Yeah I agree. Am very conflicted about him though.
He's 'bewitched' by Mbappe if you believe Di Marzio. I doubt he's first choice but with Lukaku gagging for a move and Raiola needing more money in his own pocket I wouldn't be too surprised to see us sign him.I have posted this before but will post it again for those that missed it: Jose is 'obsessed' with signing the Lukaku according to what Jamie Jackson (I know I know) has said recently.
This guy is target 1 in my opinion.
I think Mbappe is as we have actually bid for him and Di Marzio said so, and a while back it was said Jose was obsessed with Mbappe too. However, seems clear to me that Mbappe wants to go to Real but just not yet.I have posted this before but will post it again for those that missed it: Jose is 'obsessed' with signing the Lukaku according to what Jamie Jackson (I know I know) has said recently.

He is a Manchester based journo. He said it on Full Time Devils end of season review.@Peanut Butter
Is JJ a good source? Also, where did he say that?
Time to finally bring in the Baines?I'll be going bald from tearing my hair out watching the Fellaini/Lukaku combo. No thanks.
Jamie Jackson can be a bit shit when it comes to transfer news. I remember him being adamant that Di Maria wasn't joining then like 48 hours later he signed. He is a Manchester based journo. He said it on Full Time Devils end of season review.
He doesn't support Utd so has nothing to gain.
He's one of the worst Journos out there for United. He had a 0% hit rate last Summer, even 16 year olds tweeting from school could have done better.Jamie Jackson can be a bit shit when it comes to transfer news. Can see us just ending up with Lukaku. Seeing as he's no better than Zlatan our attack will still suck.
Torino is reported to be holding firm on his release clause, which is 100m EUR, the same as Griezmann. It seems unlikely they can afford to turn down a huge offer of 60-70m though. If Everton weren't asking for a ridiculous fee for him I could see this transfer happening. No way are we paying anywhere near £100M for Lukaku. Belotti would be a lot cheaper.
When will Ibra be back? Not to mention his age. That's not nearly enough. We don't really need a striker, in my opinion.
Ibra will stay, and we have Rashford and Martial as back up.
For me - and I was hoping Griezmann would play this role, we need a wide forward who will get us 20+ league goals a season, i.e Neymar, Bale, Ronaldo, Messi, etc.
Forum needs a puke "smiley" for occasions like thisTime to finally bring in the Baines?

Replacing Ibra with Lukaku will leave us exactly where we are, an inferior version of the player we had last season who has the same need for the entire attack to be catered to him without the technical qualities or hold up play.

Poppy cock. Zlatan is out until January and Rashford/Martial are far from ready to lead the line for us. A big part of our 6th place finish was a lack of taking the goal burden away from Zlatan.

And how will that change if we get a striker? It'll basically be replacing Zlatan and being stuck where we were lasts season. I.e. relying on our striker to carry us. Hence why I said we need a goalscoring winger.
We need a striker who can score game after game after game. Only Zlatan was really doing that (and he had a small barren run in between). When replaced by Rashford, we didn't have the killer instinct infront of goal anywhere near as much as we did under Zlatan.
I'm not saying we don't need another winger too. I'm saying we really need a proper striker, especially with Zlatan out. Rashford is nowhere near ready and Martial is a mile off him.

Mkhitaryan New Striker (Lukaku, Belotti, Mbappe) New Winger (Bale)
If Zlatan was scoring game after game, then why are we in the position we're in? He missed a good amount of chances. What we lack, as you said, is goals in other areas.
To me, the damage was already done before Rashford had come in.
I don't disagree that we need a striker, but only if we get rid of Zlatan. If we were to splash out on Lukaku, for example, then what do we do when Zlatan is back? The guy is 35 and it could possibly be his last season at the highest level, especially after such a nasty injury. He's not going to be wanting to sit on the bench. This is what I'm trying to think about.
Bingo!Replacing Ibra with Lukaku will leave us exactly where we are, an inferior version of the player we had last season who has the same need for the entire attack to be catered to him without the technical qualities or hold up play.
