The next 'big thing' in the Championship that some will think, " Is he good enough for Utd?" Who knows? We never envisaged dan James playing for Utd let alone the Pl but here he is
James in the championship didnt get anywhere near this lad.
Seems like he is going to Chelsea will be interesting to see him in the PL. Hopefully they get promotion and he stays there
That was the Championship. A lot of things go to make up a PL player, even more to make a PL player playing for one the world's most famous clubs.
Grealish,Zaha et al looked good if not great in the Championship so yes he could be anything.
It's just the nature of the Caf to see a player tearing it up in there and all of a sudden he's top 5 club quality...
Scored another cracker of a goal. This guy is a very, very skillful player. I would like to see him at United and see what he can do. I would rather have someone with his skills than James with just his pace.
I was simply pointing out that the James comparison didnt make sense. He wasnt that special in the championship

But if they don't get a chance at this level, we'll never know how they're going to perform. With his skillset, I would love to see him being given a chance.

James has been pretty poor to be honest, not the greatest example to make.
We stopped doing loans so that won't wash - what's the point in developing over teams players for them and paying them for the privilege too! Got rid of the Academy for similar reasons after losing players to United and that lot down the road in blue!
Said though - what a player love his enthusiasm, attitude and nutmegs! If he has to leave I'd love it to be to united!
Definitely an exciting player but I have a feeling he's headed to Chelsea. I don't think he's on United's radar. We seem to be blindsided by Sancho. I won't be surprised if he's the only person we end up getting this transfer window. Whoever ends up with Said is getting one cracking player. He's got shades of Hazard
From what I've heard, many Brentford fans think Benrahma is class technically but flatters to deceive too often and that Mbeumo has the higher ceiling as an all round player. I might have totally misunderstood their comments but that's the jist of what I heard.
EDIT - This was prior to the restart. It seems that they reckon Mbeumo has struggled a bit since then whereas Benrahma has added incredible work rate and seems determined to end the season strongly and play for a top move away.

Ever since he has arrived that's how I've been describing him to fans who know nothing but the Premier League
the "Championship Hazard"Benrahma's a class act and has been Brentford's best player all season. It would be nice to see them get promoted and for him to stay but if they don't he'll definitely be off. He's too good to stay in the Championship.
Well that's an interesting point actually, Mbuemo has settled into the English game a lot faster than Benrahma did when he arrived in 2018 that is certainly true, Benrahma took a while to adapt. Since the re-start though he (Said) has to be the most inform player in the country and certainly in the league.
They are certainly different types of players in that Said has far more tricks to his game and Mbuemo is the quicker and stronger of the two. I would also say that Mbuemo is the more natural finisher of the two with Said having done a lot of work to get to the standard he is currently setting. Mbuemo has come with a much bigger reputation than Benrahma and it raised a few eyebrows in France when he came to us but Said has that bit of magic about him. Said is head and shoulders above any other player I've seen at Griffin Park but can see why people see Mbuemo as having the potential to go on to bigger and better things.
Seems more talented than James. Wouldn’t mind him for like 15m. His output of 16 goals and 9 assists isn’t bad either.
So does talent. Which is why James has looked distinctly average and limited for us aside form the first 2 months.
I think a phone call from Giggs had something to do about it. James offers nothing but speed off the bench. If he doesn't have space to run into, he has nothing to offer and can be nullified easily.
Vastly superior to James on the technical level in fact the only thing James has on him is pace and being a few years younger.
£15m well depends how much the pandemic has deflated transfer fees but £20m plus addons would start a conversation, Villa tried and failed to get him for around £15m already last summer.
Villa was looking to have him replace Grealish. I think he could be a much cheaper option than Grealish.
How does he compare to players like Boufal and Ghezzal?
Why not at United, If James was signed and given chances with nothing but his speed as his asset, why not Benrahma. As others have stated, Unless James has space to run into, he is easily nullified as the premier league has shown, but a player with technical skills is far harder to mark out of the game.
Also the thing about players from weaker leagues not being up to the standards, I don't go for that. We had Schneiderlin who I thought was absolute class stink it up, yet we signed player a player like Ole from Norway, Schmeichel from Denmark and they served United well for a long time. It depends on the mentality of the player and how they settle. Even as recently as Fred, he signed from Ukraine, looked clueless at the start but is now a useful player as he knuckled down and worked hard.
If the player has an attitude problem, then that's a different matter.

Not saying he’s not good by any stretch of the imagination. Just seen loads of these threads over the years and I’m yet to see a recent one really smash it in the PL.
If our ceiling is the likes of Sancho then I’m not seeing Benrahma being bought.

We took a chance on James and are developing him into a better player. James also has an immense attitude and workrate, a desire to improve. It's clear to see why we took that chance on him.
Agree with the second part, mentality is absolutely vital. Good examples there too, add Depay to the stink list. One of Europe's biggest talents but he just couldnt apply himself here.
I've paid more attention to Benrahma since all this talk, he's a flair player with an eye for a trick. He looks a decent player. I think his game would need a lot of work to step up to the PL, even more so to a Chelsea or even us. There's no chance half his nutmegs and tricks come off against better defenders in the premiership. Reminds me a bit of Taarabt. Moments of magic in him.
If we couldnt get Grealish - he wouldnt be a bad option but i'd imagine Ole would want a more rounded player this time around

Don't think he'll be going to Chelsea, seems like nonsense. If Brentford get promoted he'll likely stay another season. If they don't then he'll probably move to a Leicester type team.
Tbf, he's had injuries and he's still only 20 years old (just turned 20 in May). He's with Spurs btw.
If Brentford get promoted, the ideal scenario would be seeing him and Mbeumo play in the Premier league, for Brentford. Not like they're the next Messi or Neymar. Surely clubs can wait and watch them for a season to see how they cope in the top flight? Not an easy step up from the Championship. But hey, I guess someone will take a punt to try and get in while it's cheaper.
Chelsea hardly need even more attacking players, they have: Mount,CHO,Pulisic, Barkley,Willian,Ziyech and Werner. Billy Gilmour is coming through while Loftus-Cheek can hardly get a game and he has a lot of PL experience. Meanwhile they're fragile at the back.
While I agree he looks immensely talented, I've no idea where he'd fit into our side. He be on the bench most of the time if we go with Mason,Martial and Marcus. He takes free kicks but isn't going to dislodge Bruno. That would be a waste IMO.

I love a good nutmeg. Easily one of the most effective, and at the same time humiliating, tricks in the book.
He looks good in that highlight reel, and he is highly praised by a lot of players and managers in the Championship. I like how direct and effective he also seems to be. It isn't only tricks for the sake of it.
Bit of a late bloomer, but we could use more depth in our attacking positions. If Brentford misses promotion then try to get him at a decent fee, and let him replace someone like Lingard.

I think he has a bit of the Adel Taarabt about him when he was at QPR in the championship. I think he is a player that clearly talented but in the premiership he wont get the time or space to pull of so many flicks and tricks . Also Brentford would not have the ball as much as they do in the championship if they came up. I think best course of action for any club that would sign him is wait and see if he can cut it at Premiership level first
