Roy Keane

Rooney:
‘With Roy, I knew he was a great footballer, but until I played with him I didn’t realize how great.
His passing was probably the best I’ve played with, in terms of getting it to the forward’s feet.
I’d always associated him as someone who got around the pitch making tackles, but his passing blew me away.’

Interesting. I thought Scholes would've been top.

What's with all the shitty book titles? 'The Second Half' sounds proper naff. Rio's is called '2 Sides' or something, right?

When did Rooney say that?

Well, scholes hasn't exactly been signing Rooneys praises either of late.

I love Fergie but he was completely in the wrong on that one. Not sure what else new can be said on it? Maybe something to do with the distraction it caused or something?

Considering we know so little about it, and the parties involved are not talking, how can you know Fergie was in the wrong?

Rooney is right, Keane's passing ability was underrated. In fact his technical/playing ability generally is usually underrated.

There's a perception of Keane as a player whose mentality, drive, aggression and leadership got him to the top despite him not being as talented as loads of other players but in truth he was an extremely accomplished footballer. I think that gets overlooked sometimes due to his rather imposing personality.

Settled off the court with Fergies saying he and Magnier agreed not to talk about it. Maybe he got what he thought was a fair share...?

If you have anything more, would appreciated more info. There's precious little about it.

Well he backed down eventually being the most obvious reason. Demanding 50% of stud earnings at the stage Ferguson did was very unusual and not something ive heard of previously.

This is as good an article on can find on it.

Shame it went down that road really, Then again it was such an amazing race horse to be given a 50% share in. I really doubt either party ever expected him to achieve what he did. Usually a stud fee issue like this would never occur.

He was definitely in the wrong IMO. He was given RoG as a gift and then demanded more money from it's stud rights. Within the racing community it was considered a rather daft thing to do. Regardless of how much legal claim he may have had, it was bad form, and the fact he let it influence the club in any small way was unprofessional.

Well, first time's the charm!

This was excellent and interesting article, thanks for it, but I still don't see Ferguson completely in the wrong.

I think wrong is an understatement, I thought Fergie was embarrassing in that whole escapade and ended up trying to bully the wrong lads. Ya I'd say Roy will have a dig with regards the distraction of major shareholders and the long serving manager falling out so publicly.

There's a line between an awesome beard and looking like an unkempt mess. He looks like the latter.

I seriously doubt Keane gives a fiddlers what his beard looks like or what others think about what it looks like either, neatly trimmed or like a wild summer meadow it's probably all the one to him. Right job to in fairness.

Perhaps Roy has been studying American Civil War generals recently.

I'm genuienly interested, for women on here (The few that are).....
What do you see in a beard like that?!

I mean, from a male perspective, it's magnificent...I'm lighting a candle in it's honour as we speak, but, it looks trampy from a woman's perspective. However, I see men, with the same beards as this, pulling every week.

He looks mental. I mean, he's always looked mental. But now he looks properly, lock him up and throw away the key before he eats someone, mental.

It would look like I'm dating a serial killer. It is not unattractive, however.
