Rugby's for gayers

I'll say now i'm a massive rugby fan, rugby league though. For me and its only my opinion but rugby league is far more athletic than Union. Players generally have to be in better physical shape from 1 - 13, whereas in union you still find the big 20 stone props who may be strong as an ox but lack in athleticism. Also rugby union for me is a slower game and lacks the excitement a game of rugby league can bring.

I guess being from St Helens (the home of the 2nd best team in england :() i'm always going to be biased on this but i'm sure neutrals would find a league game more action packed and exciting than Union.

I guess being from Leeds (the home of the best team in England :)) I too am always going to be biased but I agree with all you say.

I also think I_live_cement made a good point with his last sentence in post #26.

So Wes, you coming down for some NWCAARL? We'll see who the gayer is then

(discounting the game of pisstick in the showers)

Rugby League is a simple game played by simple people.

Rugby Union is a complex game played by wankers.

PS, Marching you're a cnut.:smirk:

This forum again

Fortunately, I've no idea what NWCAARL means, some retarded bloke trying to get the attention of someone named Karl, perhaps.

North West Counties Association of Amateur Rugby League

Come down, try out. We'll see who a gayer is.

hate the whole mentality behind the sport. A boarding school game for dickfags.

Sorry i missed this thread!

The Rugby fraternity in Ireland (exclusive of Munster - real men & not a stuck-up posh pansy boy in sight) is an Old Boys club - you wont see many working class folk gettin involved in Rugby. The likes of the D4 mentality puts many of us off & its the same in the North where the majority of Rugby is played by well-to-do Protestants & even working class Protestants arent really interested because they dont have posh acccent nor "la-dee-da - i'm better off than you..." mentality....

Hate Leinster - Love Munster

There's more skill involved in darts than rugby.

An excuse of a sport for fat people who couldn't make it in a proper sport.

:(
Within the last few minutes Cheshire Police have confirmed that former Widnes player David Myers was killed in a road traffic accident on the M6 yesterday evening.

On behalf of all rugby league fans our condolences go out to his family and friends on this very sad occasion.

Vikings' Operations Manager Pat Cluskey said, "David was a popular member of the Widnes team and will no doubt be remembered by many for his celebration as Widnes beat Leeds in the 1993 Challenge Cup Semi-Final at Central Park.

"The side's performance that day was straight out of the textbook and one that was worthy of winning a place at Wembley."

David had two spells with Widnes as well as playing for Wigan, Bradford and Salford also representing Widnes RUFC.

Sad news again, not long since Adam Watenes death too.

Its maybe a sign of how 'close' the sport of rugby league is that each incident like this is always so sad.

I'd heard about the crashes all day and hadn't realised David Myers was one of the casualties.

Thoughts as always are with his family

the anti rugby brigade mate not you. I find it laughable with the amount of diving, bitching, play acting etc etc that there is in football people can have a pop at rugby for being a pansy sport played by gayers. I guarantee that most of you and in fact most of the professionals in football could not keep up or stick the training for rugby.

In the summer Middlesborough trained in Portugal at the same location as Ulster. Southgate said that he and his players could not believe the fitness training involved as well as the physical demands placed on the players, he realised that he was not pushing his players hard enough, this was highlighted when he saw a few 18+ stone boys sprinting the length of the pitch in 3 sets of 6.

I find that the ignorance comes from those that have never played the game or got involved in the training (of both codes) and they are just pissed at the games popularity and how the BBC etc are starting to reflect this with their scheduling.

That's because they have absolutely no passion whatsoever. All the fans sit together and have a laugh with one another, the feckin wierdo's. Supposed to be in opposition for feck sakes. Some people would call that civilized, I call it extremely pussy. Obviously don't care whatsoever.

Most rugby crowds are made up of band-wagon jumping office spazzers who have no idea whats going on in front of them, yet are not ridiculed, which they clearly should be.

You certainly don't care enough to start a thread about it

rugby is great, love watching it although the all blacks beat ireland again at the weekend, fecking wankers

Rugby Union > Rugby League.

The popularity of the respective codes shows this.

This is a matter that will always be argued between the codes. For me no matter how many people watch the game of union it's not as good to either play or watch. Now the union lot will argue their side and that's fair enough.

I will add though that the only reason I think Union is seen as more popular than League is it has a decent international setup. As far as the domestic game goes i'd not say there was too much in it, in terms of popularity.

That's true enough but 90% of most casual rugby fans only watch the internationals.

The same thing happens with Gaelic football Wes & there's mass passion but little trouble!

Its hard to put your finger on why Football fans are segregated & Rugby & Gaelic for instance arent. They seem to feel that Football has an extreme overpassionate element & if things arent goin right then fight!

My theory on Football being sometimes volatile is the working class roots.

Many working class would look to football for that bit of escapism from a tough life of having less opportunities for the good life. Rugby Union is deemed a middle-class sport in many countries including Ireland (excluding Munster region i.e. Limerick etc) so maybe they dont put as much emphasis on the outcome of a game for life fulfillment as they maybe have other passions in their life & have much more of comfort zone thus generally not needing to win every game to be happy in their lives!

Rugby is for middle class gayers.

Hope this helps, and offends.

Edit: Rugby League is'nt as bad as Union.

Stirring the pot I see Mr Heap :)

I am not a fan of Rugby RHD.
I think it is followed largely by suit wearing cocks.
Bar Rugby League sides like Wigan...

You are correct about the segregation.
Rugby is seen as middle class and far far less tribal.

No segregation at football would end up in riots every week. Much like the 70's.

I live in Twickenham literally next to the national stadium, and i can honestly say i have not seen one hint of trouble in the 7 years i've lived here.

Compare that to any football ground anywhere.

Different mindsets.

Just to go back to my original point.

Rugby is for poncy men who wear pink shirts and big collars.

Thanks.

RL saw some of the worst violence of the 80s. Knowsley Road was like a war ground when Warrington would come to town.

Yet, we still don't have segregation.

Come and watch a game at Knowlsey Road and see how many 'suit weaing cocks' you bump into.

Your claim that rugby is a 'gayers' game because there's less violence at the games is laughable to say the least.

Erm, my post was'nt entirely serious.

I would'nt go to Hull v Hull KR and call them all gayers.

It was a sweeping generalisation to evoke a reaction

I was only using violence in association with the segregation, and tribal issue's to make a point.

Man you wanna see some of the Irish Rugby Union fans in the Dublin area - posh cnuts the lot of them. Most have never played any Irish sports. And what it boils down to - they feel more fecking English than they do Irish - hence their accents - makes me fecking sick hearing some ponce - born & bread in Dublin speaking like he's a relation of Prince Charles!

I've nothing against the English whatsoever, but i've much against an Irishman that doesnt have neither the accent nor the mentality of an Irishman

Then you have the province of Munster: http://www.dragnet-systems.ie/regional/munster/munster_main.htm and these guys are from all backgrounds regardless of wealth or status in the community. The support they have for Rugby Union is immense & its a support based on good practice of not havin to show payslips (to show you're middle-class & upwards) as you walk into the local club social club!

The North of Ireland, where i'm from is equally as bad - if not worse! The majority of Rugby fans are Middle/Upper Class Protestants - not even working class Protestants get involved because of the Class segregation that exists!

You only have to look at some of the names of the teams up North, many have the name ending "Old Boys".

"It is true to say overall that currently the vast majority of players representing the professional teams of all of the provinces of Ireland come from middle-class backgrounds and have attended fee paying schools...." - that says it all to be Frank.....

I'm not bugrudging anyone coming from Middle-Class backgrounds, its the "Old Boys Club" type of bullshit that is associated with Rugby in Ireland that fecks me off. "We are loaded & will stay loaded - whereas you are not - so feck off & play your little old peasant sport of Gaelic or Football..."

My local side would be Harlequins. Would it be fair for me to say they are all middle class pink shirt, suit wearng gayers?

Cos they really are!

It's different outside of the capital i know, i hate living here.

You ever been to Quins RL? Northerners trapped in London doesn't describe them aptly enough
