Rugby League World Cup 2008

feck, Ireland got knocked out of the World Cup in the sport that I didn't even realise we played.

Didn't it just!

I can't really explain that, a team that pre-tournament were given a chance of winning have come up woefully short and have been found wanting.

The tournament as a whole for me has been a bit of a dissapointment and has probably done the game in this country anyway more harm than good. It hasn't been helped with having games at the firts thing on a Saturday/Sunday morning as there just aren't going to be enough people watching at that time to generate any kind of interest or excitement in what was supposed to be the highlight of the rugby league calendar.

From a club point of view most of the players from my team, St.Helens didn't stand up to be counted and failed to reproduce their club form when it was needed.

It was naive of me to think rugby league could have a 'world cup' and it be anything other than a predictable and unspectacular non-event. The only international event in RL that I believe can work is the tri-nations, although in saying that the England team would practically make up the GB team and so that event may only prove to be a let down.

Ah well

What are your thoughts on his world cup??

What are your thoughts on Ireland at the World Cup - they did better than i thought anyway, but just missed out on the semi's?!

Man, it wasnt even covered over here, you wouldnt even have known Ireland had a team competing - its a complete disgrace :nono::mad:

And it boils down to the fact that Rugby League is a working class Rugby code & the "Traditional" values of Rugby lie with rich Irish middle-class ponces only!

Basically its: "feck off Rugby League - you didnt go to the right fee paying school nor do you speak of a well-groomed nature akin to the likes of the aristocracy..."

Can I laugh heartily at Australia now?

Sure, I guess they would have laughed heartily at England when they lost the Final last year. I guess it's England's turn.

Only saw the news just now. Well done to the Kiwis team, definitely an unexpected win.

That was awesome. Loved seeing a couple of the cnuts like Slater and Gallen in tears again.
