Rooney Charged: Faces Two Match Ban for cursing | Appeal lost

You honestly think he was aiming his comments at the viewers?

Seriously?

And that matters how? The fact is, he looked down the lens and told viewers to F*ck off. That's how it came across and that's how it goes out around the world and on Sky sports who are the ones who pay for the rights.

What Rooney did was wrong and it was never going to end well was it. People are moaning using all other examples saying "why is that tackle not banned" or "why is that player not banned, I could tell he was swearing" but the fact remains that this case doesn't happen in the Premiership often, its the first time it has this season to my knowledge and its not good for the game.

He should have done something like Gerrard did to the camera or even laughed at the West ham fans (on camera) not sworn at it.

 Well done to everyone who whipped this up into a frenzy from the non issue that is was. You got your man, as you've been waiting for since Wigan. The FA were always going to ban him, spineless feckers love a bit of trial by media

No matter, we'll just bring on the league's top scorer instead to replace him. And when we win the league this season, and knock City out of the cup, it's gunna feel that much more fecking sweeter

They've had his card marked ever since the Wigan incident.

The ferocity with which the media has jumped on this really has been sickening.

They've just given Ferguson even more material, as if he needed it, for building his traditional Easter-time siege mentality.

On the pitch, we've got more than enough to see off Fulham and City. And Wayne will be well rested for the Chelsea return clash - and with a burning desire to make a point.

Fulham we should be ok without him, City is another matter but at least we have 3 other strikers to play instead.
I hope he doesn't appeal though as we could do with him against Newcastle

Perhaps he was finding the cameraman's behaviour as annoying as we find yours.

#Utd have won 70% (14/20) of their PL games that #WayneRooney has started this term, compared to 45% (5/11) that he hasn't

Are we even at that stage yet?

It could still be just a fine, right?
No, foul and abusive language is two games. But we can argue that the standard punishment is clearly excessive (seeing as a PL footballer on average says feck 300 times per game).

I think.

Sorry but anyone who watched that and thought he was aiming at them as a viewer is a fecking idiot. I mean, properly, unsafe to be allowed out of their own, should probably be under 24 hours supervision, deluded whackjob.

You can't say some swearing is OK but some isn't, it's ludicrous, anybody with half a brain can see that. Either you crack down on all swearing or you let it all go, common sense tells us that grown men swear, especially in such highly fueled emotional situations, get the feck over it.

Oops, sorry, get the beep over it, hope I didn't offend anyone.

I would have to say that accepting the charge (in that the language was used) but appealing the punishment/ban (because of context and precedent) has to be the way to go if available.

My god, it's constant moaning and complaining all round these days. Over absolutely nothing at that.

Well, he can do it in the white shirt of England folks but not while playing for Manchester.

Well done to the FA, finally shown some backbone and principles.

He must appeal, the club and him can't just accept that stupid decision. Despite the risk of an extra game, we should never in the world accept that..

Now that Rooney will be banned for our next 2 games, who can the FA pick on? Nani?

I guess he will accept the charge since he apologise earlier, he knows what he did was wrong, but the punishnment shouldn't be a ban at all. :nono:

It could still be just a fine, right?

The BBC are reporting it as fact

The England international has until 1800 BST on Tuesday to launch an appeal against the FA charge.

If he accepts it, he will receive a two-match ban - if he denies the charge a hearing will take place on Wednesday.

BBC Sport - Wayne Rooney faces two-match FA suspension for swearing

Presumably the offence Rooney committed carries an automatic punishment when a player receives a red card for it, in the same way that violent conduct carries a 3 game ban. The difference being that the rule Rooney broke is never ever enforced.

The FA website just says he's been charged. No mention of punishment. The press are all saying he could get a ban OR a fine.

Everything I've seen says a 2 man ban, SSN have been running with it since I got home and it's on BBC, all the journos on twitter etc

I hate these sort of idiotic rules made up by moral idiots of the world. I mean, swearing??? WHOOOOOO is going to get offended???? WHOOO CARES? Bad language is some kind of crap saying that goes back to the age of apes ffs.

Did the FA tell it to them or they just want to get Rooney banned.....

LOL probably.

Or maybe some people think its OK to swear at camera if you wear a red shirt but not a blue one. Come to think of it, can you imagine if Gerrard instead of kissing the camera (which was annoying enough) had looked down the lens and said that, we'd be going ape shit on here.

Him swearing doesn't bother me one bit, I swear myself in my own home BUT he still should not have done it and the defence of it by some on here is madness IMO. There's passion and then there's stupidity.

1) Can't wait for Fergie's reaction to this. Siege mentality at it's finest.

2) Hope Rooney fecks off England. Would be hilarious to see the FA deal with that scenario.

3) If we win the title this season it has just become that bit much sweeter.

2) Wouldn't mind on a temporary basis tbh.

I know a 2 game ban is harsh as it is his first time doing it. However I responding more to the people who are trying to say its not the same as Drogba swearing at the camera or those who think Rooney swearing directly at the camera/viewers is the same as something being lip read of picked up from a player.

I agree with that chap that said " a fine and pull up on it" would suffice.

So you're saying that all the hundreds of players in the league have no passion when they score goals, because THEY DON'T swear at the camera?

I'm getting bored of saying this....... BECAUSE THOSE PLAYERS DO NOT PUT THEIR FACE TO THE CAMERA AND TELL THE VIEWERS (WHOEVER THEY MAY BE) TO F*CK OFF. Simple enough?

Get over it - all those players 100% know the cameras are on them whether the camera is in their face or not. You are being ridiculous if you think there is a difference.

Also, do you think when player run toward the crowd and aren't swearing directly at the camera but, towards 100s of fans, many of them children is not even worse? That's right in their face - a lot more personal, you don't see the FA charging those players.

What Rooney is sooo different to what so many players do - really keep saying that.

I hate these sort of idiotic rules made up by moral idiots of the world. I mean, swearing??? WHOOOOOO is going to get offended???? WHOOO CARES? Bad language is some kind of crap saying that goes back to the age of apes ffs.

The viewers (mostly ABU)who were watching on television were offended and kick up such a big fuss about it

So Harry Redknapp, the man who has sworn in two seperate tv interviews, thinks Rooney is a 'silly boy' for swearing?

Genius.

Rooney should know better as well, he must know that the media loves to jump on him and that FA tries to get him at every chance. Why even risk it even if it's a fecking joke of a ban.

Maybe don't put a mic on your camera when shoving it in players faces. They swear in every sport. American sports mic the field but they never run it live. They realized they couldn't do that in the 80s because of players swearing. They listen to it, then run it after.

Punishing a player for it is ridiculous.

Just a tip.
