RONALDO & FERGUSON....RUMORS

He would be great on loan to Utd. He could play with RVN or with OGS as he is a great all round player. The only problem would be his injuries. A loan would be ideal because we'd be able to see if he is playing well, esp. in England and then buy him if it is worth it. As for the likelyhood of the whole thing happening - I doubt it, but you never know..

The Ronaldo story is on the back page of the Daily Mail as well. It is the same story word for word as in Soccernet
Ronaldo to united?

I don't believe the tabloids, but if it really comes true, I'll be over the moon. If it's a loan deal and the Nike thing is true, why not for heaven's sake! Ronaldo is such a bloody good player, even if he's just half the player he once was, he's good enough. ;)

I dont know about this £25m talk and I think you guys are going into too much detail for something thats probably not true. We shouldn't just fill in the gaps ourselves like who else we'll buy or what the details of the offer are etc.

However he is the best player in the world, the only reason that Figo and Zidane have had all the limelight is because he has not been around. He makes them look ordinary, alot of people have forgotten just how good this guy is. Only two players in the world can do some of the stuff he does, Rivaldo and Ronaldo, and Ronny is better than Rivaldo and he is still young! We need an Owen/Henry type but theres only one Ronaldo and he'd do much better thanks.

Therefore I dont care what we pay, we'll be getting the best player in the world and as long as he is cheaper than Zidane (they should've learned their lesson) then its great news for Man Utd. PLC and FC alike.

All those people writing him off should keep quiet until they see him play for real. This is arguably the only guy playing right now who is genuinely world class aka up there with Pele and the great legends of all time. Its not my point of view but alot of football purists would say so.

Well, maybe not in the Pele class but certainly the best in the world when he's flying.

He is still the ONLY striker I have seen (those who are still playing) who can out-maneuveur TWO man markers and still score a cracker. No-one else can do that.

This talk of 25m is bullshit. Nobody would pay that much money for a player with his injury record. Besides, we could have signed him in his prime years ago for 18m, but we didn't, so why would we now ?

I agree that 25 million would be a huge gamble but when he was available for 18 million we never spent anywhere near that amount on a player

I wouldn't say that the Daily Mail was a newspaper

Has any 1 got a clip of his goal for barca vs madrid i think where he ran from the halfway line past 4 players and scored, that goal is truly breath taking

I run a papershop and Daily Mail is the best of the lot!

I cant comment on how genuine the news is, you never know about those until they happen. But Daily Mail has good writers and they dont seem anti-Man Utd, the analysts make sense, they dont trick the reader into a certain opinion or anything.

Just straightforward football jounalism - none of that bull$hit like "touch the foot" or 'lets all laugh at Man Utd and have a dig at Veron for half a year' crap. I tend to trust them more as a football fan.

That said though I haven't looked at a back page since we lost to Leverkusen - just too painful. Maybe I'll run downstairs and grab one.

*sigh*

Giggs is barely world class. He is only awesome in our eyes. Could Giggs score that Zidane goal in the CL Final?

NO ONE can do what Ronaldo can, including Zidane/Figo.

He is out of this world.

Thats on a legendary scale i.e. Hall of Fame.

In todays game Giggs is one of the best left wingers, but he cant do what some of these guys do. Giggs is all about running with the ball and speed. The rest of his game is just not world class. He doesn't have the skill of a legendary player like Best.

You can't lower your standards of what world class/legendary is just to accomodate a good player.

Bullshit. You don't have to score goals like Zidane did to be a world class player. Giggs is the best LM in the world, and that is a fact. Ask any big club and they'd take him in a flash.

Yes you're right.

But does that mean he can turn two markers and score a cracker? I believe that was the initial question.

My point is, George Best is truly world class. Some people would say you have to be on his level to be world class. That would mean that many players out there today could not be considered world class.

Then theres world class as in who is good on a world level right now.

I dont subscribe to either opinion. I think Giggs is the best LM in the world, he just doesn't sho wit enough for my liking - still love him though.

Doesnt change the fact that he cant do what some of these other guys do though. He is all about speed.

giggs and ronaldo are two differant world class players. ronaldo is far more explosive , especially in shorter distances. he can shke and bake if you will. close ball control and a good shot w/service from MU's MF . look out! and on loan , kin perfect!

Barthez

Ayala Thuram Brown

Keane

Beckham Giggs
Veron/Scholes

Rivaldo

Van Nistelrooy Ronaldo

i Hope Keanos got his superman outfit on trying to protect the defence in that layout

As a general rule:

Soccernet = Bollocks usually ;)

As we're on the issue. I wouldn't mind Ronaldo, but, he's a bit of a risk with the injuries. But, his recent return of form, and the prospect of a good world cup. Could be good, had it been true ;)

He may not be on the same level as Zidane, but whether he's world-class or not is something he's never had the chance to properly proove at a world cup, against the world's best.

Its the players career which decides if they are world class or not, not some 4 week tournament.

Giggs is the best in the world at what he does. But he does it too rarely and the other aspects of his game are very eratic.

Daily Mail reported the same story - and its been heard around for a long time hasn't it?

We can hope can't we?

If it were true [and only if] we would have to take him if only to have an influence on the young strikers at united, just imagine what they could learn from him! Even if he never played a game. He could bring on Forlan in leaps and bounds. ;)

Actually it was Compostella and not Real, but that was a longggggg time ago.

So that goal against Arsenal in 99 wasn't a turning of two? three? markers and scoring a cracker? What about the third goal against Juve in the 3-2 victory at Old Trafford some seasons back. And the recent one against Deportivo. True they may not be in the mould of a Ronaldo special but if that's not World class, I don't know what is.

his close control is amazing..no one in the world can run with the ball at the speed he does.. (the ball's glued to his feet)

Ronaldo's is off to Anfield anyway in the summer!!!

Ronaldo to sign for Liverpool

Ronaldo will never play for United simply because we can not pay his wages.

He was bitching last week because he nets ONLY 6 million Euros a year in wages, while Recoba is getting 8, and Vieri 10.

What the feck, I mean the guy has been vacationing in Brazil/Switzerland for the last 2 years, playing 2-3 games a season, netting 6 million Euros in salaries alone, and now he wants more???

And do you think he'll accept less from United? Or will the PLC break the whole wage structure because of him?

Nice dreaming people, wake up, time to go to work ;)

Yo AC. PM in a sec....

You might find that if there was ever a wage issue - Nike would step in......

They would much rather see him in another nike shirt than lets say Adidas!!

They could increase his sponsorship knowing that Ronaldo in a United top would make them big money in sales!

Ronaldo would accept a reasonable contract offer from United for the simple fact he wants to get his career back on track. Somehow I don't think finance will a problem.
