Lack context much?

Obviously I meant he is the poorest among the top strikers in the league. Costa, Aguero, Kane, Sanchez, Ibra, Defoe are all better players than him.

We need to cut Lukaku some slack. He's only 23 and honestly, he's on par with Kane from that group of players you mentioned. Defoe isn't better than Lukaku and he doesn't even deserve to be listed in that group of players. He's getting better with each season. The question is whether he would fit here and lead the line and is able to be a match winner on his own when everyone else is off their game. He definitely has the potential. I actually wouldn't mind taking a punt at him for 50M. Anything higher than that would be crazy but then again we introduced inflation into the transfer market by paying 89M for Pogba who doesn't guarantee 20 goals a season. So Everton are going to milk this and probably ask for 70 odd million for him

He hasn't blown him away but 4 of Kanes 19 goals have been penalties, Lukaku has some amount of goals without taking any penalties. He also has a higher percentage of goals in open player per minute.

+ 4 more assists, and all this whilst playing for a team who are considerably weaker than Spurs.

They are both very talented players but Lukaku's performed better this season imo.

Didn't Kane miss 7 weeks with ankle ligament damage? Is it possible that you're being highly subjective on this point due to being an Eeverton fan?

I'm not super excited about Lukaku either. And didn't Everton turn down a £60m offer for him? If we're paying £70m for a striker he had better be absolute world class.

60 million would get him. For a man with a better record in the league than Ibra that's not bad.

So much wrong about this statement. We introduced inflation? Pogba is also a midfielder and wasn't only bought for his goals.

Didn't Everton pay like 30mil for Lukaku? That's pretty low ball one when subtracting the fee they originally paid (around 70mil profit for both players who is qualified as homegrown). I meant they got 50 mil for just Stones who they sign for dirt cheap & who was a liability than help like Lukaku

Ibra, who is 35, was on a free and has more goals in all comps than Lukaku.

Lukaku scored more goals in the league. Lukaku doesn't even have European matches so why do we need to include "all comp".

Good point. Just realized he's got league only. Still Zlatan is more impressive given his age.

Can't believe this donkey rhetoric is still going when he's been a consistent 1 in 2 striker since the age of 17. The lowest amount of overall goals he's scored for a club in a full season since he started playing pro football is 16 in his first season for us when he was 19/20. I can accept people not rating him as one of the top strikers in the world but this donkey nonsense is stupid.

I remember getting laughed at when I told everyone we would get huge fees for Fellaini and Stones aswell.

Surely you are not going to send double agents in every clubs?

Why?
Ibra is on a lot more money and playing in a better team. If anything lukaku's return is more impressive.

A lot more money is irrelevant since we are a much richer club and it has nothing to do with his play, and even if it did, you'd be hard pressed to ignore that he came here on a free and is contributing far more to the brand value of the club than someone as generic as Lukaku ever would.

Has defoe scored more league goals than lukaku
Of course not, but he's also playing for a team that's really bad. Isn't that what you said? Lukaku's return is more impressive than Ibra's because he's in a "lesser" team. The same would surely apply for Defoe? There's bigger difference between those clubs and Sunderland, than just Manchester United and Everton. Scoring 14 for Sunderland should be more difficult than scoring 19 for Everton by your "logic"?

YES WE DID introduce inflation. Pogba has played well sporadically this season. He hasn't performed to the 90M tag that was paid for him. He hasn't scored enough goals. When you pay 90M for a player like what Real did with Bale and Ronaldo, they are getting their money's worth with goals and assists. Pogba hasn't done so and he's definitely not worth 90M.... more like 50M at best. Hence when you pay 40M extra for a 50M worth player, it's called inflation. And now every good player will be measured with that barometer when we approach clubs.

For instance, when we approach Atheltico Madrid for Griezmann, they are going to ask 90M or more for a player of his capabilities since he's got goals and has performed for the last 3 seasons.

You may say whatever you want but goals end up winning you games and bottom line is Pogba hasn't provided a lot of them directly or indirectly.

Pogba isn't expected to play according to his fee. That's just a perceptual illusion for those gullible enough to equate the two.

Well you do realize that this is going to factor into how much other clubs will demand for their players? We can't possibly be spending 70-90M for every top player out there.

I don't think anyone suggested we are. Only a very select group of players would command that sort of fee.

No? Because clubs are filled with business men who know the fee involves how much money you make from the players marketability.

Scores an awful lot of goals for someone who gets so much stick.

Someone claimed he's worse than Defoe. The amount of nonsense people on here spout is baffling. How can you be so willfully ignorant? :wenger:

I have a serious question for those who follow Lukaku regularly. He scores a lot of goals, but are his goals "important"? Is he a "game changer", can he make decisive goals?

I'm not criticising him, just wondering if he would be good enough to get and I haven't seen him that much to be able to give a fair opinion on his qualities.

Yes he scores important goals, our next highest goal scorer has 4...

He's been involved in 55% of all our goals this season (goals and assists) - 28 out of 51.

Without him I'm not sure where we'd be...

I'm sick of us drawing games or winning 1-0, we need players to put the ball in the net so we can start winning 2/3/4-0.
