Romelu Lukaku

Came back after injury tonight coming on after 59 mins against TNS and scored twice in a 3-0 win for Anderlecht

He's meant to be a big Chelsea fan and also a fan of Drogba. Story was released a week or two ago saying that Drogba had phoned him personally.

Jesus Christ he is absolutely massive. He's like twice the size of the defender in that first goal.

I'm a little sceptical about this guy, he wouldn't he the first youngster who looked outstanding because he's fully physically developed at an early age but ends up not being a world beater when the rest of his age group catches up, Obi Mikel for one and there's an element of this is Rooney's supposedly stagnated development.

I'm guessing Macheda would be equally effective in their league.

No one has tried to use his age to account for his performances. His sheer size and relative prolificacy are what have gotten people banging on about him. He has done well regardless of his age but whether he may be able to transform his form away from the Belgian league is another question altogether.

Seems we will be in another "battle" next year or so with Madrid over Lukaku, if he continues his goal scoring exploits.

Football365 | All The News | Football News | MOURINHO: OZIL CAN DAZZLE

One player seemingly not making the move to Madrid this summer is Romelu Lukaku, the 17-year-old Anderlecht striker who has caught Mourinho's attention.

"His father is very intelligent and will not let his son go now," said Mourinho. "We will see next season."

His surname has to be said with a Vic Reeves voice.

Lu Ka Ku

What happens if he has another growth spurt coming?

6'4'' was just a starting point at 16 for some NBA basketball players. He'd be the smallest guy on the court for a lot of basketball teams.

At a certain point having additional size ceases to be an advantage in football, I would imagine.

Unless of course, theoretically he could gain in size, but not losing anything in agility/speed - which is probably wishful thinking. (think Jan Koller, Crouch etc).

Another goal for Lukaku tonight as Anderlecht went out on penalties after a 2-2 draw against Partizan Belgrade. He also had 2 goals disallowed for offside 1 of them he was definitely onside for.

That was amusing, clearly onside for what would have been the winner and then got booked as he had ripped his shirt off in celebration

Yeh the second one he was onside.

The first one, the play had stopped and he just put it in anyway, wouldn't have said that was a clear 'goal' if you know what I mean.

I can't believe he is really 17.

2 very good goals for Lukaku tonight in a 2-0 win against st truiden

It's irrelevant as he's already playing in a senior league.

This guy looks enormously impressive.

Both very well taken goals, I'm really looking forward to seeing how good he'll be in a few years.

Lukaku scored the opener tonight in a 3-0 win against Kortrijk

He's going to Arsenal according to CaughtOffside

Arsenal have won the race to sign Anderlecht's 17-year-old striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian international, rated at £12.5m, has been tracked by the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

But having said that, CaughtOffside also reckon Barcelona are going to sign Denilson :wenger:

Apparently Anderlecht turned down a 20 million euro bid for Lukaku from an English club just before the end of the transfer window

I read that Arsenal were after his brother Jordan Lukaku, which is where some of the Romelu rumours originate.

I can't really see Arsenal bidding £20m for a 17 year old, most likely Chelsea as an eventual replacement for Drogba.
