Lies, damn lies and your bloody meaningless statistics.I repeat,he can't compare to Pele/Maradonna/Van Basten/Cruyff or even Law to my mind!!And,in my view, he is no where as technically gifted as Henry !

I can only assume you are just the type of arriviste Man Utd glory hunter who would laughingly put Cantona ahead of George Best, not appreciating the quality of those who came before the success of the last 10 years.

No....no where near.Leaving aside for the moment whether he is the best player of the current crop in Europe (He isn't,to my mind,in the top 4,with Henry,Trezeguet,Vieri and Crespo much more gifted players). How you can even think he compares to a Van Basten,Pele,Maradonna,Cruyff,Law,etc. is beyond me.

Speaking for myself, i never claimed he was the equal of Pele or Maradona. But how you can claim that he is not the equal of Crespo and Trezeguet is pretty amazing to me. And as Arsenal fan you should like stats. Wenger sure spouts a lot of them.

Nah, that's the sponsor's website. The official Premier League website is www.premierleague.com. ;)

And tell me please why it isn't a friendly. You're f*cking allowed to make five substitions... :p

While I'm at it I may as well say this to Gillespie: You're full of shit.

IMO you can't compare the footballers to day to the ones of the past, it is a lot harder to score now then it was 20, even 50 years ago, i mean look at Dixie Dean, 63 (not too sure) goals in a season back in the 1920's, if you brought him into the fast, technical game of nowdays, i doubt he would put more then 20 away. I'm afraid you can't compare presant stars to past, only have Leaders of there own generations, and RVN certinaly falls into that catorgary

Best is the best player to have played in the UK and was up there with Pele and Maradona.

But Best played in a team with other players who could turn a game. Law and Charlton. Cantona turned us into a team of winners, and his charismatic hold over the team and crowd was equal to that of Best.

Having seen both RVN and Law play, IMO RVN could turn out to be as great, maybe greater.

And if you don't think he is in the top 4 in Europe, you just make a tit of yourself.

Some of you are forgetting that compared to today:

OLD FOOTBALL WAS SHITE!!!!!!

Okay there were great players like Bestie, Cryuff (however u spell it) and Pele himself but in general todays players are faster, fitter, and more technically advanced!

Oh and by the way! Gillespie you muppet!

Ruud is the best goalscorer around! we want strikers to score goals, not take corners (Terry Henry) ponse about on the wing (Terry Henry) Look like Sideshow Bob (Hernan Crespo), ponse about on the physio's table (Christian Vieri),.....oh and be a PRICK!!! (Michael Owen)

The top three strikers/forwards in the world today are Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Thierry Henry and Raul.

I'm not gonna put them in order because It's too hard to separate between the three of them really.

On the issues of who is better, Ruud or Henry.....

I hope to give an unbiased, honest and objective view on the topic.

1. Who has better goal average ? RVN

2. Who has better assist rate ? RVN

3. Who holds the record for scoring in most consecutive in EPL ? RVN

4. Who can't score with a header ? Henry

Conclusion:
RVN has the potential to become the best striker in MU's history and is definitely the better striker. Henry though still has chance to improve but must move to a better club with better players around him.

Thank you for reading.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

I wouldn't go so far as to say that football in the past was shite. If you put the older players into the training regime that players nowadays have i think that they can adapt just as well, especially players like Best and Law, just a matter of getting accustomed to the training cause they already have the natural talent.

I agree.I've been watching football for 35 years and although the game is much quicker now,I don't believe I saw a better player than George Best.Quite simply, for his time he was head and shoulders above everybody.

right now RVN and Henry are on another level to anybody else in this country and are maybe the best strikers in europe they are both devastating

19 in 20 is just outstanding

I did mean that the special players then would be special players today but I reckon that in general the talent wasn't as good!

Its all well and good saying they'd be as good in the proper training regimes but you cant really prove that! What you can say is that the on-field performance of many old pro's wouldn't be good enough at the top level today!

Ultimately,to quote a cliche...it's all about opinions.I believe both Best and Law would be as great if they played today.....because they were that good back then and I had the privilege of seeing them both play for you lot a few times at Highbury.

Ruud and Henry would be fecking amazing together, that I'll tell you...

Both are very big and very strong, Henry is very fast and Ruud ain't slow. They would create chances for fun, for each other and the rest of the team. They would be impossible to mark.

I'd say we definitely have the best striker worldwide in the house. No doubt about that. Looking at the most complete player ..maybe another story, but Ruud still would show up with the best 5. If you're in for the fancy stuff only: ..gotta be Henry though.

feck the fancy stuff!

Ruud! Ruud! Ruud! Ruud! Ruud!
