He turned 31 a couple of months ago. He’s like 32 isn’t he? Napoli should be giving them the old ’2 year loan with an option to loan him again maybe’ offer

This is so weird. Is he still a Chelsea player, officially?
This all just feels like a long winded way to get around FFP to me.
Here we go
Lukaku has an insane record of moving for massive money. 300m€ were exchanged for him... Excluding that deal.€45m for someone his age and the wages he’s on? Conte will go and ruin another club and leave them with a shit squad. Lord knows why Napoli went from managers that play great football to this guy.
Vintage Conte signing. Even if Lukaku works for 12 months when Conte invariably storms out of the club they’ll be stuck with Lukaku struggling to sellWhen you arrive at the point of paying 30m for a 31-year-old Lukaku just so you can loan out Osimhen, you've taken an interesting journey as a club.
Of course he was a terrible signing and to be honest to get any fee is a result for the new owners. If the numbers are right €30 million added to the €13.66 million plus add ins is nearer 50% of the fee (€113 million) as opposed to 25% The wages of course are a far different matterFor me, he's the worst transfer in PL history. 97m for a player who, 3 months later, does an unsanctioned interview saying he wants to rejoin his previous club in the near future. Then does feck all for Chelsea for the next 2 and a half years before they eventually ship him off for around a quarter of the fee they bought him for.
Absolute mess of a singing. Chelsea fans should have paid more attention to the red flags from his time at United.

Wouldn’t they have just covered part of his wages? How much have we made on him in loan fees the last 2 years?
€5.8 million last season and €7.86 the season before = €13.66 million I mentionHow much have we made on him in loan fees the last 2 years?
Possibly but the rumour is that last season he re negotiated his wage to get his transfer.Wouldn’t they have just covered part of his wages?
Best rid regardless… never known such a problematic player go for big fees so many times.Possibly but the rumour is that last season he re negotiated his wage to get his transfer.
Highest cumulative transfer fees:
- Neymar
- Romelu Lukaku
- Cristiano Ronaldo
- Ousmane Dembélé
- Álvaro Morata
- Matthijs de Ligt
- João Félix
- Antoine Griezmann
- Philippe Coutinho
- Kylian Mbappé
- Ángel Di María
- Zlatan Ibrahimović
- Enzo Fernández
- Gonzalo Higuaín
- Eden Hazard
- Kai Havertz
- James Rodríguez
- Malcom
- Moisés Caicedo
- Jude Bellingham
The difference in quality between some of those players is truly astonishing.
Makes some sense, you get there by being traded often. Doesn't necessarily mean as a failure but certainly as a player who may have issues to settle somewhere consistently or you had a flop that didn't tarnish the perception of potential. In all honesty, there's more "meh" than great in that list.
It would have been far easier to get rid two years ago.Best rid regardless… never known such a problematic player go for big fees so many times.
yeah. i think de ligt is the only one you can say is a categorical success. In all honesty, there's more "meh" than great in that list.

I don't include add-ons without knowing how achievable they are. It all stems back to Martial's Ballon d'Or clause for meOf course he was a terrible signing and to be honest to get any fee is a result for the new owners. Yep. It's just mental. Unless Osimhen is threatening to injure his teammates or something this just don't make any sense whatsoeverWhen you arrive at the point of paying 30m for a 31-year-old Lukaku just so you can loan out Osimhen, you've taken an interesting journey as a club.

They need his wages off the books desperately, so they go and spunk 30M and 10/11 a year in wages on a 31 year old Lukaku - while not really looking close to selling Osimhen? His wages need to be desperately off the books from what I've read. Don't think they envisioned the lack of spending this summer across Europe. Osimhen wants out though and has no interest in playing for Napoli

Sort of - in January of that title-winning year Costa had his head completely turned by a ludicrously large contract from a Chinese team, so he threw a fit and pushed for the transfer. Chelsea refused to budge and Conte got extremely pissed off - Costa sulked for much of the second half of the year and he was far less effective. Conte didn't want to deal with him again after that so insisted he be sold in the summer.Conte's fetish for Lukaku is a bit odd. Didn't he bin off Diego Costa after he'd just won him the league so he could sign Lukaku? Only to end up with Morata instead.
