Seemed to have got a lot of stick for not having enough to his game but he's delivering the goods, just scored his 10th goal in the league and his 12th of the season.

He's only 2 months older than Harry Kane but he doesn't seem to get the same recognition as him, he's really been showing great form as of late.

I honestly would love for us to have a punt at him with our current striker situation.

Share your thoughts.

2 very good seasons at his age in 12/13, 13/14 and then an average one last season but now delivering again and he's 22. There's a beast of a striker in him which hasn't been fully unleashed yet IMO.

Amazing how people seem to take Mourinho's opinion as gospel (well used to at least)... as if because he passed on him he's not got it in him to be top quality or something.

I'd take Lukaku over Costa any day.

Think the only other players to have got 50+ PL goals at his age were Ronaldo, Rooney, Fowler and Owen. Plus Lukaku managed it while playing for lesser teams.

Problem for anyone who wants to sign him is the amount Everton paid, they'll look for a massive fee. Suddenly doesn't look like such a bad deal on their part though.

Even last season I think he got a decent amount of goals overall, they just tended to be in Europe rather than the PL.

The evidence is stacking up against him for sure. Chelsea's squad should be so much better right now than it is, Mourinho has made some horrendous judgement calls on players in/out.

If we don't win anything while he is with us it will be a huge opportunity missed. We won't get a striker as good as him for a long time.

Should hit around 20 league goals (25 + in all competitions) this season.

Many didn't like his overall game, but people seem to be warming to him now. I can't think of many other obtainable strikers who have zero question marks over them like him, in terms of their likelihood of scoring goals.
I guess there's a slight question mark over whether he's as suited to the slower European game as Premier League football. But his Europa League record for Everton is good, as was his Champions League record for Anderlecht. And, frankly, he's capable of all sorts of goals.

I actually find him a bit Sturridge-ish, in that having him upfront means that the balls into him don't need to be 100% accurate into feet, because he can turn a poor ball into an assist through his pace and use of his body. It adds a new dimension to an attack, if he's on his game.
I've always found him quite similar to Sturridge anyway, actually.

Sturridge's close control is better than Lukaku but Lukaku has the physical advantage.

Yeah, definitely. And Sturridge has the volley in his locker too.

I just find they take up similar positions, make similar runs, take their shots quite early.
I often see Luakaku's goals, and could imagine Sturridge scoring it the exact same way. And visa versa. But both are very good at turning half-chances/average passes into goals.

Sturridge is a lot better in 1-1 situations with a defender and is a much more composed finisher too.

I only said I found them quite similar. Not that they're exactly the same. :p

I'll be shocked if he is still here at the start of next season. He must be on a lot top teams list with the shortage of top strikers about. I don't even think 50 million be enough to replace him with for Everton.

Didn't Everton pay more than 30 million for him? If he does leave, then they'll expect a nice profit with how he's been playing for them. But 40/50 million for him still seems way too much to me.

I don't know what to think about this guy... One day he's a beast, one day he looks like Wayne Rooney. He seems to be playing really well lately, but did he find consistency or is he only on a good patch of form?

Anyway, he'll be gone in the summer, considering that his agent is Raiola.

He is 22. Still very young and it is expected that he won't be consistent.

Only for his physique he'd be fecked, has the touch of an elephant.

That could be the argument last season but not this. I've said it previously, he doesn't get enough praise imo. He's 21 years old - he's done more than anyone in this league at that age. Compare him to the other top talents in the premier league at the moment that are around 21 - sterling, Memphis etc and he's outperforming all of them in terms of his output. Raheem Sterling cost 50million quid and hasn't done anything near what Lukaku has done. I would absolutely love him here next season.

Still don't feel he's anywhere close enough to a top player technically which is why I wouldn't want him here but hopefully he can continue improving that side of his game.

Sometimes technical ability isn't the be all and end all. The lad is strong and powerful and can score consistently. Put him in any f the top sides in the world and I still think he would guarantee 25 goals a season. (Apart from us, ironically!)

He'd even manage it in this United team, in my opinion. He's one of those strikers who doesn't require precise service or balls to feet constantly. He'd score a good number of goals for any team in the league, quite frankly.

I'd have him ahead of Kane. I'd love him at United. Martinez won't let him go cheap though.

Absolutely. He's a level above Kane, IMO. The money that Levy would want for Kane, we could get Lukaku. Although whether Everton would sell is another story. We would probably need him to push for a transfer, although he's not shy in making it clear that he thinks that he should be at one of the big boys so maybe there is some hope.

Kane's a better target man, better link up player and - on the basis of this and last season - just as prolific. The only thing Lukaku has over him is pace and power.

in your opinion yes.. Lukaku`s great so is Kane but they are different players

Two huge assets in the modern game. One might even aay colossal.

Lukaku would be an awful fit for this United side. Other teams sit back and defend very deep against you, while Lukaku needs space to run behind defences. His first touch has improved and so has his overall game in tight spaces but he still struggles against teams which park the bus, something that keeps happening time and time again for Belgium's national team for example. He's great against teams like Croatia who have some attacking intentions themselves, but is a non-threat against teams like Wales who do nothing else than defend for 90 minutes. Same at the WC, he was poor all around because there was literally no space for him to explore. In that regard, Kane would be a much better fit for United, although I do think Lukaku isn't far off Kane's level. Right now, he'd be great for a team like Dortmund.

Only what, 2 years older than Martial? Achieved rather a bit more.

Bet 36m would have gotten him in the summer too.

He's been a beast all season.

So you're saying you'd preferred we had spent the money on him than Martial?
What is the argument against it? I'm excited by Martial, but who would you rather up top this evening? It has to be Lukaku at this stage of their respective careers.

And Lukaku is barely any older than him too. We could presumably get 5 more peak seasons out of Lukaku, no problem.

I think both today and on August 31st or whever we signed him, Lukaku is a better option than Martial. Obviously we probably had 0 chance to sign him so it doesn't matter, but still. Maybe that won't be true in what...2 seasons? 3?
