Do you think we would have got this fella had we got Griezmann?

It's not even 6am in LA yet. I reckon it'll be announced at like 5pm UK time, before they train.

You're not announced yet, you can't train with us. You can watch from the sides, and act as a ballboy/waterboy, though.
:)

Here's my little contribution from the M.E.N. for today.#

United 'want another striker'
The Daily Star claims that United will not be offering Ibrahmovic another deal because Mourinho wants another striker before the end of the window.

That would lead to some intense competition for places.

Even if this happens, it's going to be someone north of 30 who is happy to sit on the bench more often than not. I'd be all for that.

Unless we are changing to a 2 striker formation. Morata would actually work really well together with Romelu I reckon.

I keep hoping that we are still in for Morata, but as the days go by, this seems less and less likely. Feel strongly that Morata was actually our back-up for Griezmann. Seems strange to put in so many bids for Morata when we were already talking to Lukaku since April. Both Morata and Lukaku are good enough and tactically flexible enough to play together I feel.

Edit: will also piss Conte off more if we get Morata as well for our no.7 jersey.

Some concerning stats there but again Zlatan wasnt any better ( superior first touch though)
Not concerned about the when goals were scored, I'm sure there were similar stats like this against Ronaldo a few years ago during the Messi vs. Ronaldo debates.

Not one bit surprised by the running stats, he was always walking whenever the opposition had the ball. I'm no psychic but I think that has to do with him not being particularly assed.

I don't think his build lends itself to changing around. If he's doing the business in an attacking sense I don't really care about his pressing.

Griezmann was Rooney's replacement imo, so this wouldn't have had any effect on that transfer.

It would be interesting to see his running stats against other Keomans teams strikers. Like with LVG he only wanted his striker to occupy the centre backs. I remember Rooney's running stats dropped of by a hugh amount when playing upfront for LVG. I remember an interview posted on this thread (with Henry?) he said Koeman was very specific and wanted him to be more of a target man and where to, otherwise he would be on the bench. So long as he gets himself in the box when the ball goes wide i'm not too concerned, frustrating seeing your striker following your wide player into the channel rather than busting a gut to get into the box.

Yup. Greizmann was never our target to lead the line imo and I'm sure we'll go for him again next season to play behind Lukaku.

Seriously @Summit, Griezmann was NEVER ever in a million years Mourinho's choice to lead the line. This transfer started once Zlatan got injured, and put Griezmann on the back burner, it's as obvious as it gets in football. The target man is the most important player in Mourinho's team, and that's why Griezmann will have to wait.

If not for Atleticos ban i think we would have went for both.

ESPN say they're putting out an interview at 6pm where he reveals his shirt number.

What's the hold up officially announcing it? I'd have thought they'd have done it by now

Probably this

I do think had we signed Griezmann we may of gone with him and Rashford though given the former probably guarantees the goals Lukaku will now bring

We have to be more ambitious than that. We need two world class strikers and rotate when both are fit, or adjust formations to accommodate both when playing weaker opposition. We can't rely on an ageing has been to plug the gap when Lukaku gets injured and he almost certainly will at some point in a long season.

There's a live programme on MUTV @ 6 showing the team training. It would be funny to see him training before it's announced. I think they will probably unveil him on there before they show the training though.

It takes a bit of time to edit the announcement video, I'd imagine.

MUTV have a live show at 6pm called Inside the Tour. I think they will announce it on there.

We will not have two £80m strikers rotating. Not a fecking chance.

Does the club usually show preseason training live on MUTV?

I'm asking this because at 18:00 BST MUTV will be showing preseason training. Maybe there will be a surprise unveiling or something.

It's 08:25 in LA now. My guess is 17:00 BST, 09:00 LA time.

I've based that on absolutely nothing, other than it being fairly soon. :nervous:

I find it hilarious everyone including the player himself announced the deal except the club itself.

Yep they have a programme almost every day called Inside the Tour. They will often show the team training on it. It was cancelled yesterday and replaced with a Farewell to Rooney phone in.
