RVN, do we possibly have the best

19 goals already this season.

(or is that 21????)</strong><hr></blockquote>

He's brilliant. And half the knack is to be in the right place at the right time. As long as the midfield do their job and give him service his strike rate will be phenomenal.

And then there will be the odd occasion when he might just do it by himself, as against Basel. :)

Dunno, but he's been injured as well. He's absolutely amazing. Best in the World without a doubt, the complete forward, scores with both feet, scores with his head, hold the ball up as well as anyone, can cross, comes back into midfield, and so it goes on.

Fantastic! :D

Maybe I am confused Livvie, but when I first replied to you, your post was empty.

Anyway, RVN, he's class! In fact, our team is class, and so was our 4-5-1 tonight. :D

Yeah, but he's no Owen! Can Owen score with both feet? No. Can he head a ball? No. Can he cross a ball? No. Can he hold the ball up? No.

Michael No-wen!!

I would say that if Ruud had an extra half yard of pace, he'd be the absolute best of this generation. Sometimes he has trouble running away from defenders. But I can live with that. :)

Let you into a secret Weaste. I don't drink at all. First, I've never acquired the taste, and secondly, even an alcopop makes my mouth peculiar inside! Some kind of allergic reaction.

Exactly, back to the point, RVN is he the best forward that ever did play for United?

Bob is probably the only one able to tell us this. ;)

He was not new Van Basten. There is no one who can compare with him.

But then, Van Nistelrooy is Van Nistelrooy, and if he can keep it up and continue to improve he can become another legend himself. :)

And to top it all off, hes a nice guy too!

My mate took some bird he'd met to Dunham park/forest(some country lanes about 1 mile from where i live..) and Ruud was walking through with his woman, my mate said Hi, and Ruud took the time to exchange pleasantries etc..

One or two things that I have noticed about you is that you are both far too serious, and very pedantic. :)

Fantastic record. All the more impressive when you consider that he played as a lone striker for a lot of those matches. In the 2nd round of the CL matches, he's now scored 4 of the 5 goals and had an assist for the other.

What I like about him though is that his game is about more than just scoring goals. He'll contribute even when he doesn't score. Thought he had a great match against Arsenal...holding up the ball, putting in tackles, creating goals. And the great thing is...he's only going to get better.

He's nearly the complete striker. If he had that extr yard of pace he'd be priceless but we certainly got a bargain for £19.5million, if there is such a thing. As the tournament goes on Crespo will fall away, Inzaghi will dry up but Ruud will keep on scoring, he's the best "box" player in the world at the moment. :D

True, he is very terrific in finishing and absolutely scary when he get the ball in the box. We glad to have him and can't imagine if he play with another team that's oppose us. <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

18 CL goals in 19 CL matches. If a player got half that they would be doing amazingly well.

Can't say enough about the guy?

He has the best first touch of any 'big' striker I can think of in the modern game. And quick feet - amazing. He hardly ever fails to come out of a challenge without the ball and space to use it. Quality.

I'm STILL chuckling at the post that said Henry is stronger than RVN <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

He's human though; he missed 3 good chances last night

53 goals in 66 games!

Ok, I havn't mastered copy and paste properly! WIth regards to being the best forward that ever lived? i saw an interview years ago with the Argentinian coach after the 1990 world cup and he was asked if Maradona was the best player ever and he told the reporter to ask his that same question when he had won 3 world cups, 15 league titles and scored over 1000 goals in 1100 games. By that stat alone Pele will never be beaten as the best ever.

According to the official Premiership site it does. :p

<a href="http://www.4thegame.com/playerprofile?personid=1403" target="_blank">web page</a>

Don't forget that Ruud hasn't really had a partner especially this season and has had to play alot of games up front alone, while the other top names in Europe all had a steady partner...

Goals mins Average per game
Crespo 9 655' 1.37 Internazionale
Inzaghi 9 446' 2.02 Milan
Makaay 8 655' 1.22 Deportivo
van Nistelrooij 8 373' 2.14 Man. United
Henry 6 662' 0.91 Arsenal

UEFA stats..just look at the goals per game average.Just class.
:D

No....no where near.Leaving aside for the moment whether he is the best player of the current crop in Europe (He isn't,to my mind,in the top 4,with Henry,Trezeguet,Vieri and Crespo much more gifted players). How you can even think he compares to a Van Basten,Pele,Maradonna,Cruyff,Law,etc. is beyond me.

RVN best striker in Europe. end of. Pity he turned down the Bummers. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Of all those strikers he also has the best assist rate and the best accuracy/shots on goals rating.
Reproduced just for you Gillespie. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

Assists
Average
van Nistelrooij 3 284' 1.06
Henry 2 662' 0.3

Shots on Goal

Henry 15 662' 2.27 Arsenal

van Nistelrooij 14 373' 3.75 Man. United
