Romelu Lukaku | 2015/16 Performances

Feels like he's been around forever. Was banging in goals in 12/13 for West Brom?

slagged him quite a lot in the past, but he's been brilliant recently.

Its not just the goals either. Good hold up play, ability to link with teammates and carving good opportunities out of nothing and working the defense.

I was wrong about him.

I would throw the entirety of our January 2016 transfer budget at him. He's transforming into the beast Chelsea thought he'd become when they splashed all that cash on him as a 17 year old.

He can be as good as a prime Drogba, and the perfect counterfoil for a pacey forward like Martial - winning aerial battles for him to run onto.

He can't track back, the lazy fecker.

Is that a myth or is it sort of scientifically proven that a physical decline is more likely when a player plays a lot of matches at a young age?

Its a myth I'd imagine. There are loads of players who were regulars as teenagers and played well into their 30s. The problem with Michael Owen is he had injury problems and was played through them which made it worse. If the player has no injury problems then playing a lot of matches shouldn't have that negative of an affect. All players will be training every day and playing in reserve/youth matches weekly if they haven't broken through yet. Just making them senior matches isn't going to break someone's body.

More miles on the clock I suppose. Few players who start young have long careers.

Maldini played already at 18 for Milan and Italy and retired at 40 (?). Much depends on one's genes and professionalism though. Both are necessary but not sufficient conditions for longevity.

I can't think of many who've come through at a very young age and have had really long careers - especially players who've done it for top teams most of their careers. If it were the case there'd be more players putting up numbers like Giggs.

It's an issue of intensity. Reserve and youth team is nowhere near first team in terms of physicality. Often these kids will also be playing through injury because they're vital to the team they play for hence being chucked in at 16 or 17.

And whatever you say, professional sport has effects on the body. Footballers finish their careers and most have long term issues with knees or whatever. I'd say more football has to have an impact but there will obviously be exceptions.

As you say, injuries will also have a huge bearing.

He's the type of player who's an exception - obviously very physically fit and also looked after well by the club who seem to know how to keep players playing well into their 30's.

First Everton player to score in 8 consecutive matches since 1954.

It is pathetic how low we are in the table with him in this form. Martinez should be under pressure if we go out in the semi's against City.

It's a shame as i like Martinez but we really should be getting better results than we have lately.

Still not sure how Jose let him go, I am not sure how Everton will keep him after this season. In terms of age and experience he is pretty much the best option available for a quality striker, can see a, 40-50 million move for him in the summer.

I wouldn't even accept 60M. Hopefully Kenwright holds firm when the inevitable transfer request comes.

I'd quite like him at United. Actually I'd love it, he's fantastic. He's only going to get better too.

Like Kane, it would require a near World Record fee to sign him. Premier League clubs no longer need to sell due to the TV money.

They rejected around 40 for Stones didnt they? He wont move unless its an unbelievable price.

It will take a combination of a HUGE fee and him angling for a move for this to happen. Then the pressure of being the world's most expensive striker will inevitably mean he flops. I'd still take him in a heartbeat.

He doesn't strike me as the type who buckles under pressure. He has a stone face and generally plays well even when he's not scoring so it's less risky than signing just a goal scorer.

Hilarious form
