It's so pornographic (in the real sense) that its unfilmable in full. The film is good but not so horrific as the book.

The regulars at my local are just like those in The Slaughtered Lamb

I'd say Shutter and the original Japanese Ju-On is scarier that A Tale of Two Sisters. Some of the scary scenes of a Tale of Two Sisters were even adapted from Ju-On.

They came out at the same time, not idea how you can say the scary scenes were adapted from Ju-on. And I have to say it was pretty naff, and not scary at all. Another nonsensical Japanese horror, really.

pscyho murder movies aren't in the least bit scary. Texas Chainsaw massacre is almost funny at times. The Amityville Horror is also rubbish, as are the ring and the grudge. If I'm being honest here the scariest movie I've seen is the sixth sense, although that's because I saw it when I was a small kid. I was petrified for the next few months about being in the house by myself.

Ju-On came out in 2000 in Japan. Tale of Two sister in 2003. I'd say Shutter is better than the both of them though. Both are good but I'd say Shutter is better.

Was told that Alone, another Thai film from the director of Shutter is good for a scare as well. There was good words for another Thai horror film, Spirit Of The Victim as well. Haven't watch neither yet though.

Yet to see Shutter. I'll download it again.

I thought you already got Shutter before??? You got any links for Spirit of The victim?? Been trying to look for it, with subtitles of course. No success though.

I had Shutter, but it came without subs. . . I realised after deleting it, that I could attach subs to it.

I haven't found a film scary since I was a kid. I watched Alien when I was about seven and it gave me few nightmares.

Although this isn't a scary film (Twin Peaks - Fire Walk With Me), this scene freaked me out when I saw it:

what the feck was that shit all about!!!

What that is all about is feckin' genius mate! :D Watching something like that in isolation from the rest of the film (and the TV series before it) could be a bit confusing....but believe me, the film is creepy as feck and David Lynch is a god!;)

David Lynch is a god

Couldn't agree more. His films aren't horrific or frightening in the traditional sense, more like disturbing and thought provoking. There's always something in each of his films that makes me squirm in my seat. I still regard Eraserhead as his classic - a weird storyline with a whole cast of weird characters, weird images and weird sounds. Jack Nance's haircut is a peach. Here's a snippet........
