SAF's worst signing

Blomvquist (or however you spell his name)
or jordi....

But in fairness - they didnt really get the chance to shine!

Blomqvist! Worst signing! He was great in his first season at United and was even beginning to challenge Giggsy for his first team place. Ok he was only with us a year but he was still a good buy.

Without a doubt Taibi was the worst signing SAF has made. £6 million for a load of Italian crap!

What about Prunier I think his name was (only on loan I know) who played v Spurs. Now he was PANTS! <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

Taibi was not that bad, he did very well @ Anfield for example. Prunier was on loan so didn't count.

People saying people like Jordi and Jesper are obviously glory boys. Some of Fergie's 1980s buys were hardly top draw and didn't bed in, all the buys from Forest for example (bar Roy Keane).

In recent times, it's got to be Karol Poborsky.

Always made the same mistake - allowed himself to get forced far off to the right where he invariably lost the ball.

Hopeless.

And he had rubbish hair.

One could also say Bosnich was a bad signing!

Hmm, at least you know where you are with Becks' hair (i.e. interested). Poborsky's hair was just basically evil.

Come to think of it, wasn't Robbie Savage signed to us as an apprentice about the time Karol was flouncing down the wing (before losing the ball?). It all connects.

Forlan's going to provide some follicular entertainment too, I can see. Keano needs to take him to one side, explain that's not how things are done around here.

I'm very glad to see RVN's lost the hairband BTW.

No, I am not a hairdresser.

Disagree there

Taibi's name is still chanted at Old Trafford when a keeper makes a right blunder...

Eric Cantona, fecker couldnt kick shit from a Canary,
plus he was over priced and had an unsettling affect on the team
;)
ahh, bedtime <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

He didn't get time to make amends tho. His errors were no worse than Fab's. He's doing great stuff at the moment apparently.

he did indeed, Terry Gibson was useless too, hardly surprising he got the sack and we were nearly relegated.

Naa, thats just typical Taibi. Fine at the smaller clubs, but just can't cut it in the Man United's and Milan's of this world.

Has to be Leighton. taibi was a gamble. fergie had worked with leighton and really had no excuse.

Read Fergie's book . Leighton played brilliantly for Fergie for years. He just lost it a bit at the end! Mostly he was brilliant.

YOU FOOL!!!

This guy was one of my faves because everytime he played he played his heart out. He gave us width when Giggs was out and he played well. His crosses were way better than Giggsy's, he beat players quite often and he tackled back. He played a major part in us winning the Treble.

Its a shame that he was hit by injuries so badly cos he had many great years service left in him. I am so gutted we lost this guy cos as everyone knows we have no backup for Giggs. This guy was more than a backup, he was a challenge and just what Giggs needed to fire him up for the Treble season.

We shouldve kept him on a rolling contract cos we've been found lacking in width too often this season. At least he should've been given a chance, he seems ok at Everton. Wish him the best.

players that should never have worn the shirt(goram, jordi)

I'd be tempted to say Veron except he wasn't a Fergie signing at all.
Fergie wanted Vieria...Christ!...he even wanted Petit before Veron.
Veron was always Kenyon's baby...trying to prove he could pull off such a mega money move in his first year as Chief Exec.

As for the shite players...Prunier/Taibi/Greening

Poborsky and Cruyff were both quality, just didn't fit into the way we played.

I see your point, I guess you just hit a nerve, had a real soft spot for the guy and hated the way we lost him. Tragic if you will. Bit like Dream Team at the moment if you watch it, poor Peggsy! :(

My definition would be someone who was a total disaster and didnt work out whatsoever. Taibi, Goram - those kinda players. Blomqvist was a good servant and won us the Treble. I reckon all who took part in that season should go down in history as legends, Yorke included.

you bracket Jordi, a guy who was loyal for 4 years, had skills and scored goals, in the same category as an out of condition pub goalkeeper?

shame on you sir

<img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

I wasn't too keen on Poborsky; apparently he's doing well for Lazio (I think that's where he was last).

There aren't that many donkeys in the list of Fergie's signings really with only Taibi and Ralphie standing out as true failures. Webb & Wallace tried but were never really good enough , Poborsky, Cruyff, Fortune and a number of others have the talent and put in the effort but never quite gelled or suited the game plan whilst Greening was overrated as a youth signing and never lived up to expectations. Not bad out of over 100 players to have served under Fergie.

Especially when you look at Fat Rons signing record who in 29 signings only managed to find half a squad worthy of the Red shirt in Stapleton, Robbo, McGrath, Moses, Muhren, Strachan and Olsen. He then adorned his squad with such glittering luminaries as Alan Brazil, Terry Gibson (Colin was OKish), Mark Higgins, Davenport, Peter Barnes and the to cap it all he even managed to spend a quarter of a million on Peter Beardsley (a player of true class) and played him once before letting him go for nowt.

As for the comment on Forest signings Fergie only signed Webb and Keano (hardly disasters), Davenport was Fat Rons doing and prior to that the real joker in the pack was Birtles who I believe Sexton was responsible for and at least Forest were good enough to pay us something to take Webb and Birtles back.

Thank feck for Fergie I say, and thanks again Cathy :D

definitely ralph milne....winger, my ass <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> and that andy goram fellow....ok so it was a loan signing, but goram made David James look like Jesse not Calamity James....ay caramba!!

His keeper signings have been black and white.. with the Schmeichel signing amongst his best and Taibi his worst... But Goram must have been the dodgiest... I had the feeling that Fergie had lost a gamble against Goram and that the prize for Goram was to wear the United shirt...

Prunier actually mate, he played two games for United, the first v QPR and he nearly scored and had a good game. The second was v Spurs away which we lost 4-1 and he was shocking though the rest of the team didn't help either (Schmeichel injured in the warm up etc.)

Though he did play in Fergie's testimonial if I'm not mistaken.

1 bad game out of 2, doesnt make a shocking buy IMO, especially as we didn't actually buy him.
