Rooney and £60M. Wayne has no worth these daysRooney and cash for him?
With certain midfielders I agree it is hard to compare. Pogbas role in the team is make an impact in the final third of the pitch. He isn't a midfielder who dictates the game nor is he a midfielder like Kante who dominates the opposition with high energy and lots of interceptions and tackles. He has had the freedom to float about making important attacking contributions in the final third of the pitch and he has been very underwhelming. Lukaku on the other hand has directly been involved in more goals than any other player in the league when you add up goals and assists (I think). How do you quantify a midfielders impact on a game? Isn't it subjective? If it's just goals and assists, then by that metric every forward influences game a lot more than any other player. Would you say Jermain Defoe is impacting game on another level too? I would love to know your reasoning behind it.
I know Pogba has been under-whelming this season but some of the posts and comparison on this board are ludicrous, make him sound like he's just your another average midfielder.

Swap for Rooney, I can't wait!
Except Everton?Let's complete the circle with Rooney > Everton. Now everyone's happy.
Hahahah! Good oneIt's okay to say Arsenal and Liverpool mate.
Blind had him in the pocket, either we all agree Blind is a very good central defender, of LLK is just not that good.
We already have a midfield who performs shit in big games against top teams, I do not want another striker to go AWOL against top team as well.
This, we have some of the worst crosser.in world football I think, even the lower teams in the Eredivisie have players who can constantly get the ball on a plate for a striker, we have absolutely no one, maybe Pogba at best but he plays centrally. If we were in for him, we'd also have to find a couple of wide players who can deliver a decent cross.
Our crossing and corners have been awful for ages.
Based on what? That's insulting to Andy Cole.
So Costa to either Atletico Madrid or China and Lukaku to Chelsae? Looks very much possible.
Hopefully we are in for him, should sort the attack for years.
Nah we are getting Lewandowski, it's nailed on. That guy from twitta said so
As good as Belotti has been this is a breakout season and there is that risk that he'll not sustain this level. The likes of Icardi and Lukaku are a little older and have been leading the line upfront for Everton/West Brom + Inter/Sampdoria a lot longer with consistency in goal scoring.Would Chelsea not got for someone like Belotti?
I think if Ibra does intend to go at the end of this season, we could make a move for Lukaku, there aren't many other strikers available who are better than him at the moment. It'll definitely need to be an experienced striker, or someone of some experience if Ibra goes.
You have Belotti, who has had a good season, Icardi who is a maniac, And Lukaku.
I just wonder what will happen to Rashford if someone like Lukaku comes in.
Id rather have Icardi for half the feeIf the money doesn't get spent, people complain we aren't spending and the money just sits around florida doing nothing
I'd rather have Romelu Lukaku
Id rather have Icardi for half the fee
Important updates on the Icardi-Inter-Napoli front. Late last night a meeting took place between the player's entourage and Piero Ausilio, and on the negotiating table was his future with Inter and his contract renewal. As reported by Sky Sport's Andrea Paventi, the last offer presented by Napoli was for €60m plus bonus, which was again rejected

Rashford could then end up as a wide forward ala Neymar. It would be kind exciting to have the pace and skill of Martial and Rashford on either side of Lukaku's power, bring fed by Mhikitaryan as a 10Would Chelsea not got for someone like Belotti?

(day dreams)
Inter rejected big bids for him last summer. IIRC they rejected around 50 Million euros from Napoli.
Edit: From God of transfers:

So roughly half of 90m pounds then
A question to those that watch Lukaku on a regular basis - could Lukaku and Ibrahimovic play together, since Ibra has the playmaking abilities as well? Would it work, i.e. 4-4-2? If so, then this would be the smartest move - use them both till Ibra leaves and Lukaku can hopefully learn a few things from him as well (he's already good but can still) and then take over to lead the line on his own or continue playing with Rashford.
Thanks for the answer. Just thought about it because Ibra used to play with Trezeguet at Juventus - not the same type of player but still. Well then I hope Ibra stays and either wait for a better alternative when Ibra leaves or hope that Rashford will develop enough to take over. I still think that the best idea would be to buy a young striker (for instance, Dolberg or Andre Silva or someone else) and loan them out for 1 or 2 seasons (if they are willing to do this), till Ibra leaves, and then take over. But a loan to a relatively good club in a good league, like Villarreal, Sevilla, Dortmund, Gladbach, Leverkusen, Lazio, Milan or Fiorentina. No, they are much too big to play in a duo and then you add in Pogba behind them in a 2 and we'd be sunk without trace. Ibra needs pace and movement around him, he thrives with Mhki and Mata not with a giant striker in his space with a giant CM also trying to get into the those spaces, plus we need to ditch this 2 man midfield cobblers with Pogba, he's not cut out for the defensive responsibilities.

Yes - if by a lot more you mean £150/200M. Otherwise, they won't sell period. They rejected 60 Million Euros plus bonuses, so that's 52 Million pounds plus bonuses. They will ask lot more than that to sell him.
That was a younger, more athletic, more mobile, different Ibra. Thanks for the answer. Just thought about it because Ibra used to play with Trezeguet at Juventus - not the same type of player but still.
Yes, you're right about Ibra. For a big guy, Lukaku does have a nice pace put it's probably a long shot. Anyway, I'm wondering if Lukaku would like to play for Mourinho? That was a younger, more athletic, more mobile, different Ibra.
But if Lukaku has the energy to move around the whole 90 minutes, i don't see why they couldn't play together. Lukaku has a quite a bit of pace, it's a matter of whether he has the energy levels
Those clubs have no interest in developing kids for other teams. They either have some young prospect they can give playing time to or they play someone with less talent but who's more experienced and better at that moment. Thanks for the answer. I simply don't like the alternatives that are available at the moment, sure Lukaku seems to be good, but I'm not that convinced that he can be the leader the team will need. I hope so, but I'm not sure. But I must admit that I haven't seen him a lot so it's not that fair of me to be too critical. I also do think that he'll cost way too much and it will be the same as the Pogba-situation. People will focus on the fee and expect more than what the players show on the pitch.
I'd prefer it if Dybala could be brought in to help Ibra and Danilo Pereira to help Pogba. Griezmann will maybe stay because of the "sanctions" in Atletico Madrid.
