Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea

Just not a great player and a poor signing by Chelsea. Will always score goals against the likes of Norwich or Watford but he has very little else to offer. Back to Inter in the summer for half the price.

It would be bordering on sabotage if he starts the final but I fear you're right.

It's obvious but yeah, it is what it is. We just have to hope he can get on the end of a cross or something.

Shows how much the Italian league has declined for me.

Ronaldo's decline is comparable too for that matter. 29G + 4A in 33 apps vs whatever he's on now. Think Ibra at 40 (after that bad ligament injury with us) banged in about 15G in Italy.

Jamie lying through his teeth on CBS saying Lukaku scored a lot of goals before the injury

He's barely even doing that now - 3 goals in the last 10 games, most if it not all being starts. They've been against Chesterfield, Al Hilal and Palmeiras.

If it was Arsenal I'd have been confident enough we could have won inspite of his presence (like we did against Spurs) but against Liverpool forget it.

Lukaku went on to break Inter's single season goals record and surpassed Ronaldo9's total goal haul for Inter while winning serie A. He got the move right for himself

He actually scored less goals than Ronaldo in Serie A. Added 7 of his extra goals in the Europa League and about 15 were penalties. Usual Lukaku really, tagging on goals against cannon fodder in between weeks of doing fcuk all.

For the record Inter's all time season record is 35 goals just for Serie A. In 97/98 Ronaldo scored 34 goals overall. In 19/20 Lukaku scored 34 goals overall. He didn't even beat Ronaldo's Serie A single season high of 25 goals, which he did in less games in what was a much tougher league.

Ole might not have got a lot right, but getting rid of Lukaku was one thing he got spot on.

He scored 15 goals from penalties for crying out loud

And he didn’t beat Ronaldo’s record in the league. Despite the league having changed much and become the second highest scoring league in Europe. Icardi scored 29 league goals in 17/18. Lukaku even with penalties never got close to Icardi’s league record.

This needs a bit of context, what are similar stats for other strikers in the league?
Pretty sure a top striker needs more than 28 shots on goal by the end of February to be honest. Can’t see what context this has that lessens the headline for Lukaku

Here you have the successful/unsuccessful touch ratio form 2018, his time at United. Compared to 10 of the big 6 strikers back then. He is doing better than 6 of them on ratio, and 4 players are doing better than him. But he was touching less balls in general. Which suggests an inferior on the ball involvement.

The 2 best teams of the leagues at that time, City and Liverpool see their players having many more touches/90 but 3 of them having inferior ratio to his.

But this is not specific to him. Kai and Werner are averaging the same 1,6 shot per game as Lukaku. Mount, Ziyech and Chilwell are the 3 players with higher shots per game.

Bruno has scored a bunch of penalties for united, who cares? Lukaku made a great individual career choice joining Conte at Inter

Skysports is making fun on him (they also posted it on their site and Youtube). Have never seen a media making fun of a player to that degree. It's like they want to show the world just how BAD Lukaku is. It's not like he missed a penalty in a final.

They'd never do this to Harry Kane even if he went an entire season without scoring.

Yeah. I dont like Lukaku as a player but this is too much, like a smear campaign. SkySports is basically doing this for views. Why are they so butthurt about Lukaku, they are neither Inter nor United.

It's true for many players. Players who lost possession because of unsuccessful touches > shots
B. Silva
ASM
Mane
Pogba
Ivan Toney
Rapinha
Sterling
Mount
G.Jesus
Lucas
Saka
Dennis
Antonio
ESR
Adama
Laca
Firmino
Broja

From other leagues
Nkunku
Fekir
Wirtz
Depay
Vlahovic
Reus
Bellingham
Diaby

And there are plenty more.

Werner hardly starts! A right winger and AM having the same amount of shots is a bit of a shocker as well. Especially when they’re disappointments themselves

I’m using this as a guide, rightly or wrongly

Don't think sky need to do that.

Scapegoating is way over the top, he doesn’t suit our style of play. He's still the same player from Inter last year, in a team playing to his strengths would bang goals in.

On the other hand, it looks like Lewandowski has 56 unsuccessful touches to 117 shots on goal and Benzema has 29 unsuccessful touches to 83 shots on goal.

It's the bad ratio and low volume of shots combo that looks bad for Rom.

Yes, I didn't say every striker averages more unsuccessful touches than the shots they take. It's just that, it's not uncommon to have more unsuccessful touches than shots.

Lewa averages 5 shots per game, he should be non league player to have more unsuccessful touches than that.

Hilarious, maybe I’ll stops hearing from my friends about his “world class hold up play” or “best back to goal striker” etc. The only way you can realistically form that opinion is by never watching him play.

There are loads of decent players in world football that if you built a team around then they would score for fun, I don’t see what Lukaku gets those allowances made for him. He’s just a painfully average footballer and always will be.

If he's able to say he should be spoke about with the best in the world he's able to be criticised.

It's his mouth moreso than his play that's caused the widespread hatred.

Is a little harsh to be fair for that to be from a serious news reporting entity. However he doesn’t help himself. This is a guy who was proclaiming he was in the top five strikers in the world and expecting to be held amongst Messi, Lewandowski etc. He seemed to blame his indifferent season at United on everybody but himself.
If there’s one thing the English press love is knocking someone down off a high horse and hes played right into that with his initial undeserved arrogance and his now spectacular fall.

You don't think he's a bit shit for what he's supposed to be?

Are you stuck with him or will he move in the summer?

The problem is he does it to himself.
