Ryan Giggs

i don't remember the last time our player were booed off the pitch when they get substituted. It's extremely annoying to see and accept that it's happening to one of the most loyal players in the team. If this continues, and Giggs doesn't improve, then i'm sure he'll look for a way out.

I was at the match mate and there wasnt any booing. Its just another press wind up,dont worry about it.

Good to hear that, i honestly cant understand why someone would boo their own player.
Say what you like about em but booing helps no one.

The REAL problem with giggs which is starting to cost us dear is lack of competition for his squad number on the first team. When Lee Sharpe was around Giggs was flying and as a result We wherer near unbeatable. When He left we lost our first title. When Jesper came in to support Giggs in 99 he was probaly one of his best seasona and he helped us to the treble. And with Jersper and Fortune pushing Giggs' we kept winning titles. But once Jesper left and Fortune wasn't posing a persistent threat Giggs' forom deep starting last season As a result United where trophyless. He is THAT important. If Fergie doesn't be a decent left winger like a Bellion/Duff/D'alleassandro who can push for Giggs number his form won't improve. Even the becnh won''t do him good. But seeing some one run and trun defenders at pace on the left flank while putting in sone good crosses WOULD inpsire the real Giggs to come out of Ryan. As a result Ruud would stop being isolated in a 4-5-1 because Giggsy at his best plus Scholes and the "Current" Beckham would support him magnificently. so the ball and the Blame are all in Sir alex's court in my opinoion. The chief has spoken.

I can't believe I've read the suggestion that Silvestre be used as a LW!

Class may be permanent but when your game relies heavily on pace, and that goes the older you get, then surely your form must suffer? I cant ever remeber seeing a Utd player being jeered during a substitution. I watched the match on SKY and you could hear the jeering, the commentators even commented on it. I dont think playing MS would be the answer as I think he'd be lost if he was that far forward all the time and he couldn't score in a brothel so not much use! Diego could be the answer until Giggs form returns or else Richardson sould be given a run to see if he can compete at this level. If were're carrying Giggs at the moment playing Richardson shouldn't mae a difference.

Is it such a preposterous idea ? MS in a left midfield role could indeed be the answer if Ryan needs a rest or for strategic reasons. After all MS spends half the game when playing LB attacking the opposition with his overlapping runs as it is. With JOS behind him in a purely defensive role it could work.

I don't know what's wrong with Ryan. He shouldn't have to prove himself to anyone after what he has achieved over the years. However he must be more effective particularly in crucial matches which they all are from now on. Confidence is clearly an issue with him. Is it possible that he holds back because of a subconscious fear of injury which has blighted his career at times in the past ? Only a theory, nothing more.

I think it is preposterous actually. Silvestre for me is good going forward because Giggs is in front of him, because he makes those long overlapping marauding runs from deep. He offers such a good alternative on the wing perhaps because regardless of his current form defending teams will always be wary of Giggs and stick to him as best they can allowing for the defender to make his run. It's because he's played at full back that his qualities as a crosser on the run are so beneficial to us. But his passing, the sort required of a midfielder, isn't good enough in my opinion and I think it's fair to say that in midfield he'd have to pass the ball a lot more than he does in situations where a misplaced pass is more easily exploited by the opposition. Silvestre is a tackler and interceptor if you like, I don't think he has the ability to make the play like Giggs does or like we would wish of an LM. Personally I'd persist with Giggs but bring Richardson on as a sub more often or even try Forlan and OGS out left (an idea I'm not really a fan of) before even considering playing Silvestre there.

Fair points but I don't like the idea of someone like Ole on the left because he tends to favour his right foot and will naturally bring the ball onto that foot before crossing, thus slowing the momentum of an attack. Same with Scholes whom Fergie has tried on the left - only a few times thank god. Diego might be a different case although I think he too has a stronger right foot. Richardson will be the answer in the future and I agree he should be used as sub as often as possible in the hope that he can become more of an impact player in that role whilst at the same time picking up vital experience. Then you have Fortune who is naturally left footed but his future now seems to be more in midfield, when he comes back from injury and challenges for a place again that is.
We can only hope that Ryan recaptures the sort of devastating form we know he is capable of for the vital matches that lie ahead.

let's hope you're right.

but giggs did come out to comment on the fans.. saying the true fans are the ones that follow home and away.. clearly he's upset about the fans at OT to some extent.

i think it's time SAF takes him out and let him rest for a bit.. get himself recouperated.

I've just heard on Radio 5 Live that Ryan Giggs ditched driving sporty cars because the clutches are so stiff that they caused him problems with his left leg. Now that he is driving regular cars he is much improved.

Giggs said himself that there was booing going on. He also said it was only the true supporters who didn't boo and that the true supporter are the only supporters that go to the away-games. Therefore, he said, he more enjoys playing away-games than at home.

So there was booing, at least he heard it, and that's extremely sad! <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

believe in him..one day he would be the familar ryan giggs.... juz like what beckham did
