Roman Abramovich plans to sell Chelsea | SOLD for £4.25BN

The Cubs currently have $450M in debt. I think it was always their intention to say they wouldn't borrow against the club, but then debt leverage the club.

Ken Griffin probably didn't want to go ahead finally as little way of making money out of this deal and that's what he does.

We'll see with the other bids, Boehly looks promising, need to know what financial resources they're making available and the exact nature of their plans.

Seen a few fellow Chelsea fans of the opinion that Pagliuca will get it. Gone about everything very quietly, and also has large backing behind him, but IMO, his consortium has too many cooks.

Much as i didnt think the Rickett's were out of the running, i think you're right in what you say, but this is partly down to fan opposition too, regardless what they claim in the media

I think under Boehly we'd continue dining at the top table for players, he just has the "win at all costs" [if possible] mentality. But i think he'd also run the club sensibly. He's my pick

Arsenal fan Lewis Hamilton forming part of the consortium looking to buy the club. Thoughts resident Chelsea bunch?

Odd, but if you have an opportunity to get in on a top club, I see why he wants it. Both he and Serena would be pretty small contributors based on their net worth compared to the other names.

I'd imagine there are "fans" of all sorts of clubs in the various consortiums. Kinda meaningless really.

There's a bloke in the Boehly group, a far more senior member of the bid, who is a Spurs fan. Don't think these things matter really.

Just adds an interesting dynamic. Would be strange having a co-owner at United that’s a current City or Liverpool fan.

He'd almost certainly be a small part of the consortium - from what he's described he is more a lover of football than a lover of Arsenal, if that makes sense.

I dunno mate. I’ve just seen a clip of him from a few years ago in full Arsenal kit playing with Arsenal Legends. Saying how its his dream and they are his team etc!

Surely any investment decision would be made by a representative of Hamilton rather than himself. He will have someone who looks after a fund and where they decide to invest will likely by their call.

OGS was as a child. Hamilton still supporting Arsenal now is slightly different no?

Nah, you can't change teams regardless of what you say to the public.

Ole didn't serve you lot badly as a player because he grew up idolising King Kenny (or whoever it was). If Sir Lewis is part of a consortium which ends up owning Chelsea, nobody cares.

No one will care if he still supports Arsenal whilst owning part of Chelsea?

Really?? Missed that somehow! Fair play if so.

That said he's clearly a stand-up guy and someone I'd be proud to have associated with Chelsea personally, regardless of his allegiances!

Whatever floats his boat, but i think that particular consortium are chasing the pack, 3rd faves by a distance

Agreed, which is why I dont see the fuss over Goldstein being a Spurs fan, yet part of Boehly's group.

They aren't going to invest that kind of money to sabotage the club because they support a rival haha. Mental theories on social media, as per

Tony Gale changed teams mind you... was a Chelsea fan, his family might even still be, now die hard Hammer, so he says....

I don't think Arsenal or Chelsea fans will or should care honestly. He's getting close to the end of his F1 career and surely has dozens of people taking care of his investments; This could be a great opportunity for anyone with money. He also said his dad is a Chelsea fan...

Not really, one of the main men that kick started our modern success is a Spurs icon (Hoddle), Busby was at your two biggest rivals as a player. When you get into the game as a living loyalty flies out of the window for the overwhelming majority.

Why has this fecker still got a say? Get him to feck!

He always had a say, and he'll continue to have a say until the sales process is complete. Raine Group are acting on his behalf, at his behest, no? I don't think the government gets involved until this part of the process is done and a winning bid has been chosen.

There’s going to be some top level Tory fcukery around this. Impossible not to be.

The money paid should be in cash and held on display, counted once a week to check it’s all there.

I’m amazed this isn’t sorted yet. Seems counter productive and with the news that Rudiger and Christensen are going surely this needs clarity before the end of the season.

Why would anyone agree to this? This will take all summer imo, every chance investors walk away if this is the bullshit thats happening
The takeover will be done by end of May, id bet my house on it. Was only Tuesday and Weds this week i believe the bidders were at the Bridge putting their final pitches in front of the board. Think Boehly will win, and be in place officially by June 1st.

Absolutely, i think itll be done pretty soon as i posted above, within 4 weeks. Was a report that the bidders were told to expect an announcement Monday

Re. the loan owed to Fordstam mentioned in the piece, if he cant write it off right now, itll be wiped soon as club is sold and he no longer has any ties IMO

If this is true, these lot are in it to make money. Gone are the days of massive spending.
you know Ratcliffe is a ST holder at Chelsea. Also likes Utd mind you. But he's bidding for the club he supports... its like me or you buying Chelsea/Utd

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made a late, sensational bid of more than £4 billion to buy Chelsea. The British billionaire sent the bid to the merchant bank which is conducting the process this morning.

The owner of Ineos, the petrochemicals giant, held discussions with Bruce Buck, the Chelsea chairman only yesterday and has launched a late attempt to beat off three American consortium.

"We put an offer in this morning," Ratcliffe told The Times. "We are the only British bid. Our motives are simply to try and create a very fine club in London. We have no profit motive because we make our money in other ways."

Also wants to invest close to a minimum 2bn into the club/team over a 10yr period. And will send the money to close the deal this weekend if needed....and has also talked with the gov't

I dont understand why hes waited until now
