I everyone i`am very happy to be a member of this site..I`am Portuguese and i now that ronaldo isnt a great player like you are talking about..He is god but not as a POSTIGA or QUARESMA..This ones are going to be on Portugal`s national team, maybe not in this EURO but someday, and Ronaldo that was a reserve player in SPORTING(coming from the bench many times to substitute Quaresma) will have to battle a lot to have a spot because in front of him there are many players.

I fear that might be your first and last post here ;)

N0 - you are very brave to come out with that! <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

He was purchased as a promising young player we didnt want to miss out on. He is younger than Quaresma but judging from their performances against Man Utd recently Ronaldo has enough ability to play against English defences right away.

He will be good back up and with Man Utd coaching and playing with better players he will improve.

He will be great for us. Hope he plays against Stoke.

we already have great players at OT.
However, we have been in desperate need for a god sinec Eric left, so at 12 million god is a bargain.

FFS, Heskey+1 million=God

;)

A resverve player who at 18 yrs of age was behind two older players despite their relative youth, a reserve who was widely acknowledged as being one of the best three players at the youth world cup not so long ago, a reserve player whose talents aroused the interest of not only United but Real, Chelsea, Liverpool etc etc

Yes he will be a god player but only because he is playing in the premiereship,,because if you saw the u`21 game Portugal Vs England 4-1..YOU know what i am talking about(the premiereship is maybe the easiest league of the top 3(italy,spain)
And the point is that if MAN utd had bought Quaresma it would be a dream, he was going to be the new nr 7.(CANTONA;DAVID;QUARESMA)he is 10times better than Ronaldo and he cost less money because he realy wanted 2go2 Barcelona..MAN we are the richest club in the world and we havent money to buy players..So we are buying reserves, Barcelona and real are stealing all the guys..

Who were the other two?

Quaresma? Is that the bloke that Quentin fortune had in his pocket in the USA? Seen him 4 times now and he's failed to impress me once.

Seen Ronaldo about the same number of times and he's impressed me on each occasion.

Great players, even on off days, will always do one or two things that show the class they have.

e.g. Zidane, Aimar, Deco, Cantona, Di Canio, Zola.

Ronaldo is definitely in that mould.

Come on MAN spend the money..Ronaldo is god agains english defences but that`s all QUARESMA is god with italian defenders excelent with all the rest and i dont wanna think him with english defenders(but i am just going 2say this see that last game between U21 Portugal Vs England 4-2 again)remeber when he dribled that defender and went back 2 dribling him again,,and that is nothing i have already seen him going from his defence 2 to the goal(but he missed)..NEXT year try 2 get DECO is older but is more mature..

I'm with Honest John... Quaresma did not impress me at all on the American tour. I honestly don't see what people see in him to rate him so highly. He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but he's being talked about as a legend already and I just don't see it. FFS, Quinton, as a makeshift left back, made him invisible!

Rooney and someone else - can't remember - it's in another thread about Ronaldo somewhere.

at this time i would normally come up with a comment that one of the players is shit, but since i've never seen either play i'll wait another week <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Well it seems to me that the guy who started the thread probably knows alot more about these players than anyone else, so should be given a little bit more respect.

Some of you are a right bunch of pricks - I'd like to see you go on a sporting forum with your best portuguese.

def... give the guy a break... hes seen the guy play more times than any1 on this board...

I've never seen the guy play and am a little sceptical abt Utd paying so much for a guy who has hardly played first team footie... but since i've never seen him play i'll reserve judgement... The 1 thing i've learned over the years is to never doubt the judgement of the great man... and if the players were begging Sir Alex to buy him then he must be some player!!

Lagostin - I respect your opinions since you've clearly seen the guy play more than any of us but I feel you are expecting too much for an 18 year old... at that age they show potential and you can't expect them to be the finished article and compare them with older players with more experience...

ps.)you need to add an extra "o" to "god" in order not to sound contradictory

A prick can be a useful thing anyway I was only joking with him. (or her)

The main reason he's rated so highly is because he's called "Ronaldo" <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Sir Alex Ferguson, most of the United team and all the scouting staff have fallen for that hook line and sinker then.

I don't want to hear this. It way be true, but I don't want to listen :D

We have bought an ajile player that has the possibility to shine in United. He may take a wrong turn, piss Fergie off and get booted out in 2 years... Who knows?

But, until that happens, I still have the one game I saw him in, in my mind. I still see his little flicks and tricks in our box as if that guy was afraid of no-one. We came off the back of Juve and Barcelona and this kid was playing a quick game of knock around with us.

His pace was outstanging, I thought when I saw him, that'd be nice to sign a young talent like that. When I found out we did, I was over the moon.

What a great summer we've had. Howard has turned out brilliant, Djemba is the man, Bellion a good buy (give-away) and we have so many expectation of Kleberson, but as an added treat, we'll see what this kid can pull off.

We may be looking at the next Zidane.

Who knows?

FFS..we beat Serie A champions Juventus 3 times in a row..and i think we beat them 2-0,4-1,4-0 !!!

Ronaldo is 2 years younger than both Postiga and Quaresma. Let's see how he develops - he could well turn out to be better than both after 2 years at United.

Oh, forget it. Both known Zidanes have left their respective clubs at the age of 24, so no chance with impatient Ronaldo

Agreed. Most people here spout on about him as if they're ardent fans of the portugeuse league.

What a tosser! I would say a Scouser or some other wanka in disguise. Ronaldo is f'in class and you know. Bitter, very bitter. I'll take our team right now, and the team it will become in 5 years, over any fackin' other!

Now piss off.

trust Fergie <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" /> <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" /> <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed up his words with actions by handing teenage sensation Cristiano Ronaldo the prized number seven shirt of David Beckham.

Ferguson has described the 18-year-old, who along with Brazilian World Cup winner Kleberson formed part of today’s £18million double swoop, as “one of the most exciting young players I have ever seen”.

The United staff who have seen him in action believe he could have as big an impact on the Premiership as fellow teenager Wayne Rooney and Ferguson admitted the Old Trafford squad pleaded with him to sign the striker following last week’s 3-1 friendly defeat in Lisbon.

“In the dressing room after the match last week the lads were talking about him constantly,” admitted Ferguson.

“On the plane back home from the game they urged me to sign him – that’s how highly they rated him. He is one of the most exciting young players I have ever seen.”

“Cristiano is an extremely talented footballer, a two-footed attacker who can play anywhere up front; right, left or through the middle,” said the Scot.

“We have been negotiating for him for quite some time but the interest in him from other clubs accelerated in the last few weeks, so we had to move quickly to get him.”

I respect your opinion but here are MORE opinions of portuguese fans on another forum in a thread dubbed "top 5 most promising talents in your country". They don't necessarily agree with you. A selection of the portuguese fans:

It's really a toss up. Some rate quaresma higher, some rate ronaldo higher, some just rank them in no particular order and are undecided. We'll just have to see what he's going to do for United and then judge <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

thanks for the post Kevin..

i reckon it depends on the manager as well..looking at how wenger transform henry into world beater now..

i trust fergie..with his guidance..i have no doubt that ronnie will excel..performing better than those lads..

yea
trust Fergie

This boy with good looks, great Legendary number, great skills, great potential to become the world's greatest!

It's been long since Fergie signed a young star. Anyone can recall who was the last young prodigy Fergie couped?

OK OK, when i am saying god i`aint saying that he`s god..it`s a joke (HELLO) like( MAN buy some one good)MAN=MAN UTD..My english isnt good enough because its rusty..One more thing when you got those extras like for example (portuguese young promisses) you didnt ask what was is club.(SPORTING 4sure because he put HUGO VIANA in the 1st place).everyone in PORTUGAL knows that Hugo Viana isnt good(if was really good do you think that we would be playing in Newcastle and that he wasnt allready call to the Portugese national team like POSTIGA)..
