Insane. Absolutely insane. Reminds me if when he and Scholes were given 3 match bans by the FA for red cards in a preseason friendly.
 
Of course there's no question we will appeal even if those game would have been against Barnet and Stevenage. We can never accept this and hope the club issue a statement later.

Wow, the FA really want to use us as an example. What I want to know is why other club's don't get such sanctions for exactly the same or similar offences.
 
Why is everyone saying and hoping he will retire from England? No player would do that, i have never heard of any who did it in spite of what the gimps at FA do to him fair or not

I'd say the same regardless of the player.

And that can't be said for most people in this thread. Had John Terry done the same thing on the weekend, the Caf would be calling for him to be punished and I think you know it.

Neither was the behaviour of the cameraman tbf. Got himself square in front of Rooney - right up close - camera lens atring him right in the eyes for ages - I'm not surprised Rooney wanted to know just what the f**k he wanted.

I think we feed all the Sky cameramen turd-burgers on their next visit to OT.

to be honest Rooney is his own worse enemy , he knew what he was doing and he knew what would come of it.
He is a very angry man and need to sort his temper out.
But I also think the FA charge is bullshit , he and many other players have been seen swearing on TV many many times.
Anybody else but Rooney and nothing would of been said.
I am not going to go down the route of FA against United ,because it is bollocks , but the 5 match ban for SAF and the what looks like 2 games ban for Rooney does make you think.

Drogba went OUT of his way to get to the camera, stare down the lens, and say "fecking Disgrace " to which he didn't apologise for , or at least not in the same timeframe in which Rooney released his statement.

Sorry mate but I have to disagree. Rooney looked for the camera and swore at it so it was the same as Drogbas. The fact that the camera man was nearer to him means nothing, nor does the heat of the moment defence.

Rooney was in the wrong here and if we're honest we all knew he was in trouble. Rooney is a great player, done some great stuff for us but he's a hot head and must not let fans rattle him. Our fans hammer other players and managers. I agree the FA are mugs but you can't go doing that.

After the elbow v Wigan, Rooney was always going to under the microscope from the FA & Refs.

IMO, and i know most on here will disagree, one game would have been about right. Two is harsh.
 
Hang on are they going to make sure all footballers don't use the 'f' word in future? What a joke, I didn't think the story was worthy of comment...let alone expect an outcome such as this. I hope he retires from the national side.

So how come they haven't charged Reina for using the same word to the ref after having a penalty justly given against him? Should a campaign begin for that?

I'd love it if someone challenged the FA to ban him but lose him from their national team and precious sponsorship events. That'd put them right in their place but sadly it'll never happen.

I think it's yet another example of the world going PC crazy and being controlled by the media and whatever agenda they want to promote. The media and PC brigade are turning the world into a non-democracy and an even more regimented, robotic place to live in.

The issue is not that Rooney was overheard swearing, as many footballers are, but that he deliberately aimed his words into the camera.

The initial suggestion from within the FA was that Rooney was unlikely to face sanctions as his team close in on a record 19th league title, but the governing body has now decided that the offence was serious enough to act.

Rooney had apologised for the outburst and it is understood that Sky did not receive a significant volume of viewer complaints. The FA, however, feels duty-bound to act, given that the referee, Lee Mason, was in no position to see and report the incident. Sky's commentator Rob Hawthorne apologised to viewers for the bad language and the FA's governance unit have been assessing the footage today.

We get made an example of 9/10 and when you get made an example off, the punishments tend to be different. Thats the reality and I don't think anyone is just imagining it....so it's not a conspiracy. We just get treated harsher.

Every single time players go to celebrate someone will shout something along the lines of 'fecking come on' or 'fecking get in'. The only difference between that and his is that they weren't looking directly at the camera. They're just as reckless about who hears it and the language is no less foul and abusive.

Again, it's the old chestnut, where's the consistency?
