RONALDO was a bad move

I am sure that Ronaldo will give the fans some extra show(but the kid doesnt know what is a PASS)If he doesnt know how 2speak Portuguese how can he speak English) SIR Alex said 2 the press Real Madrid bought Daviv so we are going 2buy Ronaldo. :D

Friend your English is fine. Take no notice of some of the more ignorant twats on here.....I accept you know more about these young guys than we do but you are probably not without your own prejudices. Also regarding your seemingly dim view of th English league perhaps you know little about that just as we know little about the Portuguese league....Man Utd has been whipping Italian arses recently....don't set too much store by your win in your homeland over a jet lagged, 2nd string Man Utd side

How you could do this to us! Sporting Lisbon supporters are in disbelief, no one was expecting the kid to leave this year.... If you are really our friends how about lending us a striker and a left winger to make up for it!!
Good luck Ronaldo!

Then asked how good ronaldo is:

re: Lisbon is in tears Sporting Lisbon Fan - 3rd post - 12 Aug 2003 16:02
I've seen the kid play lots of times...he's good, very good, we're all quite crossed regarding this transfer, some people are getting quite angry and even feel betrayed... buuuuuut, he is still a kid, only 18 years old (quaresma is 2 full years older) so don't expect TOO much from the fella, you'll have to give it couple of years. He tends to rely too heavily on his driblling capability which only works the first 5 or 6 times (after that the deffenders know better), and tends to forget about the rest of the team. He needs some strong coaching to control this but I guess Fergie is the man to do it. This said if he is raised properly he can become the BEST portuguese player EVER(believe me, he is already better than figo ever was when 18 yrs old) but can aswell loose his mind over fame and money (seen it happen hundreds of times) Ronaldo and Quarema are very similar players and will probably be the future national team wingers, quarema on the right and ronaldo on the left. That said, I personaly think Ronaldo would make a heck of a striker.
I guess I'll start watching a lot of Mau Utd matchs in the future

Ronaldo set to shine

New Real Madrid manager Carlos Queiroz was credited with discovering Portugal's "golden generation" of players like Joao Pinto, Luis Figo and Rui Costa in the late 1980s.
Fast forward to the 21st Century and Portugal is said to have unearthed a "platinum generation", with new Manchester United signing Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro the pick of crop.

His contemporaries include Helder Postiga, Hugo Viana, Simao Sabrosa, Tiago Mendes, Ricardo Quaresma.

It is a group of players that Portugal manager Felipe Scolari has started to use as he prepares for Euro 2004 and that has also been coveted by Europe's elite clubs.

Both Inter Milan and Liverpool have been linked with "the other" Ronaldo, who was watched by Liverpool at the Toulon tournament this summer.

Throughout last season there were also repeated whispers that United would move for Quaresma this summer.

But in Portugal, Ronaldo is seen as the brighter prospect of the two, because of his versatility, whereas Quaresma, who has joined Barcelona this summer, operates primarily as a right winger.

Last March Quaresma and Ronaldo, playing for the Portugal Under-21 side, destroyed their English counterparts, with the pair of them getting on the scoresheet in a 4-2 win.

If Ronaldo's reputation is already made in Portugal, across the rest of Europe, he is also viewed along with Spain's Fernando Torres of Atletico Madrid and Liverpool's Frenchman Florent Sinama-Pongolle as among the continent's best prospects.

Named after Ronald Reagan, because his father was an admirer of the former US president and one-time actor, Ronaldo now has the chance to shine in his very own Theatre of Dreams.

You clearly know jack shit, the reason Viana is not in the portuguese team regularly is because he doesn't have a first team place in newcastle, secondly when he has played for newcastle he has been terrific, thirdly Newcastle are better than your SHIT club sporting lisbon. so STFU
here's something you can understand: puta madre

Thats a good post Kevin. Puts a bit of perspective on things.

Tell you what. Reading that, Spurs seem to have got themselves a real coup. I'd never really heard of Postiga before they signed him. One to watch methinks.

Damn I knew there would be a down-side. Never mind.

Oh goody gum-drops its jelly bean treat time Nancy.

Saw him played against Man Utd last week and my first impression is he is like Fernando Torres of Athl Madrid. His lanky figure and skills is definitely better than Forlan and will definitely be a good backup/partner for RVN. He may seem overpriced compared to Quaresma but definitely looks cheap compared to Fernando Torres (valued at over 40mil by Chelsea). Let's give him a few games before jumping into any conclusions. Veron was highly rated when we bought him, but look what happens??

even if he was a flop!!......at 12 million its not going to be much of a loss(im allmost 100 percent confident he isnt though!)

1st Puta MADRE is Spanish..And i am not a Sporting fan..I am a FC PORTO/MAN UTD/AC MILAN fan..When i said that the Premiereship was the easiest..i only said that because a watch a lot of games from serie A/spanish league and premiereship..and you really dont need 2see all these leagues because your league its without a doubt the most exciting one but U got 2 addmit that the Italian serie A its the hardest(Rivaldo is playing frendly games with the reserves)(Ronaldo went out saying that we couldnt make anything)Thurram;Nesta;cannavaro, the best defenders are all there..the teams play with 2defensive midfielders..and the results are always 1-0 1-1.If we put a Figo or a Henry over there they are gonna run away..

You are just a glory hunter,a REAL(No,not that
Real)supporrter is the one who supports the manager, how can you be so sure it was a bad move, only time will tell, idiot.

BTW Vai se foder

I aint saying that we is a bad player. He was a good bid(when i said BAD MOVE) i was reffering 2 the 15M euros bid that they could make to Quaresma instead..QUARESMA was last years SPORTING STAR why didnt he bought him,Dont tell me that MAN bought him because he played good against MAN..If Quaresma were there he would make a bigger impression..WHY DIDNT BARCELONA BOUGHT RONALDO???Quaresma nickname its HARRY POTTER..

Alright if its not transfer muppets it's bumping years old threads muppets

We can bump these threads for all our players and in four years time we can do the same with Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves!!

With such a long and rich history is there really nothing left to discuss?

Quaresma? Is that the bloke that Quentin fortune had in his pocket in the USA? Seen him 4 times now and he's failed to impress me once.

Seen Ronaldo about the same number of times and he's impressed me on each occasion.

Great players, even on off days, will always do one or two things that show the class they have.

e.g. Zidane, Aimar, Deco, Cantona, Di Canio, Zola.

Ronaldo is definitely in that mould.

somebody knew what he was talking about

A reminder of just how long the Torres crap has infested this forum.

Still a very interesting thread. Surprised by the positive feedback on Ronaldo though by some posters
