Samu Omorodion Aghehowa

13 goals in 13 Portugal league games

5 in 6 in the Europa.

I mentioned that we should be in for him because he looks really good scoring goals and playing his back to goal. we cant wait for his price to keep going up.

I'm not against it, it's just we seem to buy players with huge deficiencies rather than the stars Brighton buy. Zirkzee's lack of pace and poor aerial ability and Hojlund's first touch, awful aerial ability and technique are some of the worst percentile in the league, these are things they cannot improve on.

I'd ideally want us to strive for players like Caceido before they go to another premier league club.
I keep seeing people saying stuff like this and it blows my mind, countless players have improved these things over time with the right coaching and we are talking about young players. It is fair comment to say that they may not improve as nothing is certain but to categorically state they cannot improve is just not true.

You can't train someone to gain pace and beat players. Nor can you dramatically improve someone's technique, these are things you are blessed with naturally.

Zirkzee cannot suddenly beat players and become fast. Nor can Hojlund control the ball like Berbatov.

Leave Samu alone, he is not going anywhere!
Plus he is 100m not cheaper that Gyokeres.

Well that is a slightly different thing than your initial comment. You mentioned Hojlund not being able to head the ball and that is definitely a trainable skill and certainly his first touch can be improved, not to Berbatov levels but he can improve. Pace is harder but there was an article in the Athletic back when we signed Rasmus that actually covered how he worked specifically on sprint training to raise his speed as it was something he recognized was holding him back.

The ability to improve exists, some of it is coaching and will depend on the ability of Ruben and his coaches to help the players but as we saw in the SAF era, the drive and determination of the players is the ultimate deciding factor. We have anecdotal evidence that Rasmus has that type of character which is hopeful, I don't know anything about Zirkzee in this regard to be fair. I don't discount the possibility that they won't progress but I won't throw them on the trash heap because they are struggling at a time when the team is playing as badly as at any time in the past 40 years.

Well this just isnt true

Do you really believe that if Zirkzee spent 100 hours practicing his first touch to control a pass chipped into him that he wouldnt improve?

The problem in football is usually the player or club doesn't recognize the problem and how to improve. Instead they are working on something else so the time and effort isnt put in to fixing what we might think is their weak point. But months and years of practice, with the correct method of improvement will improve anything.

As for pace, you can improve running technique and explosiveness. You might not go from slow to fast, but you can improve.
