Yeah I agree. Am very conflicted about him though.

We would be mad to pay that rubbish club £100m, he's wanted out publicly and has 2 years left. £65 maximum, I would leave an average offer in and get Riola to the chairs out.

I have posted this before but will post it again for those that missed it: Jose is 'obsessed' with signing the Lukaku according to what Jamie Jackson (I know I know) has said recently.

This guy is target 1 in my opinion.
He's 'bewitched' by Mbappe if you believe Di Marzio. I doubt he's first choice but with Lukaku gagging for a move and Raiola needing more money in his own pocket I wouldn't be too surprised to see us sign him.

I think Mbappe is as we have actually bid for him and Di Marzio said so, and a while back it was said Jose was obsessed with Mbappe too. However, seems clear to me that Mbappe wants to go to Real but just not yet.

If we go for Lukaku, i think Perisic won't happen. Imagine our link up play in the final third with these 2 donkeys passing it to oppo defenders every time we attack  Would be a pretty decent signing though, hopefully we also go all out for Fabinho a left back and competent right winger and i think we'll have a team that can do bits.

I'll be going bald from tearing my hair out watching the Fellaini/Lukaku combo. No thanks.

Our football is ugly enough without adding this 1 dimensional elephant to the mix, if Griezmann isn't coming this gives us a lot of money to test some clubs resolve on better players.

If Everton weren't asking for a ridiculous fee for him I could see this transfer happening. No way are we paying anywhere near £100M for Lukaku. Belotti would be a lot cheaper.

He is a Manchester based journo. He said it on Full Time Devils end of season review.

He doesn't support Utd so has nothing to gain.
Jamie Jackson can be a bit shit when it comes to transfer news. I remember him being adamant that Di Maria wasn't joining then like 48 hours later he signed.

He's one of the worst Journos out there for United. He had a 0% hit rate last Summer, even 16 year olds tweeting from school could have done better.

Can see us just ending up with Lukaku. Seeing as he's no better than Zlatan our attack will still suck.

We don't really need a striker, in my opinion.

Ibra will stay, and we have Rashford and Martial as back up.

For me - and I was hoping Griezmann would play this role, we need a wide forward who will get us 20+ league goals a season, i.e Neymar, Bale, Ronaldo, Messi, etc.

Torino is reported to be holding firm on his release clause, which is 100m EUR, the same as Griezmann. It seems unlikely they can afford to turn down a huge offer of 60-70m though.

:(
You just know we'll be the suckers.
His first touch is horrendous.

When will Ibra be back? Not to mention his age. That's not nearly enough.

Poppy cock. Zlatan is out until January and Rashford/Martial are far from ready to lead the line for us. A big part of our 6th place finish was a lack of taking the goal burden away from Zlatan.

Replacing Ibra with Lukaku will leave us exactly where we are, an inferior version of the player we had last season who has the same need for the entire attack to be catered to him without the technical qualities or hold up play.

Not sure. Rumours are January. Thing is, if we're going to buy a striker then Ibra has to go. No point having him, plus new striker, plus Martial and Rashford.

Ideally, what we need is a player who can play, both on the wing and uptop, hence why I felt Griezmann would have been perfect, and still can be.

We'd have:

Ibrahimvic, Griezmann, Rashford, Martial

Meaning we could play:

Winger Striker Griezmann

Or

Winger Griezmann Winger

If we buy an out and out striker, then we haven't got that luxury.

£100m? I don't see you paying that at all - You'd be better to just give Spurs on offer they can't refuse on Kane.

:lol::lol:

And how will that change if we get a striker? It'll basically be replacing Zlatan and being stuck where we were lasts season. I.e. relying on our striker to carry us. Hence why I said we need a goalscoring winger, as well as a striker if we sell Zlatan.

Mkhitaryan New Striker (Lukaku, Belotti, Mbappe) New Winger (Bale)

We need a striker who can score game after game after game. Only Zlatan was really doing that (and he had a small barren run in between). When replaced by Rashford, we didn't have the killer instinct infront of goal anywhere near as much as we did under Zlatan.

I'm not saying we don't need another winger too. I'm saying we really need a proper striker, especially with Zlatan out. Rashford is nowhere near ready and Martial is a mile off him.

Considering the lack of strikers and AG7 not happening, Lukaku could be the most realistic option. He's young, PL proven and the best part is that Everton has a soft corner for Rooney and he could be used to reduce the price.

If Zlatan was scoring game after game, then why are we in the position we're in? He missed a good amount of chances. What we lack, as you said, is goals in other areas.

To me, the damage was already done before Rashford had come in.

I don't disagree that we need a striker, but only if we get rid of Zlatan. If we were to splash out on Lukaku, for example, then what do we do when Zlatan is back? The guy is 35 and it could possibly be his last season at the highest level, especially after such a nasty injury. He's not going to be wanting to sit on the bench. This is what I'm trying to think about.

We need a striker that plays for the whole attack, not only himself, think your boy Rooney or Tevez, the kind of selfless striker that makes runs just to open up space for a player like Martial or Mkhi to drive into, rather than just runs now and then when they might have a chance to score, this way we'd see an increase across the attacking unit which we are going to need if we are only bringing in one new goal source.

We can't trust Zlatan to carry us in every game. We also can't trust Zlatan to return to full fitness without re-occuring injuries. We also have to replace Zlatan sooner or later.

Martial/Rashford are nowhere near ready. So a number 9 is our biggest priority.

Bingo!

Pretty much. I don't understand how anyone can look at our attack and not realise that we need a lot more than a striker. Zlatan performed that role well enough last year and we still failed in the league.

We need at last two (but probably three) signings up front and a slightly better Benteke shouldn't be one of them.

Totally agree. Add the fact we could be paying up to £100 million for that to.

Must be the worst striker that's ever scored 25 goals in a season going by the opinions in here!
