Sanna Marin

if all world leaders had a night out with mandy the world would be a better place

How does she do it? I'm 37 years old and I have no energy for parties. I'm like an old man. After work I just want to relax on the couch and play on my phone. :(

Can't believe all the criticism she's apparently getting just because of this party. Nothing to do with policy, decisions, or political leadership - just this. Silly stuff.

Or that's what I was reading, anyway. Anything I missed? Who are our resident Finns again - @the hea, @massi83?

If all leaders were like her the world would be a bloody amazing place. Imagine it! No worries about nuclear war, food poverty, energy poverty.

There is nothing great about her. Just another politician. During covid everything that made her look good was leaked to the press, and everything bad was deemed confidential (without just reason). Any time there is good news, she is infront of the camera, but bad news have to be delivered by some other minister.

Obviously she is amazing by UK/US standards, but so would plenty others.

There is nothing is this "scandal" but main reason she is partying with d-list celebraties so often seems to be that she has no real friends.

Excellent, like an AI without feelings. Exactly the type of leader the world needs.

It's exactly carrying the undertones of the OTT shit that AOC has received on this side of the Atlantic. A slice of middle-aged anal-retentives with a serious vitamin D deficiency are just jealous.

Yeah, I wasn't saying she is great - I really have no idea, I haven't followed her work/performance at all. Just that, from what I've read about what's happening now, the current criticism has zero actual substance. (Even if there might be a little substance use. :wenger: )

They all look like really annoying cnuts. And before you ask, yes I'm "really fun" at parties.

While I'm not versed well on Finnish politics, although I've heard a lot of Finns don't really have a very high opinion on her, this is not a good look on her at all. As a head of state you represent your country and people. You can't be making silly schoolgirl stuff like this on camera. Being "respectable" is literally one of your main responsibilities being a public official, so it's not just a party. The people she hangs around with in that video are also not exactly the creme de la creme of society. There's even talk of "powder".

So it's not just a silly video and it's not even remotely similar to the AOC situation - a girl just dancing alone on a rooftop or something.

I'll disagree on that, and especially don't see what 'being respectable' has to do with what you do in your own time, and what people you do that with. I personally think it's pathetic to care (as long as she didn't do anything illegal or disrespectful/insulting); but I don't think we'll find a middle ground on that.

I love her and Kaja Kallas

Is this is the worse scandal they can come up with for a PM then I’m very fecking jelous

I volunteer to be her friend. :wenger: I don't speak Finnish, but I knew the former Finnish Foreign Minister's son. Admittedly he was the FM in the 20s and 30s, but we've got that in common. Also, several top Finns play for my local hockey team so she could come watch.

Sure, what you do on your own time, but you would agree that being on camera isn't on your "own time". You're being put out for the world to see. And she as a representative of a country should know better. I don't know if she did anything illegal. Is coke legal in Finland because that's what is suggested in the video? Whether she did coke or not, or her friends did or not, it doesn't really matter. The video is not how a public figure should act on camera, we can at least agree to that? On camera. Let's just remove the private thing out of the way because... well, it isn't exactly private if we two, and the rest of the world, knows about it, is it?

Yep. Our former PM has just been revealed as having secretly sworn himself into 5 additional ministries without telling the existing minister (in most cases) or the public about it.

That said he did feck off on holiday to Hawaii when the entire country was on fire so ...... forget that thought.

Is it "powder gang", jauhojengi, or is it jallujengi? Because both have been suggested, and none of us speak Finnish.

Your point about privacy is pretty weird. It was a private video from a private party. By your logic a PM can't party at all, because it can potentially be leaked and then they're partying in public. Which should also be fine, of course, but that's another matter. Unless you think her behaviour is completely fine both in private and in public as long as it's not on video. Very socially conservative in any case.

The only reason this is getting this much attention is because it's a young woman, if this was your typical politician, a middle aged slightly overweight male no one would give a shit about it.
If she want's to have some drinks and dance a little on her time off, I don't have a problem with that.
