Carrick had a lot of qualities I am yet to see in Neves
Is that right? I guess United should avoid Neves then if lysglimt from the cafe doesnt rate him

How can you lot be so critical of a CM signing? Would you rather we get none and play McFred all season ?
So just sign anyone then? We should just be grateful for any CM we're linked to just because?

Better to get the right player, over yet another compromised signing, who just doesn’t look mobile/ good enough to play with Bruno and Pogba in a midfield.
Surely Pogba is off though.
He doesn’t have to be as long as his positioning is good. He can thread the ball between the lines which is what we desperately need instead of going long all the time. We don’t need a box to box DMBetter to get the right player, over yet another compromised signing, who just doesn’t look mobile/ good enough to play with Bruno and Pogba in a midfield.
Yeah next summer. Real can’t afford him, nor can PSG or Juve, so where’s he going to be sold?
What? PSG are reportedly ready to offer around €50m for him but he wants to hold on for Madrid next summer (on a free)Yeah next summer. Real can’t afford him, nor can PSG or Juve, so where’s he going to be sold?

Nobody is good enough to consistently play with Bruno and Pogba in midfield. We need to stop looking for that mythical player and start building a proper midfield balance. I'm not necessarily saying Neves is the right player towards that, but I do believe he is the right type of player.Better to get the right player, over yet another compromised signing, who just doesn’t look mobile/ good enough to play with Bruno and Pogba in a midfield.
I'm sat staring at 140 DM/CM's stats right now from Premier League, Serie A and La Liga. Here's a few stats, I'm going to put where they rank in brackets next to the stat. I haven't looked at the passing stats in more depth yet, but do have them recoreded. If I can be bothered i'll extend this for Bundesliga and Ligue 1. But it's worth pointing out that these stats are filtered by players having played at least 40% of the season and played in the DM/CM position.

Its how many minutes between tackles i think? Why is the lower number better for attempted tackles?
Its how many minutes between tackles i think?
Neves is miles better on the ball than all of those players which is more important for what we require. Not appealing to me to be honest.
Touchameni(Monaco) / Bissouma / Carmavinga / Brozovic sounds much better options for CDM role than Neves

United generally have more possession than Wolves and so comparing a midfielder for Wolves to one at United is slightly misleading without context.
For example, the lack of possession that Wolves consistently had last season would lead to more tackles for the likes of Neves over McT for example (I choose McT as Neves would no doubt play in a position similar to McT.)
Most of those numbers are 'average time between'. It's an absolutely hideous table @RedSky
Says PM for per minute but it's actually given in minutes per.
Interesting to note that both Wolves CMs are in the top 18 of tackles won last season...only Fred and AWB are in from United.Difference of 30 Attempted Tackles between the two clubs. Neves with 15% of Wolves Attempted Tackles (138 from 923). Fred had 141 from 892, 16% of Uniteds total.
It's very little difference. You can make more direct comparisons if you're that inclined by simply having a club ratio compared to the highest club. It's what I generally do but assumed it would go over the head of people in here as it's pretty complex.
Interesting to note that both Wolves CMs are in the top 18 of tackles won last season...only Fred and AWB are in from United.
Further supporting my point that without context these comparisons are a little trite.
Also interesting to note there's three Wolves players in there too.
Also note that the top tacklers are from three clubs that play either aggressive pressing football or counter attacking football, Leeds, Brighton and Spurs.
Again, context is key.
Neves is a good player, I'd be happy with him but feel it would be the wrong player for us.

Fred leads the way on all of the clubs you mention. This for the record incorporates all of the top 5 leagues in Europe. Matic, Uniteds next highest played DM/CM fails to make this list as he had only played 1036mins and therefore doesn't make the minimum 40% playing time. This list is just what Whoscored deems as DM and CM's.

Moutinho has definitely been better for them. He's a fan favourite at Wolves though which is probably skewing that opinion somewhat.I think reading that wolves forum kind of sold me on the idea of Neves. They dont like the idea of selling him at all, they think 35m is crazy and they should get at least 50m. They seem to agree hes their best midfielder (all of which are very similar) and they expect him to be their captain in the next season or two if he stays.

Yeah perhaps they mean he's now effectively their best midfielder due to Moutinho's age.probably was previously but hes 34 now

I ask again, is all this talk of us being interested in him based on nothing more than a TalkSport article?
I've seen nothing else to suggest we are even interested in him.
Hopefully Leicester considerBite what? Us?
