Missed the first match last night, but what an extraordinary start - the first 1-0 result in the Super League era, and the first nil-nil draw in ordinary time I can recall. An early defeat for Wigan is certainly welcome!

In the latest episode of the United Hour Podcast, Nik (@Rood) and Imran (@Annihilate Now!) are here to discuss three 1-1 draws.
The first got us knocked out of the FA Cup, the next puts us in a good position in our Round of 16 Europa League game, and the latest was an actual decent performance against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
All hopes for the season now rest on the Europa League - does Amorim have the squad to win it?

Haven’t really kept up with signings this close season, so not sure which sides are the hottest prospects for the new season. No doubt Wigan and Saints will attract the smart money?

Yeah I haven’t either tbh. As long as Wigan have kept their core together I assume they’ll be favourites. In fact, just had a look at the bookies and they are, with KR, saints and yours all the same odds after
That game last night was the first 0-0 in the 30 year history of the super league. Madness
Sintellin, Wire, Leythers and KR going well, while Salford, Catalans and the rest of Yorkshire are in the mud . In seriousness I think Wakey look ok, fair play to them so far, and for the rest it's only been two games.
For Wigan it's obviously pleasing to get going after a R1 result that's looking increasingly poor as the days pass. I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll regret making no additions to the first team. It's one of those where keeping a squad of winners, very few of whom are old, together for another year is also a fine achievement, but I look back to Fergie continually adding new elements to his United teams to keep things fresh between seasons and worry that we're an exact replica of last year.
Excited for Vegas, and hope that whatever the result we don't destabilise our season for a bit of a gimmick. You could say it feels like... a bit of a gamble.

Good news that coach Burgess has his visa sorted, and has travelled.
NSemba seems to have had a right good offseason camp, looks bigger stronger and definitely quicker than before

Yeah, they’re ruthless in attack and their defence just never seems to get beaten. They never seem to miss the last tackle, their percentage success on make-or-break tackles must be insane
Good game in Vegas, first 20mins were fairly even but Wigan are just to clinical in attack and solid in defence, Warrington gave it everything at the end and few tiring Wigan mistakes gave them field position and some tries.

Obviously it was a very pleasing performance. Wigan won the game in the forwards and punished Warrington for an hour. I thought Fitzgibbon and Harrison did pretty well but Vaughan in particular went completely missing, and I was amazed how little Warrington tried to offload and use support runners. They went up the middle and got beaten by the more dominant pack. Nsemba unbelievable, Thompson reliably good, the backs all did very well and probably Dupree's best game from the bench.
I do think Warrington were unlucky with that first no try and on another day Byrne is binned for a crusher, and I like Dufty, Fitz and Harrison, but they look to be carrying a few passengers in that squad (Leyland, Musgrove, Lindop looks promising but a bit young, Thewlis is poor under the high ball for me).
I was annoyed at the last 20 minutes. The game was won but there was no need to get so sloppy, I hope Peet had a word about that in the dressing room. A great win overall though, and now I just hope the travel doesn't take too much out of the group.

Good post and an excellent summary.
Very fair-minded of you in that middle paragraph regarding the disallowed try and the Byrne incident...those were indeed unlucky decisions for Warrington. Overall though, Wigan were pretty sensational for me, and without doubt the team to beat once more. I'm mystified after watching that as to how Leigh managed to keep Wigan out on the opening weekend!
On another note, what an abject scoreline for the English women against their Aussie counterparts.
Yeah haha, as I've said previously the Leigh result is looking worse to me with every passing day. Wigan had two (justified) yellows and the attack looked generally off, but even then we had chances to win it and threw them away.
But nothing is ultimately won or lost at this stage of the season, so you learn from defeats and move on and you enjoy wins and move on just as quickly.
The women's game was an embarrassment, unfortunately. If the idea of this event is to showcase the spectacle of RL you don't put a team of full and semi-professionals against a group of amateurs. Whether it was Aussies v Kiwis or an NRLW game of some sort, there must have been two women's teams they could have got together that would have made for a better contest.
How fecking wrecked are Salford -150 PD after 3 games
Salford are in a complete mess. Players are going without pay and there is talk of the reintroduction of a Financial Stability Cap if the situation continues.
It seems too much to ask these days to have 12 stable clubs competing on the pitch, there is always at least one battling existential trouble off the field. The UK game is in a sad state of affairs.
Oh mate, as primarily a union man…..it could be even worse. The game is in a woeful state from professional to grassroots. In fact, it’s only (ironically) its’ private school roots, giving clubs rich benefactors, that keep the game alive.
Neverending game going on for FC. Wouldn’t mind but my lads fecked off to the stadium (against my advice) and he’s got GCSE mocks tomorrow
