Personally, I think it is a load of rubbish, but thought I would post it up to see if anyone else has heard anything flying around.

A lad I know, who is City, was piping up today about Rooney and he brought up that he "is definitely gone in the summer to the highest bidder".

Obviously I questioned him about it, and he said the usual that it is from "a very reliable source" and "it is a done deal".

Now whilst the lad is a City fan, he does usually get some insider bit and pieces as he actually works for Man City, so putting two and two together, I think he is angling that he will be off to City.

I personally can't see him going anywhere, unless Fergie wants him to, and I guess that last part is the key question. Further to that, whilst we have sold players after having them sign contracts, we seem to steer well clear of selling to our rivals.

I know this thread is going to get me some flack, but I am not a transfer muppet and simply sharing what I have been told. I know there are a few in the know people around the site, so hopefully they can shed some light onto this.

I reckon it's bullshit and just your city mate trying to wind you up what with all the controversy spinning about right now.

You should arrest him, just for fun, like. You can hold him for 24 hours, right?

Haul him downtown as say "it's a done deal, mate"

I'm a bit cynical but then I think he'll be gone in the summer. Renew contract to get more money.

As I said, I am cynical so there's 99% I am wrong. I'm sure most other people, not just those who aren't cynical, will disagree.

How is it a done deal if he's going to the highest bidder in the summer? That's a emphatically not a deal thats done

Yeah, I did say that. As said, I think it is rubbish and he is on the WUM, but just thought I would put it out there incase anyone had heard anything.

Aren't you a policeman?

Yeah?

F****** What?

We will obviously sell him if we get a bid that is too good to refuse but we will not be rushing him out. We could use some money but it isn't an absolute priority to get rid of Rooney. I am more worried that we will sell Berbatov seeing as he hardly ever starts these days in spite of being in form.

If Wayne really wanted to leave:

(a) He wouldn't sign an extended deal because it would strengthen the club's hand too much. We'd be able to sit in and demand ridiculous money which would likely scupper a potential deal.

(b) He wouldn't have come out and said everything he did about regretting his actions, wanting to remain here and generally committing himself to the cause. He would have kept his mouth shut.

I call bollocks.

Yeah, no chance he's off. People are looking for a story where there isn't one. Sadly I think berbatov will be the one leaving.

Obviously just a bullshit rumour but I bet this page reaches 5 days by this time tomorrow.

EDIT: feck me that males no sense at all. Who says blokes can't multitask.

I don't see us selling him for two reasons. 1.We'd need to get an offer around the £20m mark to even consider it because below that mark, we're better of keeping him but I can't see anyone offering that given that he's 30. 2.He's stated repeatedly that he feels that after United it'd only be a step down.

Even though he's been benched a few times recently, he's played plenty of times this season and Berbatov seems sensible enough to understand that and the fact that its a squad game.

Absolutely spot on.

 It's a done deal that he's going to the highest bidder in the summer; it doesn't even make sense!

edit.
I can't believe anyone would post this crap, as if there's not enough bullshit on the Internet to sift through :(

This is just part 1 of the Amazing City Mega Spin where they claim that, in fact, they turned him down.

So many "done deals" recently that I'm starting to worry there will be nothing left to enternain us in the transfer window :)

Tbf he could mean that it's a done deal that Ferguson wants him out and he'll go to the higest bidder.

Obviously bollocks though.

Very much doubt he'd go to City. If that was the case why sign a new contract? - Could have moved there this summer or before for a reduced fee and higher wages.

Other than the PL where else would he go?

He'd get even more suspensions in Spain or Italy than he does here.

I heard the OP is a muppet. Now, it's just a rumor, but I'd thought I'd post it in case anyone else heard the same thing.

The Religion... while I see you, I responded to your PM.

No worries, I certainly wouldn't have complained about anything. Sure, I'd be talking awful shite on here at times.

If he was going to go, surely it would have been after his transfer request, but then we all said the same about Ronaldo a few years back, never say never.

He won't go. I see no reason for him to. Say we win the league and/or one of the other two cups then what will his excuse be? He can't blame the team for being crap again. He can say he's won everything here, but then that would mean he's off abroad as whats the point of moving to City to try and win the exact same things? I don't see any team abroad needing him that much and willing to pay a huge sum to get him.

Hopefully if it is true, the highest bidder will be some middle Eastern team
