With DuPont injured and SA without a capable kicker, I feel this World Cup is Ireland’s to lose.

They'll never have a better chance than this. Not a vintage All Black side either in France.

South Africa lost that match themselves. 11 points missed from kicks at this level is unforgivable.

Good game though

We actually did it! Biggest win ever for an Irish team at a World Cup in my opinion. What a game, South Africa are such a great side, Ireland are excellent too.

The importance of kicking well..... 11 points thrown away by South Africa. But man the Irish were incredible in the breakdowns. Great game to watch.

I hate, hate the draw. I know it's been said a thousand times before, but that two of France/Ireland/South Africa/NZ won't make the semis is a just wrong.

Said it before on here and I was talked down….I think this is the best Irish team in my lifetime

Well played Ireland well deserved. We need to sort out our kicking if we are to have any chance. But honestly the motivation and crowd are there for Ireland and France this year. Is this the start of the big shift to the northern hemisphere ?

It’s always hard to judge as in between world cups, six nations/rugby championship and autumn internationals aren’t a true measure of who’s the best. It’s definitely the best Irish team at a World Cup though

The promising thing is that there's more to come from this Irish team. There's still aspects of the game to improve and you feel there's another level this team can get to.

Put it this way, I’ve never fancied Ireland to beat the big teams in this way. Like, it’s been a possibility before, but not consistently a probability

I must admit it’s see refreshing to see professional players actually act professional. Football players really need to take some lessons

Agreed. It’s the first time that two northern hemisphere teams are actually favourites going into matches.

That's the elite of the elite there tonight.
Both sets of men can be proud of the show

Such a great team, doesnt surprise me to see them doing so well. World rugby needs this

Well yeah you can argue about the quality of the opposition vs the best teams in the past but you'd back this Irish team can beat anyone which wasn't the case in the past. In days gone by heading into games against NZ or SA you'd just be hoping we didn't get humiliated.

NZ and obviously Australia are below their teams of yesteryear, but this is a pretty damn good South Africa. They’ve been an awful lot worse. And France have never been this good.

I think New Zealand being subpar - because it’s New Zealand - makes people think it’s a weak era. I really don’t think that’s the case

Plus even subpar New Zealand could turn it on for enough games to win the damn thing. I definitely feel uneasy about the way they’re being dismissed as WC winners. They’re still a fantastic team.

not to forget that everyone feels the same about england as well.
