A few reports saying coming out in the last few minutes saying Everton have rejected the 75 million offer.

I am resigned to loosing him but i believe we could definitely get another 20 million added to that few.

Wtf, that came out of no where. Not sure how I feel about it, presume fee is with add-ons. If Mou can stop him from being a lazy git at times than great, but I did have preference on Morata if we were really in for him.

What. A. Signing.

I'm still none the wiser, nobody is sharing anything with me. But other journalists have definitely been made aware that United and Everton are tieing up lose ends on a huge deal. Apparently United - who deal in USDollar - have had a bid of $95m accepted by Everton. Player agreed on terms months ago. Lukaku was ALWAYS Mourinho's first choice (news to me) and he has been really frustrated that this wasn't wrapped up weeks ago as Lukaku and Mourinho always knew this move was on this summer. Lukaku said in May he knew where he was going in the summer, we all assumed Chelsea, he meant Man United,

He ticks every box we need ticking in a centre-forward. We failed at scoring enough goals against bottom half teams, Lukaku buries bottom half teams with half-chances. He is perfect for us. I had doubt over Morata being a success here. I have no doubt about Lukaku whatsoever.

Are you a journalist or somehow ITK?

Why was the deal delayed for so many weeks if it was always on?

Does Perisic make more sense now?

Either this is why we're desperate to sign him, or it's complete bullshit and we've already actually signed Bale?

Did Beattie score 100+ goals in 5 consecutive seasons, whilst being 19-24? I somehow doubt so.
I don't know why people look down on players like Bent, Beatie or Phillips. Yeah they weren't Henry or Ronaldo but they scored those goals and won points just as well.

Horses for courses. Spurs got rid of Bent and Defoe, they were searching for a decent goalscorer until Kane came along. I bet these lads would have done a job compared to Soldado or Pavelchenko or whatever. I bet Boro wished they had James Beattie on form when they signed that Alves fella.

Its either 75m without Rooney or 90m with Rooney or 200M with Rooney and Fellaini. Take your pick

That would make me happier. :) Whether its from Utd or Chelsea. He ain't no Ibrahimovic or Costa.

I have watched Beattie and Lukaku both for Everton. It is insulting to Lukaku even comparing them.

He scored a hatrick against us.

Ya, lets take into account that was the final game of the season though, we treated the game as much as a going away party for Sir Alex as "serious business" for a result. He's been garbo against us a number of times since.

He's a perfect signing. I remember the interview with Jose maybe 4 years back when he criticized lukakus desire because he wasn't first choice when he first came to Chelsea. Now he's being signed as a proven PL goal scorer for £75m and will undoubtedly be first choice, and it'll play out as mourinho always knowing that lukaku would turn into a top player, which he is.

Emile Heskey: 633 apps, 130 goals.
Romelu Lukaku: 259 apps, 139 goals. (All of this while he is only 24)

Yeah, totally the new Emile Heskey buddy. Walk it off mate and wobble your head.
You might want to look into what a winking smiley means, mate...

Apart from Morata what other realistic striker was available that was better than Lukaku in replacing Ibra for us? Even Morata is debatable. Considering the circumstances and the obvious potential of Lukaku to be the best striker in England, I would be ecstatic over this transfer. I can't believe so many are so unhappy about this.

All these talk about goal scoring stats which he's alright at. Lets not forget the big strong similar player in Drogba was considered world class by most, yet his league goal scoring isn't that impressive at all.

In his 8 Primer League Seasons
  1. 10 goals
  2. 12 goals
  3. 20 goals
  4. 8 goals
  5. 5 goals
  6. 29 goals
  7. 11 goals
  8. 5 goals
100 goals in 226 games.

I think we still get morata too lads.

Madness.

He'll get us goals and give pogba martial etc space to do their thing. One of the best PL strikers who still has improvement in him. This is a Fergie type signing and its two fingers to Chelsea too. Let them try out the untested belotti. It's much more of a gamble. And Rooney leaves too. Sweet.

It's a decent indicator, obviously. What I took issue with is that his goalscoring record alone makes it ridiculous that some people don't rate him. There are valid reasons to not rate Lukaku that highly. It's certainly not laughable, despite his decent and consistent record for mid-table Premier League teams.

Interesting alright. I'd have preferred Morata too but Lukaku's more likely to not fail here, if that makes more sense.

Who knows how moving onto a bigger stage will affect Lukaku. Either he will step up and grow better or shrink under the limelight. Let's see.

Can't see him shrinking, the way he talks about himself and has done for years. This is the stage he believes he should be at. Also, he's playing up and ahead of his years, for years. I can't see his ability to cope with pressure etc being a problem.

Another small bonus is that Pogba and Lukaku are good friends, which obviously helps team harmony. Also, this...

Fecking beasts.

Norwood is a nice chap, but he's guessing.

Ain't it funny he only knows stuff after the media report it. He sees the BBC and Sky report done deal and then gently puts a tweet out there as if he has more information than everyone else. He clearly doesn't. He'll have a bit more info than everyone when the club calls him in - if they do hire him again, given that he's starting to fancy himself as an ITK on Twitter - to do some promo shots, but by then everyone will know the story.

I'd be surprised, Simon Stone/the BBC have put their name on this saying the fee has been agreed.

Great news, this! hijacking the deal from Chelsea makes it even better! This guy is a goal machine and can easily replace and most probably surpass Zlatan in terms of goals. Second highest scorer last season, and with him being only 24, of course he will improve. If we create a lot of chances like we did during Decmeber last season, the guy will be there to bang them in. Morata might be the all round better player, but I doubt he could replace Zlatan's output, let alone surpass it. Can't wait for Pogba and him to link up, they seem to be besties off the pitch. Good job, Ed!

No, but see, those are additional things, that's context. The post I replied to merely laughed at the idea that someone could believe Lukaku is not good enough, despite him scoring 25 goals last season.

Will be one of the worst signings in the history of the Football club. This time next year we'll be pining for a new striker.

History..

I wish we had Welbeck instead. I mean he runs a lot and links up play really good and.. stuff..

Certainly does make more sense why we're after a winger of his type, Lukaku needs the service.

His service will probably come more through the middle, pogba is going love having lukaku in front of him.

Morata has a higher ceiling, Lukaku is a safer bet. That's what you're saying?

I more or less agree, probably. Lukaku is unlikely to be a huge flop. He'll probably score a decent amount of goals. My fear is that the quality of our football will suffer (well, not improve) with him.

no one in their right mind would pay 95m for him. 75m is already insane.

Sources for this?

Yes.

Everton won't confirm anything until Lukaku is in a Utd shirt so shouldn't be digging the report too much.

...However, if true, what a fantastic move this would be. A proven EPL striker for many seasons now at £75M or a RM reject at £70M? Only one winner here and it's not even close.

186 appearances
85 goals
42 assists
Worth every penny in comparison to Morata who is A LOT bigger risk at essentially the same price tag. Not to mention, Lukaku is 24 yrs old - the same as Morata.

Zlatan knew all along :D

And for all the pessimists out there who don't think highly of Lukaku (for whatever odd reason), only Aguero has scored more goals (99) in the last 5 EPL seasons than Lukaku (85). Then you compare the City teams Aguero was on those years vs the Everton teams Lukaku was on, a point can easily be made Lukaku got more out of what he had to work with than what Aguero had.

Best of all this would be a huge middle finger to Madrid. The feck outta here trying to recoup a blasphemous amount for Morata and taking the piss. Have fun getting the Mbappe fee from someone else. PLEASE GOD LET THIS MOVE BE TRUE!!!

I'am a fan of United signing belgian players because I'am also belgian but I do worry that as a striker he is too limited in terms of technical skills. Also he often goes missing in the big games. That being said he is PL proven and if he can make 25 for Everton he should be able to make 25 for United. He is also still young and can improve and in terms of physical presence we will not find a bigger beast than him.
