Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney | Wrexham AFC Watch

Wrexham, our fuel is Wolf Cola

The feck. Why Wrexham?

Why not, tbh.

Still rather set up like a Div 1/2 side with a decent stadium and location. Play in red which appeals to a lot of eastern companies/investors (silly but true).

The killer, though, is that it's basically the only representative of half of Wales that isn't stuck in a dead league. People talk about 60k people in Wrexham as if the thousands in the surrounding villages, even stretching right down to West and Mid Wales aren't currently (if not potentially) Wrexham supporters.
Also heavily associated with the University, so potential to have some good benefits.

They used to have no problems filling the stadium (10k) a few years back, and that's all you need to have basic profitability.

I spent half my life around that area of the world, and if you think it's bad there then you've not lived in the South West. More expensive, worse roads, worse people and, for some reason, twice as expensive to live here with nigh on no difference in wages

I’m not slating the club, I’m just confused as to why 2 American actors would want to buy fecking Wrexham!

I mean, the club crest has Dragons on it and they play in Deadpool colours. Nothing sounds more appealing to Americans than the superficial stuff like that!

I imagine, though, if they wanted a cheap club with potential in a 'good' area (in terms of fanbase) then it ticks the boxes. Near Liverpool/Manchester so not unappealing in footballing Geography, not in a congested footballing zone at the same time (e.g. like Leyton Orient, who are also a red, dragon-based team), and the 'name' isn't so old fashioned as to be difficult to market to US based people who think teams should be named after an animal or object.

If the supposed £2m price is for it all and includes the stadium then it's surely break even for them, but I don't know how tied in Crusaders are as I recall they moved up there years ago maybe when Neville Dickens owned them.

Also seen this 'theory'

"The Gang Violates FFP" will be my new favorite Always Sunny episode.

Oh my god.

I'll be shocked if we don't see references regarding Wrexham in Deadpool 3 and a likely new series of Always Sunny.

Used to go to watch Wrexham back in the day as I went to the University next door. Used to get a bowl of chill and rice and a bottle of budweiser for 2.50. Good luck to the gents and good for the city and people of Wales.

What's the point of being super rich if you don't do fun stuff like buying a football club?

Hope it works out for them, both seem like genuinely good dudes.

I wonder what input either will actually have in the running of the club.

There's a good chance I'll meet them when I commentate at The racecourse ground later in the season. So thats pretty cool.

I know which team will be my 3rd choice team now
If only for whatever giggles he will definitely bring along to the football club.
My missus lives in Wrexham and I go there a lot, they’re definitely my second team now.

People think this is a good?

Don't make me guffaw.

Football clubs becoming nothing more than status symbols for the rich, what's next? Brad Pitt's Manchester United vs Leonardo Di Caprio's Liverpool for the Oscar final?

I don't think a Welsh, 4th division side is much of a status symbol to someone like Ryan Reynolds. The dude has been a movie star for two decades. He divorced Scarlett Johansson FFS, you think he views Wrexham AFC as a status symbol?.

Probably brags about it at his Hollywood lunch with Elijah Wood, somebody should throw his food on the ground!

There's worse reasons to own a football club, lets be honest. Some owners just want to make money.

I'd sooner have Deadpool wanting to brag to Frodo about how great Chelsea are than some twat who only cares about their dividends.

They'll be putting a lot more of their own money in than that Glazers ever have at United.

Going to be severely disappointed if I don't hear "Are you deadpool in disguise?" from the stands.

When they have people in them again, that is.
