Ronny Johnsen.

Thanks Ronny, a top player who always did the job. I'll always remember the great job in midfield he did as stand-in, when Keano had his ligament injury.

But those who think we can afford to have a crocked defender 'as back up' - c'mon chaps, it's a squad game, it's about competition for places and a permanently crocked player offers zero competition to anyone.

Hoddle will probably sign him anyway - add Ronny to Sicknote and Redknapp and you have the complete set...

I don't think he was treated that badly. If it is true United offered Ronny a one-year contract, than they are well within their rights to do so - it was the correct thing to do. Having only played about a third of the games in previous years due to injury, the board were right to see if he would have come back from the injury the next season.

So he wasn't dropped for Johnsen or something.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Come on, johnsen should have not have played this season and O'shea should have, its as simple as that.

At some point we have to face reality. We are still living on the memories of that glorious season when we won the treble. It's time to move on, and releasing Johnsen,Irwin, and Rai was just the beginning. Let's not make the mistake that Pool made by exisitng on past glories. Johnsen was a great servant and will always be a special part of United history, so thanks Ronny.

This is not good enough

rather than cursing on Johnsen leaving, why don't we made this thread as a tribute to him ?
I think he could be a contender for one of Fergie best buys.
Snapped from a Turkish club for just 1.5 M he established himself quickly to become one of Europe top defenders.
He was probably one of the few defenders in the world who could keep Ronaldo quiet in a match in his glory days.
His versatility also enabled him to slot into Keano position comfortably. In fact two of United's best win in Europe (3-2 against Juve 97, and 4-0 against Porto 96) came when he was playing in central midfield.
Goodbye Ronny, and thanks for the memories, wish you all the best for the future.
Even though yur career here is not as long as I might expected, but you are an Old Trafford legend indeed..

Good bye to one of the finest defenders united has ever had.For me when he played this year he made the team look so much safer in defence considering he had Blanc next to him.Its just a shame his knees are to weak know for him to play at the standard that fergie expects.Good bye super Ron i will miss you playing in the colors of red white and black. :(

Isn't he out of contract soon?
If so, I don't think Alex will have any bearing on where he goes.
For the record, we don't want him, he's far too injury-prone.
