Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea

Our reserves could use a reliable goal scorer...

Inter can't afford him. That's the bottom line here.

Inter absolutely could afford him in the wake of the Onana deal - they just don't want to commit 90% of their transfer budget to him having found out he was apparently talking to Juventus literally on the eve of the CL final

Pretty sure they need the Onana money just to keep the lights on, owners are totally skint and they have to operate cash neutrally at worst. They're only offering €30m because that's all they've got...

Or maybe they don’t value him higher than that… 40M (if that’s the asking price) is about 8/year over 5 years… Pretty certain they can afford that, without breaking cash neutrality. They’ve just engaged a similar amount for young unproved Frattesi to replace Brozovic. If Lukaku were really a priority they’d have signed him by now.

I thought players don't "talk" to directly to clubs, instead they leave those financial talks directly to their agents? If so, Inter had no ground to be annoyed because agents talk around all the time? It's literally their job.

If the club gets permission from selling club then they can talk to players.

Ofcourse Inter have every right to be annoyed, they got yes from Lukaku and then they proceeded to negotiate with Chelsea. When they agreed fee, Lukaku stopped responding to calls.

Now they are pissed off and called off the deal. Would be hilarious if Juve fails to sell Vlahovic, he will be stuck with Chelsea.

Pretty sure Inter are the only remaining club that still warms up to him. They are even prepared to spend money on this joker, again. And yet he chose Juve. If Juve ends up being sick of him, all the clubs he has played for end up disliking him.

And at that point surely its the players fault and no one elses. Must be a record or some sort.

I didn't know this part. If so, what a clown!

It's honestly difficult to find a more unlikable high profile player than this dude.

Michael Owen had a good go at this too. A Balon D’Or winner, turned out for 5 different clubs, and not remembered fondly by any of them!

I'd take Vlahovic. At the moment we have Sancho, Martial and Antony (which scares me to think what we are going to achieve with those three as a goalscoring unit...) so I would definitely take Vlahovic if there was any chance.

Probably Maguire, who doesn't help himself by doing something stupid every time he plays
Isn't it more his actions (like cupping the ears after scoring against a minnow nation when in the worst form of his career) and his family abusing people that critisise him that had led to him becoming a meme more than his football ability?

I feel if the likes of him and Lukaku just played their football kept their mouths shut and went home no one would really care to mock them. Just to be clear I don't advocate the personal abuse that crosses the line but in terms of being memes those two have done it to themselves.

I don't think that helps him at all. But if he was playing well overall, I think it would get swept away a bit.

It was surreal last season that every time he was on the pitch he did something ridiculous. I had a friendly bet how long it would take him to do something stupid when he started vs Sevilla this season. If you remember, it was the game he gave the ball away and cost us a goal. Quite early in the match. It didn't get much better after either.

Not a real man? I think you'll find that Lukaku is a grown ass man.
XD

Ok well, in the old-skool retrograde macho lexicon of the Curva Nord ultras, "to be a man" just means to be a principled male human who stands by his actions and can be trusted when giving his word.
Which Lukaku just wasn't in this occasion.

I do wonder about your definition? He comes across as a petulant child.

It was just a reference to something Lukaku said when he was José's undroppable "star" at United. A little bit ironic considering that he is the player who is least able to handle criticism in world football!

Not to mention, he bailed on Mourinho's Chelsea because he didn't fancy himself in competition against Torres and an ageing Eto'o.

Too many awful career choices. He ruined his career.

He really needs someone to make decisions for him.

Really have to wonder how the player who went on a tear up at Everton and looked like he’d go from strength to strength ended up how he has. It’s like he stopped trying.
