Sunday Mirror will contain quotes from Ruud van Nistelrooy's agent, Rodger Linse, to the effect that van Nistelrooy "must leave" Man United, and that it is his dream to live in Spain (i.e. Barcelona or Real Madrid).

Linse goes on to say that he had a deal fixed up to take van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid last summer for £20 million, but that the player got cold feet at the last minute.

The quotes are taken from an extensive interview Linse gave to a Dutch football magazine which hasn't hit the news-stands in Holland yet.

I wonder how much we'll get for him. On the one hand, he's started scoring like a madman again (two more yesterday); on the other, he'll be almost 30 by the end of the season.

Ruud is a johnny on the spot titty lining get. He has no pace and heads the ball like a speccy four eyes.
He still scores goals but I think we may have already seen his best years at OT.
I can't see any other big European club making a move for him no matter what his agent might say.

He can walk in to any team in Eroupe.

I doubt we'd sell him, he's a model pro and he's back scoring. His agent might have been misquoted it happens or maybe he's just someone that likes his name in the paper, regardless ruud looked happy enough scoring two yesterday and long may it continue

Misquoted? in a full length magazine interview with his agent..no its authentic

if it's a recent interview ruuds agents hardly looking out for his clients best interests is he? What can you say? the sooner agents are dealt with the better for everyone. Why does his agent have to do an interview anyway? I hope ruud knocks his block off.

FOOTBALL: VAN ON ROAD TO SPAIN
Real lead chase for United star
Simon Mullock Exclusive

RUUD van Nistelrooy is ready to pile on the misery for Manchester United by quitting as the goal king of Old Trafford to reign in Spain.

Sunday Mirror Sport can reveal that Van Nistelrooy's agent is already in talks aimed at securing the Dutchman a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona next summer.

In an explosive interview that will have United reeling, the Dutchman's agent, confidant and best friend, Rodger Linse, confirmed:

That Van Nistelrooy came close to joining Real Madrid for £20million two years ago;

That United's No.1 striker harbours a burning ambition to play in Spain;

And that Van Nistelrooy is likely to seek a way out of Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Linse said: "It is Ruud's wish to play in Spain. It is not a situation that he must move, but it is his desire. I'd love to see him playing there, too.

"The atmosphere of the football in Spain is very special. It is wonderful to train and play 12 months of the year with the sun shining. When he has the chance now he would move there.

"Real Madrid have tried enough times to get Ruud out of Manchester United. We've had enough talks.

"A concrete offer came two seasons ago. Real were very serious about it all. They put an offer to Manchester United and Ruud was going to earn so much more in Madrid.

"At the time, it was Ruud who said he had not finished things in Manchester yet.

"But it is possible that things are going to happen next summer. That is all I am prepared to say about it for the moment. At this stage, I don't want to lie about it."

The revelations will come as a devastating blow for United - and especially manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

United have been rocked by skipper Roy Keane's confirmation that he will not be signing a new contract.

Sunday Mirror Sport revealed last week that Cristiano Ronaldo is stalling over United's offer of a new four-year contract worth £70,000-a- week.

Now United face the prospect of losing a player who has scored 135 goals in 183 appearances - including two in yesterday's win at Fulham - since signing from PSV Eindhoven for £19m in July 2001.

United managed to keep the 29-year-old out of the clutches of Real when they persuaded him to sign a new four-year contract in Jaunary 2004.

Ferguson was furious that Linse had been seen negotiating with Madrid officials in the Spanish capital.

And it was a £1m payment to Linse for his role when the Dutchman agreed his new £70,000-a-week deal that prompted the club to abolish payments to agents working on contract extensions.

But that didn't prevent Linse meeting Barcelona president Joan Laporta three months later to discuss a possible switch to the Nou Camp.

And Linse was in Spain again earlier this summer in a bid to find potential buyers for Van Nistelrooy.

This time there were no takers because the striker had just endured an injury-ravaged season with United, despite reports that Barcelona would have moved for him had Samuel Eto'o joined *******.

But now Van Nistelrooy looks back to full fitness and has already scored nine times this term.

What's the big deal? A player who doesn't want to be there any more is, by definition, no use to his club. Besides, that new midfield isn't going to pay for itself . . .

Having said that, £20 million sounds a bit miserly considering that Man United spent £19 million on him in the first place, since when he has scored about 135 goals in 183 appearances

He's had a bad injury since then as well and the money we played for him was when transfer fees were higher.

My problem with Ruud is that allowing his agent to make this public (if true) gives us more bother with speculation.

Mind if we cut off his head he wont be much use to anyone so I retract my comment.

Ruud doesn't want to go anyway, probably. His agent will make a couple of mil out of moving him to Spain and is using the media, like he has for the past three seasons, to try and put pressure on United.

It sounds like he's getting deperate now, as the longer it goes on, the closer Ruud get's the end of his contract and the older he gets the less this cnut will benefit from a move.

Ruud should tell him to feck off.

Agreed, and to be fair to Ruud... he has never even once made any noises about not being happy at United. He has come out several times and said 'I'm going nowhere'

I will therefore only believe he is leaving if I hear the words from him or Sir Alex.

fecking agents, tabloids and media piss me off. And that story about Sven being lined up to replace our manager again..... now they can really feck off and die. cnuts.

it is fecking RUBBISH...these news are there every half year. :boring: :o
i dont believe this piece of shit...

This is a bullshit translation/report by the Sunday Mirror solely meant to create controversy. I read the original Dutch interview. They are a painting a picture like Ruud wants to leave. But if you read the original interview it's actually the opposite. This is my translation which I posted earlier this week:

"Today I read an interview with Ruud's agent Rodger Linse in the Dutch mag Sportweek. Linse said that 2 years ago Ruud could have gone to Real Madrid and also earn a lot more money there. Ruud refused becaused he felt there was still a lot more to be won at United. Says much about his attitude I think."

Seen his best years? so far 7 out of 7, you cant demand anything more than that

I can not see this interview being practicle as Ruud will be fuming regarding his agents story.

I'd like to see Ruud get rid of his agent. He seems to be quite a troublemaker.

...especially what Rio went through - would Ruud fancy being taunted!

Right well for one Ruuds best friend is not his agent, its some guy who is a swimming champ. This story comes out over and over,as it picks up speed all the rags jump on the bandwagon.Ruud has said he is staying,do you all believe the rags rather than the players?if so your not much of a supporter are you?

Bent is a different kind of striker to Ruud. And let's see if he can score 20+ goals a season for the next couple of seasons.

even to mention the words real madrid and new striker is sick

they have a team full of strikers, what they gonna do
play a 1-0-0-10 or somethin

now barca seem to be after henry
who is also stalling on a new contract bu it seems the media is not interested in the arse anymore

Ruud shock: Striker heading to Madrid, claims agent

Dutch star Ruud van Nistelrooy is ready to follow Roy Keane out of Manchester United next summer and join Real Madrid.
In a second devastating blow to manager Sir Alex Ferguson and United's fans within a week, striker Van Nistelrooy is poised to give in to the persistent interest of the Spanish giants.

If he and Keane were both to leave Old Trafford, Ferguson's team would be rocked by the loss of their captain and only consistent goalscorer - he scored twice in United's 3-2 win at Fulham yesterday.

And that could even hasten the manager's own departure as the empire he built in the last 20 years begins to crumble.

Last night Van Nistelrooy's close friend and agent, Rodger Linse, said: "It's possible that things are going to happen next summer but that's all I will say for the moment. If I say more, I will not be able to keep the English and Spanish press off my back. But at this stage I don't want to lie about it either."

Previous attempts

Asked how many times Real had tried to sign Van Nistelrooy in the past, Linse added: "Enough times. We have had enough talks. At some stage, over the last two seasons, Real were very firm about a transfer. They have even put an offer on the table at United. Ruud was going to earn much more money in Madrid but he felt he had not completed his mission at United."

With United now struggling to compete with ******* on the field and in the transfer market, Van Nistelrooy, who will be 30 next July, seems to have changed his mind.

A move to Real would increase the Dutchman's £90,000-a-week wages to the galactico level of up to £120,000 and allow him to link up once more with David Beckham. Van Nistelrooy publicly lamented Beckham's departure to Real two years ago and feels the service he receives has deteriorated significantly as a result.

Keane's claim that he is unlikely to be at Old Trafford after his contract runs out at the end of this season has been seen as a way of putting pressure on the United board to give him a new deal.

Sources close to Keane claim that Celtic have already offered the Irishman a two-year contract as a player to match his reputed £90,000-a-week wages at Old Trafford. The Glasgow giants would also foster Keane's ambitions to move into coaching once his playing career ends.

New challenge for Keane

Keane's apparent desire for a new challenge will only add to the growing feeling in the Van Nistelrooy camp that the time has come for the Dutchman also to seek pastures new.

Linse said: "Ruud does wish to play in Spain. It is not a case of 'must', more an urge. When he has the chance, he could move there. And I would love to see him play his football there, too."

Linse may have his own reasons for wanting Van Nistelrooy to leave. Even before the Glazer family took over United and began looking to cut costs, the board had stopped sanctioning bumper payments to agents when their players signed new contracts.

The £1.2million Linse received for negotiating the four-year deal Van Nistelrooy signed in January 2004 was revealed by United last year when they came under pressure from then shareholders JP McManus and John Magnier.

But the decision to leave United will be down to Van Nistelrooy himself. Sadly for the club, it seems that he may be ready to make it.

he had a bad injury prior to UNITED buying him - and there is still a marketplace for the right player(s).
he should make a public statement as well. tell us what his plans are!
