Rugby Union 23/24 Discussion

Super game, should be further ahead. Im actually liking what I see from Crowley. His kicking is a good part of his game so not worried by that in the future but he’s been better in open play than I’ve seen him before. Ultimately he needs the game time to settle into international rugby, Sexton had plenty of so so performances in the beginning too for Ireland.
France still in it but hopefully we can see them off 2nd half.

Jesus if Edogbo can keep developing him and McCarthy are going to be a problem.

What do you think @rimaldo, have either of these pub teams got a chance against England?

it’s six nations rugby, everyone except italy have got a puncher’s chance against us. felt like a bit of a flat first half. possibly due to the last international games being world cup knockout classics, and this being the first game of the tournament.

Yeah, that’s fair. Crowley’s passing has been decent. Did very well for the Beirne try. I’m just worried about seeing this out if his kicking in open play doesn’t improve.

If Crowley doesn’t find his kicking boots in the dressing room we’re losing this. Desperately need to manage territory in the second half and he’s been woeful at doing that so far.

Albeit it's France but If we lose from 7 points up against 14 men, who haven't been on it, then you'd have to think a lot more will have gone wrong than that.

It’s flat because France have forgotten the past 5 years and reverted to being French

That’s an awful call….he got a hand on the ball, how can he be deemed to not be competing fairly? TMO’s call as well which makes it even worse

Ireland have done a brilliant job of making a mess of France’s attacking rucks. They haven’t gone for the ball so much as just pile through like feck….i wonder if it’s been to put extra pressure on Lucu seeing as he’s so under the spotlight

Absolutely excellent performance, probably the best I’ve ever seen from us away in France.

The red card obviously conditions the game but Ireland were the better side before that which I did not expect. If we can find a way to win at Twickenham then the grand slam should really be on again now.

The English will be tough this year, the clubs are playing well so the national team should eventually play well and bringing felix jones as a coach will add some experience to that coaching group

Ireland will win the tournament from here you'd have to think. I don't see England beating three of Scotland France and Ireland

France will still be a tough ask for everyone else too.

I hate to sound like a ‘next year is our year’ Liverpool fan but I think it’s a bit early for England.

As well as retirees we’ve got the added disruption of a bunch of our big players being ineligible because they’ve chosen to play in France. Factor in injuries and we’re starting with Care and Ford at halfback. As much as I love both players, it’s hardly evolution

So, anybody giving Italy a chance of beating the best performed Northern Hemisphere team as last year's World Cup?

Boring Borthwick picking George Ford at #10 was inevitable. Dewi Morris on co comms where I am. That would make an English loss even more entertaining.

Eddie Jones is in the crowd. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Magnificent try by Italy finished off Tomasso Allan who now becomes Italy's leading 6 Nations try scorer with 8.

I’m surprised at how often teams take three points still, or at least try. In the NFL, there’s so much analytics around when to take field goals and when to take bigger risks. It seems like rugby is a mile off this, which i guess is unsurprising giving the money in the two sports.
