Sarcastic cheering and Ole chants today

Haha is it feck. Ole knows he isn't doing a fine job. He knows the supporters don't think he's doing a fine job.

Do you pay attention to anything he says?

He quite clearly believes he has the support of the fans, he's alluded to it numerous times.

I get we uphold this image (for whatever reasons) that we’re some kind of gentleman/women of football and our fans need to act like it too so fair enough if you don’t want to boo but when I see those idiots applaud Ole off the pitch like everything is alright it aggravates me,

Just stop with the fakeness , the football is atrocious right now and Ole for all the brilliant moments he gave us as a player is paid millions of pounds per year and given millions of pounds to spend on football players to lead this team to some form of glory and is failing bad, like really bad so he’s not doing a good job and it’s alright to say that, you’re not less of a fan for acknowledging what’s right in front of you ffs
Good post.

Stadium regulars are different breed. They've been so brainwashed, they actually believe that booing the manager=not showing support from the club. This has mainly been done because Fergie, more or less, became synanymous with the club and thus booing someone incompetent like Ole would be like booing Fergie because Ole occupies the same position. And for most United fans - Fergie as the manager is all they've known. We're stuck in the past as a club, both inside and out. Prehistoric club, through and through.

You really haven't got got a clue...

There are supporters in the stadium who have been there for 60+ years...we have seen worse things than a run of ten bad games.

Brainwashed? Give your head a wobble.

Yes, they're brainwashed if they're going to politely golf clap this legend as he drags the club down the table, plays players despite being them injured/sick/unfit, refuses to use signings who have cost enormous amounts of money and uses atrocious tactics producing some of the most insipid, passive, cowardly football produced in years.

The welfare of the club comes before any legend's feelings. Sick of this sentimentality.
Shane88, you come off as a little angry and frustrated here.

I think applauding him off is strange, I think you're probably supposed to have earnt applause.

But no, I don't advocate booing him either. It is for the club to take the correct decisions, not for fans to behave in a pantomime like manner, it's just juvenile.

The fact the club don't seem to be be doing that is a source of frustration which is understandable because there seems to be this opinion our board would respond to boos (which I'm not sure is obvious) but it's still not the way to act in my opinion.

You don't have to do anything. Just stand there or leave the ground. I didn't actually think the applause was as much as usual.

I'm not a fan of booing as such, but it seems to be the way that managers get sacked nowadays. Like Nuno the other day, when the fans turn on the manager it's curtains.

Run of ten bad games? More like a run of ten bad years. But I digress... How many of those fans you talk about are 60+ years old? Not many. Most of United's Old Trafford audience is young, vast majority of them probably weren't even alive when Fergie took over the club. Sure, they may be a portion of the fanbase that have witnessed the pre-Fergie years, but it is relatively small in the grand scheme of things. How would that explain the widespread cheer Ole has been receiving for no real reason at Old Trafford?

Every single one of us? Bit of a generalisation there.

Players who join United always talk about how great the match-going fans are. It's a big part of our draw for players that the we're not knee-jerking entitled cnuts.

Liverpool were singing it two weeks ago, and didn’t I read that Leeds were when they played after that?
Pretty sure I read that fans at a Bundesliga game recently were singing it. We're a banter club.

yes thats what i mean. They are all doing the Liverpool chants, both ole at the wheel (to the donnie chant) and give us a wave.

Obviously not every single one. But do you think Madrid fans would stand up for this? This is why they are where they are and we are... well, where we are.

The rift between matchgoers & non-matchgoers is the stuff the board dreams of. My mate has season tickets as does my employer but haven’t bothered going this season as I know I wouldn’t be cheering crap & have seen what happens when you don’t stick to the script in a large crowd. The football has become a trial of attrition for too long, it’s no longer an enjoyable way to spend time watching this nonsense.

Great post. I simply can’t ‘support’ this nonsense in person because it’s indefensible.

Matchgoers are ‘entitled’ to better than what they’ve been subjected to under Ole though. Do you support utter sh*te for the sake of it in other aspects of your life or is it only on weekends that you your live for the approval of seventy-thousand strangers? Strange, strange hill to take a stand on lad.

That's just a talking point because they need to talk about things about the club. Being booed never stopped players from joining Real etc.

I find it utterly baffling that match going fans, who pay actual money to watch the dross Ole has been serving up, refuse to show their discontent to the board, manager or the team, out of some weird notion that "we don't do that kind of thing here - we're better than that!".

Fair enough not booing but clapping him and the team off after that performance today and last week? Jeez...

To each their own I guess.

Mes Que Un Club indeed.

Are there post game fan interviews still? Like there used to be on full time devils, I'd like to hear what Andy Tate has to say about all this...

Liverpool of 90s and 2000s. Back then it was also magnificent atmosphere at Anfield bla bla bla.

I'd prefer they actually come to this club to win. I'm sure Ronaldo is not going to brag about atmosphere, he's there to win trophies.

Why didn’t fans walk out today like they did the other week?

Because we made progress.
Liverpool score was 5-0. This one was 2-0, so we actually did a good job.
Next time, we'll lose 1-0 only and Ole may be given a contract extension.

Opposition fans sarcastically singing about the United manger at Old Trafford is absolutely embarrassing and pathetic. Manchester United were once feared and respected, now we’re the laughing stock of world football.

Times have changed, my friend.
You can't compare the current situation to the situation back in the day.
This is probably the worst I've seen MUFC play.
Today, it felt like Ole set out to get a 0-0 draw and when we lost 2-0, he was relieved that it was a decent scoreline, as opposed to a complete humiliation.
The fans who know about football though could tell what MCFC were doing in the 2nd half, (ie. not take any risks, keep possession and wind down the clock to an easy win).
Even under Jose, in his final days when the players allegedly downed tools, they showed more fight than today.

It means nothing, the majority are still firmly brainwashed...

For the booing him directly. But the majority were being sarcastic and booed overall at halftime. He’d have to be as thick socially as he is a manager to not realise the majority want him out.
