there was a bloke from a french sports paper on talksport who is well in at psg and said that united agents have been in contact with psg and that a deal is close to being signed for the jan window

psg are said to be desprate for funds and ronaldinho wants to join us bad and has done since the world cup

this bloke is a top writer for one of the leading papers in france

lets hope this is feckin true

They were talking about Ronaldinho on MUTV as well, saying were definitely interested in him, but Summer was much more likely than January, and to expect little movement in the winter window.

Me too, Byland would be a much better buy IMHO.

12/15/2002. Ronaldinho told local newspaper Le Parisien that he will not leave Paris Saint-Germain in January as he is pessimistic about getting the sort of move he is looking for. "There is no such thing as a major transfer in the January market. I'll wait until the end of the season to assess my possibilities".

Is he cup tied? Were any figures mentioned? I would guess the price has gone done a bit since the summer.

I didn't listen to Talksport last night, but I know that French guy often seems to know what he's talking about. When others on the show were inisisting last year that Vieira was going to Real Madrid, he said that his sources said that Vieira was staying at Arsenal.

If we have the money now and Ronaldinho's the one we want, I don't see the point in waiting 'til the summer even if he is cup-tied.

I think he is cup tied (I could be wrong though). Can't see us going after either Cisse or Ronaldinhio until the summer.

He has played in the UEFA cup for PSG, os he is cup tied.

I would still take him for the league though. That's the most important trophy to win this season IMO.

What's his name? I'll tell you if he's serious.

I'd like to see him at OT because he's better than Cisse, that's for sure. His skills are better than Giggsy's and since he's Brasilian (and from what I've seen of him) he's very fast.
You can't unlock defences by speed (it's hard to get that into some people's heads) ie Henry, Owen as shown against United and in the WC, but you can do that with players who can drible past one or two players and therefore streach the defense and free other players (as shown in the WC ie Ronaldinho against England, or as Bergkhamp does for arse.)
Skill is the key (Cantona) not speed (Owen)

Elfie, has there been any press about Cisse and Man Utd in France ?

Such as this ?? :D

That should be another topic. Here, we talk about the future United legend, RONALDINHO

;)

Ronaldinho is in many ways an Henry type player - quick with good ball skills. But he is more creative and has better dribbling skills. He would be awesome IMO and he'd set the Premiership alight immediately.

An excellent post indeed. Anyone slagging Ronaldinho is an idiot IMO.

He missed a few penalties during the last couple of weeks so if he joined us let's hope that he leaves penalty taking to van but no strong feelings either way.

Cisse and Ronaldinhio are different players and imo shouldn't be compared to one another. Cisse offers more as an outanout striker. He has speed (much more than anyone we have) and is an excellent finisher which I think would benefit RVN as well. Ronaldinhio would work well in a 4-4-1-1. His creativity would do well in taking the pressure off the lone striker. Either way, we'd be a much better club with either player.

To emphasize the differences between the two players - just yesterday on the telly they showed a clip of Cisse lashing in a superb goal from about 25 yards on the right side of the area, then showed Little Ronny dazzling his way past five players before just missing.

 It can happen to everyone. It doesn't mean much anyway. How often would Cisse score from 25 yards? And how about Ronny after he dribled past 5 players as you said?

Either one we get, I'll be happy and I think they'll do well, but I think that Ronny might be a better option...

Personally I think having Ronaldinho would be a bad thing, I don't know why were not looking at some of our home grown talent to filter through, the quality is there if it is given a chance

thing is...ronaldinho or cisse, who would you pick?. If we dont get ronaldinho, the dippers or arse might cash in on Cisse, or vice versa and i know i sure as hell wouldnt want either of them at rival clubs

and to be fair, ive seen both players have dodgey moments, in the french league this week ronaldinho missed a penalty and several sitters but ive seen cisse miss some howlers aswell. So u cant judge the player by one clip

quality of Ronaldinho or Cisse? I dont think so yaps, and i dont think saf thinks so either or we wouldnt be needing to spend to buy the best. saf knows anything less than the very best, we already have. but he still wants to go for the very best.

Wonderful . . .

I'd still rather see home grown talent in that team than anything, they play their hearts out and would like to see someone else in there rather than having to go and spend,we don't have a huge Youth system for nothing . . . .

Ronaldinho race is on Friday 27 December, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ronaldinho is increasingly likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January so Inter and Juventus have sparked a bidding war with Manchester United.

The Brazilian World Cup winner has never had a good rapport with Coach Luis Fernandez, but this week the club has confirmed he will sit on the bench until the end of the season.

The French side is also struggling with financial problems, so the sale of a £20m-rated star would boost their ailing coffers.

Inter have the upper hand as Ronaldinho has long been a target for President Massimo Moratti, who made a bid two years ago.

The Nerazzurri may well need another boost in attack following a spate of injuries to Christian Vieri, Hernan Crespo, Mohamed Kallon and Nicola Ventola.

The stuttering form of Alvaro Recoba may see the Uruguayan included in a potential swap deal with PSG.

Juventus are also on the look out for a creative force as David Trezeguet is still dealing with knee ligament worries and Marco Di Vaio has disappointed since his move from Parma.

The Bianconeri would offer Marcelo Salas as part of the deal – although the Chilean does not want a mid-season switch – or Uruguayan forward Marcelo Zalayeta.

Milan are an outside bet to win this race with an offer of Danish international Jon Dahl Tomasson, though it is unlikely Ronaldinho will be added to their Brazilian contingent.

The main rivals to Inter and Juventus are Manchester United. It is reported that Sir Alex Ferguson could release Diego Forlan as a sweetener for the deal in addition to ready cash.

ok i dont know how true this is, but getting Ronaldinho, as good as he is, would mess us up even more. Right now we have Scholes fillin in the hole and doing a ok job of it. when he isnt the 2nd striker we have Forlan and Ole as our 2nd strikers. Not to mention Giggs can do it.

Ronaldinho will be our main choice 2nd striker then? But Ole and Forlan are damn near useless as first strikers. and what of scholes then?

we would be paying £20mill for someone who will unsettle the balance, the squad, take time to settle and probably wont save our season. more like wreck it.

when we could instead spend £15mill on Gudjohnsen or ANYONE who can score goals and be our front man. Shevchenko would be lovely, as would Cisse. someone like john hartson could save our season simply by coming in for £8mill and scoring 10 goals.

ronaldinho now would be madness, absolute madness. jan window is our only chance to save this season.

let us pray that this Cisse news is more reliable than the Ronaldinho news.

how can getting ronny be madness????

when we are playing as shite as that (last 2 matches), we need a bit of invention, skill and speed, instead of putting ferdinand on we could put a class attacking player.

also ronny would give Beckham and Giggs a kick up the backside (especially Giggs)as he can also play as a winger.

IMO I would prefer Cisse, first b4 ronny, but ronny is my 2nd choice if we get a striker in January.

are PSG still in the UEFA Cup? If not then he may as well come here as its no euro football either way.

Just imagine their faces at the library when he lines up against seaman

:D

Ronaldinho = Yorke. In spite of his angelic face, he behaves in Paris like Yorke used to in Manchester. The PSG manager thinks he's not enough commited to his club. We thought that Fernandez would be sacked but apparently he will stay . It means that Ronaldinho will probably leave. But even if he's a great talent , I don't see which player he would replace...

As long as the players produce on the pitch, I don't think Fergie minds too much what they do off it. It's when it starts to affect their play on the pitch(like it did with Yorke and has happened to becks at times) that Fergie gets pissed off. Then the player can either tone it down(Becks) or carry on regardless(Yorke). You can see how they have both fared.

Ok, so say we sign Ronaldinhio. Where does he play, who gets dropped. I know the argument about squad rotation, injuries etc. but someone is going to go down the pecking order a step.
There have so many posts on here about Ronaldinhio since the world cup and i still can't work out whether he's a centre forward or a centre midfielder.
If we're signing him as a centre forward then i think there are better. Kliuvert, Shevchenko, Saviola, DeFoe.
Centre Midfielder, we're hardly short of them.
If it's less than £20million then it worth thinking about if not forget it.

He wouldn't cost more than 10-12 mil...He'd play behind Ruud (since Fergie will likely persist with 4411) If he wanted to play 442, then perhaps Cisse would be better. I think that Cisse will cost more though..
