Absolutely this....All book publishers will try and generate some spice and will amp up any potential story they can into a nonsense controversy.
"Successful footballer thoroughly enjoys his fulfilling career" is only going to shift a few copies to the absolute fans of the club. Tales of bitterness and intrigue will draw in fans from other clubs and maybe even some non football fans too if the story is spicy enough.
I was a big fan of Roy as a player but now he leaves me cold. His bitterness and resentment is not really justified and I don't believe he is telling the whole truth either. It does seem like there was a growing distrust between himself and Ferguson and Queiroz seems to have been put in a position to bear the brunt of that.
Given How big a deal Roy was in Ireland at the time and his connections with leading figures in Ireland I wonder if the whole Coolmore row was the seed of the growing distrust. The "99 questions" for Ferguson to answer must have been sourced from people within the club. Interesting that he is using some of that rhetoric in this video, questioning Fergie about his son and brother etc.
When it comes to financial propriety and distractions from the game he's has never been the saintly figure he likes to portray either.

Listen to reverence Neville has for Keane at the end of this clip. The class of 92 get put on a padestal at United, and rightfully so, but it shouldn't be forgotten, because of a personal spat of all things, how important Keane was to our success and how loved /respected by our squad. He was the leader and probably best player, of an all time great football team, not just ranting and raving loon many make him sound to be.
He holds a grudge and let's loose about it every now and then. Don't really see the fuss. As incredible SAF was, he isn't beyond criticism or pot shots. Let's not turn him into a deity.
Thanks for posting this bit. I didn't watch the full interview, saw bits and pieces and didn't like it. This is brilliant. The way Neville was talking about him is unreal, it's like kid meeting his hero.

Oh absolutely,he mentioned it in his book his hip would be screaming during his time at Utd so his powers were definitely waning.
His final full season in 04/05 was actually a decent one form wise and his stats were very good that season but you're right, his mobility was declining. Although Fletcher was much maligned at the time I think it helped Keane a lot to have Darren doing his running for him in midfield which left him to sit and control games from deep.
Brian Clough said that Keane should have dropped to a centre back to prolong his career and there were suggestions that it could have been done, particularly after his brilliant performance at centre back against Juventus in 02/03.
Fergie mentioned that in his second book that was what they wanted to do with Keane as they couldnt have him running box to box anymore.To manage him as he was getting older.
Keane has gone long unhinged and seems hellbent on being a bitter feck. The memories he gave us over a glorious playing career can never be forgotten, but the less we see and hear from him, the better.

I'm not outraged in the slightest. I just know that a person who mocks another person for crying on TV about his dead mother and sick child is a piece of shit, regardless of how great of a footballer they are. I also know that most people who use the term snowflake usually have nothing substantive to say.
