Sadio Mane | Performances

Tell me - do you think Kane would have left Spurs for Bayern to win a few easy league titles? Of course he wouldn't.

Gerrard, had he left Liverpool would have joined the best side in the PL - at the time arguably the best league in the world. Not Germany. Kane wanted to Join Man City, one of the best three sides in Europe. It's not a comparison to this.

This takes me back to the days when Glaston said Coutinho wouldn't join Bayern because it's atleast equal to it a step down from Spurs, then Bayern beat them 7-2 in the UCL.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work this out.
Mane and Salah want what the going rate for what they are worth, Liverpool are refusing to pay it, so they want to leave.

This bit, and some extra stuff about not having any respect for Liverpool's top brass after certain situations happened.

Wow, just shows how difficult it is to keep a team together. Why would Senegal fans want him to move? Unless, it's related to Salah rivalry. Crazy

And they are absolutely correct. Vvd should also start making noise  .

They quite rightly know that they’d be on nearly double at an oil club, and at nearly 30 they probably want a slice before they decline.

I guess playing in a league like the Bundesliga which is still world class and has a high enough standard of competition, but is not as brutal as the Premier League, is seen as good from the perspective of the national team maybe.

Won't likely be that. Senegalese are a proud, easily offended people. They probably just feel he's not respected enough.

I mean, just a couple of years ago their president was saying something along the lines of how cool it would be if he signed for real madrid and all of senegal wanted that or something...

So that part isn't really new at least

Well I can definitely understand that as he has clearly been unpaid relative to his talent, performances and record for Liverpool and compared to numerous other less productive players in the Premier League, and of course he has taken a back-seat to Salah in terms of adulation, recognition etc.

So him getting paid more in line with his true worth, and being the 'main man' (at least attacking-wise) at another club that's still a European heavyweight, would definitely be appealing.

This is exactly the reason Ronaldo and Rooney wanted to leave United under Glazers. All the talk about childhood favourite club for Ronaldo are not the full picture. Spanish and Italian clubs paid the money which Glazers didn't. Ronaldo got that big rise when he joined RM which is way above United pay scale. Rooney flirted with City and got the big contract in United.
Liverpool will end up the same way as glazers if they don't pay the top dollar, they will be on top till their recruitment is spot on.

in senegal the feeling is that Klopp tend to replace him too often compared to Salah, He was not celebrated for winning the afcon, he isnt paid enough compared to other players. Sadio is not very outspoken as such the senegalese feel that because of that he is treated “badly” as compared to Salah and other liverpool stars.

Found myself out with the brother of one of the LFC assistant coaches last night. Reckons Mane decided to go 2 or 3 months ago and has checked out a bit since then. He doesn't want to play second fiddle to Salah anymore and wants to be the main man at Bayern.

They will have to pay out to keep Salah, who also wants to go, but the worry is VVD and others will then want a bump.

Do Liverpool not have a strong negotiating position? Which club will be coming for Salah this summer if Bayern goes for Mane?

I don't see Real/Barca/City coming for Salah.

Liverpool have gained success because of players like mane, salah and vvd. Unlike other clubs, these players should demand their money for bringing success to an almost midtable team. It is not like Real Madrid where they were already a successful team. Liverpool owes to them, not the other way around.

These numbers are according to Martyn Ziegler, via Companies House, and they offer an insight into which clubs are overachieving and which are underachieving this season.
  1. Manchester City - £355m
  2. Chelsea - £343m
  3. Manchester United - £323m
  4. Liverpool - £314m
  5. Arsenal - £244m
  6. Tottenham Hotspur - £205m
Its a myth that Liverpool don't pay big wages.

Or they have more first team quality players in their squad so they aren't paying "big wages" to any one player but are paying above average wages to more players than most clubs?

I'm sure it's been said dozens of times on here but there are still some hard of understanding.

Liverpool pay their players a ridiculous sum in bonuses when the players win big things. Huge. But when they don't win they get paid a 'paltry' salary. The numbers above include those huge one off payouts.

Had we won the quadruple or even the treble I wouldn't be surprised if it numbers jumped above all the other clubs. But only after winning everything in sight. Not before. It's probably why Salah and Mane mainly are thinking about money again because they didn't get their massive bonuses.

He will be a huge loss. I know Liverpool fans will underplay him leaving but as a rival fan I am glad if he leaves. Jota is not on Mane's level and Diaz well too soon to say anything.

Most of the contracts are based on bonuses, no player is getting 100% money mentioned in the contract every year. It's just that Liverpool have better PR than any other club and their journalists do very good job in that propaganda.

Yet the wage bill for season 2020/21 where they won nothing was well over 300m.

For the 2020/21 period the wage bill at Anfield has fallen £11m, from £325m to £314m. When Liverpool won the Champions League in 2019 there were significant squad bonuses that needed to be paid to players upon winning the competition, something that was factored into the wage bill rise in 2019/20.

This is the most patronizing thing I have heard in a while. All hail the mighty Liverpool for inventing performance based pay for employees. If only others knew about it earlier.

Perhaps Klopp did offend them calling AFCON little tournament, which Senegal ended up winning?

From official financial reports
Liverpool wage for 2020-21 - 314 million
Manutd wage for 2020-21 - 322 million.

Both finished in top 4, didn't win anything. So difference was 8 million. Somehow all Liverpool star players are paid 100K per week, Manutd bench players are paid 150K. People will believe anything even when official report says something else.

I stand corrected, though with the majority of our players getting less than 200k and the rest less than 100k I didn't think our numbers would be this high. I'll have to check if some of the 2020 bonuses were staggered into 2021 numbers.

Regardless, we are challenging City for the league title (by a single point) and we know the City salary is almost half the real number. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

The remainder of clubs should be nowhere these numbers. Shameful.

Or maybe you should check why journalists are reporting low numbers, like saying Salah was earning 80K per week when he signed for Liverpool when he was already at 125K per week at Roma.

Agree with the other point, Liverpool are getting return for their money spent.
