much more original and less formulaic than most transfer bullshit .... however i will only beleive it when he is at OT in a UNITED shirt - which coincidently is the same time i will be fecking over the moon with joy becasue UTD will have signed a fecking marvellous player who still has a shit load to offer world football.

YES! YES! YES!

As long as the price tag is 25m or less. Bring in Ronaldo, ship out Veron to Lazio for Nesta and purchase a FB. Instant Treble.

Well, maybe.

I think Ronaldo has had it. His injuries were too serious and I can't see him ever again being the player he was. Shame, cos he was special but I'd rather we didn't show the slightest interest in him and I don't want Nike sticking their oar in eiter.

7 goals in 10 games last season. If he can return to his pre 1998 form, or even improve on it, he will be the best player in the world. Buy him now before the World Cup.

His pace would be a great complement to RVN's size and strength. With the service United's forwards get, he'd score bunches.

I wonder how many fans on this forum didn't want United to purchase RVN after his devastating knee injury...he came back, which means his body is stronger or he had the best medical staff. Ronaldo may be done, but he had a strong last month or so with Inter which makes me think he could be back. The World Cup could showcase if he still has it or has completely lost it. I still wouldn't want SAF to invest more than 25m in him and he'd have to except a controlled wage that escalates on performance.

It happened TWICE to Ronaldo. He's been out for 2 years. 25m doesn't make sense. He'll only be interesting IF he has a good FULL season next year.

Its got all the makings of a bollox story, then again its one that keeps on popping up.

Its unlike the press to see this as a big story the way they did Veron so its probably some agent spreading stuff rather than journalist.

Which means Ronaldo is perhaps looking to move or get a pay rise or perhaps just raise his profile before the world cup.

But this Nike/Ronaldo thing would definitely make my Summer, even if we didnt get Mexes and Liverpool get Cisse. Perhaps anyway.

Are you all crazy or what, if he came he would shit opposing teams to man marking him.

and if he came on loan wi th saa view toa permenent transfer, which would have his possibility of injury insured like RVN.

then why not
fergie would be mad not to take advantage of such an opportunity , as he has been after him for years, now he can get him on cheap.

well cheaper than he would cost after (hopefully) a good world cup.

fergie buy him and one W/class centre back and a irwin type right/left sided fullback

If it is a one-year loan with a purchase/return clause, then SAF and the PLC would be foolish not to take him. They could still purchase a CB, FB, and backup wing without breaking the bank. If this story is true or close enough, our #9 will be Ronaldo. Then next summer, Ronaldo is either a Red for x amount of years or going back to Inter.

25m ? If it is true: shit.

The guy is good but is worth nothing like that amount. He was brilliant pre-world cup fiasco, but it is a huge risk offering that ammount of money for a man who has hardly strung together two consecutive matches since 1998. We took a risk with Ruud though, and that paid off, so I maybe being a bit unfair to him. He is still young and could well get his career back on track. The Nike deal could be crucial. The loan deal sounds good, but then if he impresses his potential price will rocket.

i like the idea of us taking him on a one year loan...

'United would be unwilling to buy Ronaldo, but could take him on loan for a year. If Nike or Inter help with the Brazilian's salary the deal becomes more attractive. His previous club Barcelona, another sponsored by Nike, are also interested'

But what about Ole! :(

What about Ole? We need a striker, period. If Ole is such a terrific player (and he is) then he can beat any competition to get a place in the lineup.

I dont know about this £25m talk and I think you guys are going into too much detail for something thats probably not true. We shouldn't just fill in the gaps ourselves like who else we'll buy or what the details of the offer are etc.

However he is the best player in the world, the only reason that Figo and Zidane have had all the limelight is because he has not been around. He makes them look ordinary, alot of people have forgotten just how good this guy is. Only two players in the world can do some of the stuff he does, Rivaldo and Ronaldo, and Ronny is better than Rivaldo and he is still young! We need an Owen/Henry type but theres only one Ronaldo and he'd do much better thanks.

Therefore I dont care what we pay, we'll be getting the best player in the world and as long as he is cheaper than Zidane (they should've learned their lesson) then its great news for Man Utd. PLC and FC alike.

All those people writing him off should keep quiet until they see him play for real. This is arguably the only guy playing right now who is genuinely world class aka up there with Pele and the great legends of all time. Its not my point of view but alot of football purists would say so.

Man Utd are not allowed to loan non-EU players

Oh wait, this is real life not CM ;) ...

A loan deal would be ideal. If he shines we keep him. If he blows out his knee, we ship him back to Inter.

No one should be against this. ;)

Agree. If it is a loan deal (and the rumour is true that Nike will help us for his wage), then there is no point for us to reject anything. Although the chance may not be big, but if he can really return to where he is before the injury problem, who is a better forward than him in this world?

Plus another world class free kick taker!

A loan deal would be superb if we had a straight option of signing after that time has passed for a reasonable price. But what would his wage demands be like ? With image rights to think of, the PLC would take some convincing imo.

Why won't he come on loan ?

Too risky if he gets injured on loan
They get nothing and everyone else will lose interest..Teams rarely loan out big players with dodgy injury records

What are you talking about? Ronaldo on loan for nothing? When there is a posibilty we can also get Rivaldo too? And you call that a risk?

It would be unbeliveable for United. Imagine an In form ronaldo with Rudd. Move over the cisse to anfiled rumours. thi takes the cake if it is true :D

For once I agree with Kemo! The possability of linking Ronaldo and Rivaldo together would be frightning and with the probalble signing of two center backs from choice of Europes finest It would possable to revert to a Real Madrid type formation:
Barthez

Ayala Thuram Brown

Keane

Beckham Giggs
Veron/Scholes

Rivaldo

Van Nistelrooy Ronaldo

This team could be real possbality is you agree with this mornings (Saturday) that Fergie could be given another £50 million after recouping around £15 million from the sales of:
Yorke £8 million
Forune unfortunately through work permit £3 milion
Wallwork £3 million
Rubchuka £1 million
Fergie gets £35 million, £30 million it to spend of Ayala and Thuram with the extra £5 million and the £15 million from sales can be spent on Rivaldo with Ronaldo coming on loan.

4 million more like and Rachubka has been sold for 200k

CL manager was never this much fun

What exactly have Rivaldo and Ronaldo done in the last 2-3 years that they should be so frightning? Rivaldo is just not a team player. He's a brilliant individual, who's personal success has always come at the expense of his team mates.

Real Madrid's formation is actually... 4-4-2, atleast in basic, but they do play with two center halves and two attacking full backs, not three centerhalves and two wing backs who are hardly defenders. Giggs and Beckham as wing backs? What a bloody waste.

Just a quick question, who was the last South American player to actually make an impact in the EPL? The only to even come close was Juninho Paulista with Boro, frankly speaking they do not have a good track record in the EPL. So why spend all this money for two players who might just turn out to be absolute flops in the EPL. Ron was a great player, will he ever regain that form, maybe, but the EPL might a bit too much for him at this point. Rivaldo is a great individual player but his presence at United might be a bit too disruptive. Would rather if United was able to find another gem like OGS from Scandinavia, their players have a much better track record in the EPL.

I thought he played some really good footbal for Boro during the 1st half of the season and then he was dropped after few inconsistent performances in the 2nd of the season

loco - ossie and richie at spurs a long time ago. but ronaldo has played well in spain , italy and holland (albeit a million yrs ago). and if it is a loan ,well go get him.

I tend to agree on Ronaldo (though I can't see it happening). We need a player like him (when fit and in form anyway) but the big money will surely be for the defence this summer. If we can get Ronaldo on loan for the season with an option to buy him, it's a no brainer, unless we have 'The new Ronaldo' lined up on the cheap.
