If I remember correctly, he absolutely played us off the park when we played Porto
Ahh, the influx of players from the coaches’ native country
Where have I heard this before?
Actually he was born in Spain, not Portugal. I guess Chelsea had a deal with Athletico for him and it fell through. Tall, Strong, Quick, High Work Rate. That would be a nice change of pace from the short, weak, slow, lazy players that are currently in the squad.
Doubt United can afford him tbh.

Think he was a little raw technique wise though. Maybe not ideal for the amounts that he would be going for. The moment for that particular player has passed. If we add a striker, it shouldn't be a young one but one in his peak or shortly after. No point bringing in another Hojlund figure into the mix when we already have two of them which already is one too many. Hojlund needed a partner to take the pressure off from the begin with, this player should be brought in, not Zirkzee. And certainly not Samu or Gyokeres or whoever has a decent streak going right now.Actually he was born in Spain, not Portugal. I guess Chelsea had a deal with Athletico for him and it fell through. we’re chock-full of pussies, does that help?A club needs a big kitty to do any shopping in Portugal.

He was born in Spain and joined Porto this summer after a move fell through with Chelsea.Ahh, the influx of players from the coaches’ native country

Not exactly. There was something up with his medical if I recall but nevertheless Chelsea basically ended up choosing Joao Felix over this guy. Not looking like a great decision right now.
They sold him for €15m plus 50% sell on clause. Without the clause, they would still asking €40m to Porto. So if some club activate his €100m release clause, Atletico would still get additional €50m so at the end Atletico might end up getting more fees than €40m out of him.Not exactly. Atletico claimed to value Samu at €40m because they were hoping to swap him for Connor Gallagher without paying a fee. Eventually somebody at Chelsea realised that was ridiculous, so they pulled the plug at the medical stage. Samu ended up moving for much much less than €40m (to Porto) and Chelsea got their money for Gallagher. The João Felix thing was after all of that, I think.
I don't think anybody is expecting the release clause to be activated, but yeah, kind of that too. They sold him for €15m plus 50% sell on clause. His number is impressive so far this season and he already showed us how he could bully some PL defenders against us at his age. If it keeps continue after two seasons, I expect Porto will only let him go if a club active the release clause.I don't think anybody is expecting the release clause to be activated, but yeah, kind of that too.
I can only remember exactly one €100m+ clause ever being triggered, but if you think Samu will be the second, fair enough. It could happen. His number is impressive so far this season and he already showed us how he could bully some PL defenders against us at his age. Very different profile to either Hojlund or Chido Obi (does not want to use the Martin BTW), Chido Obi is not ready to for regular 1st team action anyway although he may get some minutes, likewise Biancheri who is probably just as ready for teh 1st team but gets less headlines. He was impressive in the Porto game. But we already have three project strikers if you include Obi-Martin . Unless we selling Zirkzee and Hojlund this window very unlikely
Boniface has been injured quite a bit..Very different profile to either Hojlund or Chido Obi (does not want to use the Martin BTW), Chido Obi is not ready to for regular 1st team action anyway although he may get some minutes, likewise Biancheri who is probably just as ready for teh 1st team but gets less headlines.
Samu is much more physical, it all depends on price if we can effectively swap Zirkzee for Samu it would be a hell of a deal, but I suspect even if Porto are willing to accept lower than the release clause it will not be low enough, Victor Boniface has a similar profile and is more established/experienced and would be available for less than Samu, TBH either would be a big upgrade for the squad
Ironically he has yet to break his boni faceBoniface has been injured quite a bit..

Wrong age profile. Can’t keep stockpiling on young strikers with barely any skin in the game uptop.
Will say though, just by a brief look at the stats, he looks quite the threat in the air. Rare you see strikers coming through these days who actually want to head the ball. We’ve got two big chaps uptop and both hate it.
