Ronaldo was the greatest ever player to play for United but if he wants to leave let him off. I don't blame him for wanting to leave, he came back believing that we were a serious club who were on the threshold of winning the league, alas this wasn't the case. What he found was a club in a total mess, void of any leaders on or off the pitch.

The funny thing is he would score plenty of goals under ten hag if he hung around.
We as supporters have to realise that we are not the club we fell in love with under Fergie and have been to be reinvented, hopefully, ten hags can do it. I have a feeling at last we have people who know what they are doing off the pitch.
Ronaldo's legacy at United is intact, it's a pity we were in a mess when he came back as he can still score plenty of goals in a proper team.

Written by a true Ronnie fanboi.

I am genuinely surprised at so many people think he will be a big loss on the pitch..

He was never going to fit.. Didn't fit Ole's team, didn't fit Rangnick's style and wont fit ETH's.. The team isnt and shoundnt be built around him at this stage of his career..

He is still the GOAT and even when not fitting perfectly, he does contribute.. but we had to move on.. ideally this summer, even if he was staying..

If anything, this forces us to act now which is better.
I'll miss Ronaldo because I really like him.. but wont miss him on the pitch..

Very happy if he stays. Don't care if he wants to move .. Absolutely not worth the drama.

Sounds like he’s making the right moves to get these vulture owners out. Like him or loathe him, he loves the club and won’t let these owners get away with it. Brace move in my opinion and whatever the outcome I can only see it being good for us. If he stays it’s cause they’ve got their finger out of their ars3. If he leaves the fans will lose their 5hit and hopefully get the glazers out. Win win well played ronnny.
As in they're going to pack up because a 37 year old striker wants to leave.

Not just that he is 37 and turning 38 this season.. We also have the WC mid season..
I am pretty sure he will make sure he is in peak condition for the WC.. especially considering we arent challenging for the league..

This is actually unbelievable coming from a
United fan  . Of all the fanbases in the world that should know how ignoring that position can be a detriment to the balance of your team.
Name me one decent team in the world playing without a specialist defensive midfielder.
When Madrid plays with a Modrić Kroos midfield combination tell me which one is a defensive midfielder?

Seriously who the feck will be our goal getter, Rashford? Martial? ….we are up shit creek

People really have little faith in the new manager.

If he could make Haller and Tadić score goals i'm quite certain he'll make Rashford and Bruno score goals.

Not to mention Sancho and the possible adition of Antony.

Rashford and Bruno with 20 each, Sancho and Antony with 10 and that's 60 goals.

It's not like Ronaldo made some sick numbers in attack, he what, scored 18 goals?

sorry but I think you are living in dreamland if you think Rashford and Bruno will both score 20 goals. I see no evidence for this

That’s in the Dutch league though. Both players were bang average in the Premier League. Will be interesting to see how Haller does in the Bundesliga but I expect him to fail.

What do you mean no evidence?

Season before Ronaldo, Bruno scored 18.
Season before that, Rashford scored 17.

What more evidence do you need?

They are certainly capable of scoring 20 goals per season in the right team.

Two seasons ago, Rashford was a very different player to last season. And last season, Bruno was nowhere near the level of his first. Also, I'm afraid, as yet we are not the "right" team. One more point: it's league goals that matter most, not the total, in my opinion

Ronaldo at his prime led to the hiding of Benzema and Rooney.
That was as a LW.

As a ST the ‘hiding’ expands to a lot more to the team with him playing more centrally and older.

Well you wanted evidence.

And that are the league goals only.
Season before Ronaldo, Bruno scored 18.
Season before that Rashford scored 17.

I could argue that was under Ole, whose philosophy of attacking football is non existant, just let them play and have fun...

We now have a hands on manager who clearly has a plan and is aiming to execute it.
The man is a winner, and he'll make our players winners as well.

I'm pretty confident that Marcus and Bruno can score 20 goals each without Ronaldo.

This 100%.

If he stay, great, lets see how he performs in a proper system. If he goes then fine, thank for your efforts during the dysfunction palooza that was last season. Either way he is 37 and isnt the long term future of the club. My only issue is if he wants CL football he knew he wasn't getting that here months ago so why wait until now?

I still think there is a bit of a power play going on here to "match his ambitions", but we will see.

Yesterday he ASKED for a transfer, Today he is DEMANDING one. Newspapers having a ball.

His re-signing has been a disaster, he turned us into a one dimensional side last season with his ego demanding having everything to revolve around him on the pitch which was the same at juventus and madrid in his later years at the club, before he turned back up at united we had been a more well rounded attacking unit and now a season on with him and we are panicking were the goals are going to come from. Greenwood was a bigger loss than what ronaldo will be.

The much drama because of the alternative if he leave.

I think Ronaldo will suit ETH's tactic that crossing a lot and need a good header of ball. ETH's will suffer with Rashford and Martial who both are not good headers.

For people that watch United last season, Ronaldo wasn't also that static CF. He moved and making run a lot, in and outside the box. He didn't press much but his presence gave enough pressure to opponent's backline. And also his shielding of the ball is much better than Rashford or Martial will ever be.

Really hope this posturing is to push the Board to make better signings then he stays.

Even when he's on the bench?
Because Casemiro regularly starts on the bench for Real Madrid. I’m assuming your referencing him not starting against city when he was injured? That isn’t a regular occurrence just so you’re aware.

I was never a Ronaldo in, and I dont care if he leaves. We anyway need to replace him

The big question is if this "I'm leaving because United doesn't have ambition" is him trying to push the club into doing stuff, or him trying to save his face after ETH told him to feck right off.

The "lack of ambition" part is obvious bullshit. My theories are either one of the following:
  • He has spoken with Ten Hag, heard his demands about what Ten Hag wants from him on the pitch and feels it's not for him.
  • The relationship between him and his teammates is completely broken, he doesn’t trust them and they don't trust him.
  • Wants to play CL
  • Been told his games will be managed and he can see the warning signs.

Probably all of them combined into one, really. He’s a 38 year old who isn’t going to press, we aren’t in the CL, Ten Hag most likely won’t bend over for him as his undroppable striker, and there’s been plenty of reports that the dressing room was sort of split between him and another faction.

I just hope that, when Ronaldo eventually leaves again, we don't replace him with another 30+ year old striker.

Cringeworthy stuff.

It might be the best thing to happen for Ten Hag, it solves a huge issue he will face next season.

Huge loss; its his character in the dressing room but also his goals which will be irreplaceable. We now don't have a striker outside of Martial. Thats it. Martial/Rashford. We just lost 20 goals this season and you dont think thats a loss? You dont think Ronaldo could play in an ETH system? Tell me you know nothing about football without telling me. Yes we shouldnt be building a team around him at this stage of his career - but he was a perfect placeholder for us because we can't fix all our problems in one transfer window - especially when it looks like our budget is about £100-120m and 60 is going on FDJ. We're left with a backup leftback, a number 8, and a backup centre-half (Martinez) probably being our only signings - along with a possible backup midfielder (Eriksen). So this is last years squad, last year's characters, last years idiots who downed tools when they didn't like it - who literally REFUSED to implement Ragnick's system, wouldn't press for him - and the only ones who called them out - Ragnick - was sacked - and Ronaldo - basically forced out because the club wont invest properly.

I think he will be here and I think it will be a massive mistake. Just don't think he will fit how ETH wants to play. It was a vanity project bringing him back.

The utter stupidity of the fan base never cease to amaze.

I think if he wants out, he'll leave.

He is only motivated by individual accolades and trophy counts so if he's decided he won't get that here, he'll throw his toys out untill he's let go.

He should be let go as soon as possible, but ultimately it leaves us in a place of weakness in the forward line and in the market.

How much would we ask for, regarding a fee ?
I read he's reportedly on insane wages. 500k a week has been banded about.

Who do you see being the main goalscorer next season in the squad as it stands? We need to replace him if he leaves, we need another attacker even if he stays.

I want to see more goals from the whole team. Football has changed. It's not about the one guy scoring 20 goals a season anymore.

In theory Rashford, Sancho, Martial, Bruno and Elanga can all improve their output. A good coach with a good system will naturally allow these players to excel. I believe we have that now. They key to the system working is everyone working hard for each other. That is not Ronaldo and I'm glad he is going.

Imagine actually thinking Ronaldo is the reason the team got worse last season. We could've easily been in the bottom half without him.

That's why we finished with 16 more points and league goals the season before.

He isn’t/wasn’t. Hope this helps.

There's a difference between greatest player to ever play for United and greatest United player. Ronaldo is probably the former but maybe not the latter, all depending on your opinion of George Best's ten or so years at the club.

He was never going to fit.. Didn't fit Ole's team, didn't fit Rangnick's style and wont fit ETH's.. The team isnt and shoundnt be built around him at this stage of his career..

This is something that people just don't realize. If you're just a passenger on the field, not willing to press...you ain't gonna fit into a top team in 2022.

And people who say where would we be without his 24 goals...do they believe that we would've played 10v11 without Ronaldo? There would've been others scoring goals, like the season before.

We will find out soon enough I guess. I hope you are right but I fear you may be very wrong.
