Romeo Lavia | Chelsea bound?

I honestly don't understand this love/want of Rabiot, we have already approached the player and it was becoming a sh*tshow so we pulled out.

That hasn't changed, him and his mum will most likely bring a circus and disruption to what seems to be a settled dressing room.

That bolded statement is hyperbole at it's finest, from what I've seen from Sabitzer both at club & national is he's a forward thinking midfielder who we are playing deeper, he hasn't played beside Case for any real length of time to see what he can do, which he recently showed what he's capable of for Austria.

If we are going by your example of trimming the fat.

VDB & McT out that leaves 5 midfielders for 3 positions.

Sign Lavia & FDJ for example we're back to 7.

With 45-65 games a season, potential for lengthy injuries and suspensions 7 is perfect cover.

Casemiro/Lavia
FDJ or Bellingham or*New 8*/Eriksen/Fred
Bruno/Sabitzer/Eriksen

It’s just football mate. Not footballers wives. Please bring me a story of Rabiot being disruptive at Juventus  . These soap operas have to stop. He’ll want a decent amount being on a free and that will be as difficult as it gets as far as Rabiot goes.

I have no issue with what Sabitzer is and his style. The problem I have is it doesn’t fit in when the next phase of what ETH is building.

I seen the highlights of his international game.. takeaway the fact they are playing Azerbaijan.. he just looked like any Bruno compilation playing for Sporting.

This is not the direction of where ETH wants his midfielders to be. Lavia on the other hand makes a lot more sense for the 5 CMs we need. I don’t know where you are going with 7.

The good thing about Sabitzer is that he can play lots of positions so is a good squad player if he’s cheap enough

McTominay and Van de Beek should be the first to go out of that lot.

Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno should obviously stay.

Fred and Sabitzer are maybes

We don’t need that though. We just need a starter who can control the midfield and a backup for Cass. That’s it. Sabitzer ain’t neither.

Yes, but let’s say we got rid of McT, VDB and Fred (and kept Sabitzer as a utility squad player) - that’s three out, why couldn’t we bring another two in - the two you said?

I understand that. But why such a drastic overturn.

Fred has 12 months left. Just keep him. As much as it’s in VDB best interest to leave. No1 is buying him after such a big injury so I guess he stays.

Hard to know how he will develop given he’s only 19 but at this point he looks like a pure destroyer to me. I don’t see anything special on the ball. He’ll be a fit for some systems but not others. I can see why City decided to move him on because he wouldn’t work in the Rodri role.

would rather we had him than say McTominay, as he'd give us more balance in the squad

don't think we should be spending a lot though as he doesn't look that great on the ball

if he's cheap and we can move on McT, then great

They bought Kalvin Phillips for 50m just before so that probably has to do with it.

That hasn't worked out but they decided to include a buy back option though so don't think they completely wrote him off yet either.

12 months?!

Didn't do much of note in what was a fecking dire game of football, but he's so assured on the ball. Very press resistant and usually plays the right pass with the right amount of pace. Would be such a good signing to make.

Didn’t watch the whole match but seemed like his passing was quite safe.

Saw a lot of side and back passes even when his team was needing of a goal.

He doesn't stand out a ton, but with that said -- as a CDM, in the Premier League, playing for a team like Southampton, for 90 minutes -- overall his performance is remarkable and there probably aren't 30 CDM's out there in the world who can play at that level.

Would love to get him or Ugarte.

Need relegation for decent price

Unbelievable performances every time I have seen him play; Southampton capitulated after he was subbed off due to cramp.

It is so obvious he (19 years old) would be perfect as an understudy for Casimero (30 years old). Somehow I feel that Liverpool will swoop in whilst we go again for a playmaker all summer.

Thought he was very good yes. Composed on the ball, also won it plenty, can't say fairer than that from a young lad in an atmosphere like that.

Compared to the prices bandied about for Caicedo and Macallister, probably cost half as much and be as good if not better.

After watching him tonight, I'm fully convinced he should be our next signing. The ability to keep the ball under pressure was superb and exactly what we lack.

How have City got so many ex-youth players playing well in the Premier League?

They’ve got Lavia performing great at Soton. We’ve got Garner being the invisible man at Everton :nervous:

Wouldn’t mind at all if we can get him for 35-40m ish, only chance is if Soton get relegated though, otherwise he’d cost 60m+ in this market.

Probably has something to do with their owners actually investing in their academy. It's hardly like they were known for producing talented youngsters pre-takeover, as much as Micah Richards will try convincing people otherwise

Ambitious club gets both but unfortunately until these leeches are fecked off we will have to sacrifice something we badly need

Would love him as a back up to Casimiro

Maybe I haven’t seen enough to know how good a passer he is but based on what I have he appears to be a must sign for us. Should be reasonable if they don’t stay up and his dribbling in deeper areas will help us a huge deal in not crumbling under the press. He’s miles better than what we have in this regard.

He was a product of Anderlecht, and sign a pro contract w City, barely spent 2 years at City then was sold. He was seen by Pep during a youth tournament hosted in Belgium by KDB.

It has nothing to do with the owners investing or not investing. United have invested and developed youth players and continue to do so. If Lavia is this good, why didn't he stay at City for another year instead of buying Kalvin Phillips?

Angel Gomes playing well in France, Andreas Pereria playing well for Fulham. Even Welbeck is still hanging around in England with Brighton. Ollie Norwood at Sheffield United. Some kid named Garnacho.

He's going to choose a club where he will start. He'd not coming here to be "Casemiro backup"

Maybe but no big club is going to give him a starter role. Whereas with us he will get plenty of game time given the state of our midfield.

Yeah he can go to for ex Brighton when they sell Caicedo, but we should get Lavia for cheaper instead of Caicedo.

It's crazy how good he looks while playing as a DM for the worst team in the league at 18/19. Elite potential in him. He's a can't miss for me.

Very impressive last night. Stood out in a motivated but limited team.
i remember Pep made a bee line to talk to him after City‘s recent game at Southampton but to take him back this summer we’d need to give up on Phillips after one poor season which would be a bit humiliating for both parties.
Unfortunately I think you’d probably get him if he’s the one you want.

We wouldn't over you

would he come to city with rodri at the peak of his powers? not sure abt citys plans but heard gundogan may be leaving...so maybe someone else comes in for gundogan

He’ll get plenty of game time. Casemeiro is no spring chicken and they can play together as well.
we have seen links with macallister.....macallister and lavia for around 100 mil with the sale of mctominay makes perfect sense I think... maybe sell fred as well if we get a good offer and promote kobbie mainoo if he is ready

It's easy to forget Lavia's still a teenager. Playing and looking as comfortable as he does in the middle of the park at his age is very impressive. I'd take him, but we still need to sign another midfielder to go with him.
