Whatever happens, I have no confidence that Australia will be this shite at the World Cup. Ye feckers could sit about playing tiddlywinks for 4 years and still rock up fighting at the business end of World Cups.
While historically, Ireland go the other direction
Again no jinxies, but I think this time is different. We've never had so many players fighting for a squad place and quality backups who can be used confidently in the lesser group games to protect the main 15. Our problem is that Scotland are dangerous on their day and Japan may rise to the occasion but even if we top the group we will probably get an improved SA. Also this is the first time ever that Munster are starting to open up their play and take a more 'Leinster' style running approach. Ulster are decent and I don't think Connacht have been as strong before a World Cup as this? Who knows maybe just avoiding Argentina will be a huge boost.
I'd still be inclined to take Zebo in the squad though, not sure how other Irish fans feel on this.

Meanwhile it looks like Michael Cheika will not be sacked as Wallabies coach. Rugby Australia seem keen to have him work with a director of rugby with Scott Johnson being the man likely to fill a DOR role.
I can't see somebody obdurate and dogmatic like Cheika working well with a DOR. Cheika would have been sacked by now if Scotland were good enough to take outcome out of the referee's hands late in their 2015 World Cup quarter final against Australia.

Some great news for people who don't support the Wallabies: Michael Cheika has been retained as Wallabies coach and will coach the team to the 2019 World Cup. Unfortunately, i sense Rugby Australia never really considered sacking him.
Scott Johnson has been appointed Australia's Director Of Rugby. I hope that turns out to be a good appointment but i don't know a great deal about how significant or otherwise he has been in Scotland's resurgence over the last few years.
