Roland Garros 2009

Who you all going for?

I still think Del Potro will do it. Don't want him to but yeah, the break will have stopped Fed's momentum.

Hope I'm wrong.

I completely forgot to do the predictions thing. Someone remember to do it for Wimbledon. Round of 16 onwards?

Sure, you'll have to explain what it is though!

BP, come on rogerr.

Bloody hell, this is amazing stuff, he's not going to feck it up now is he?

You just predict the winners for each match from the round of 16 onwards. Point for each one you get right.

TOO GOOD! fecking hell I can't watch this, that could be it.

Well don't really know what to say about that, bad for my ticker this game.

Fed's patience and consistency over the 5 won it.

In other news, Nadal has a battle on to get fit for Wimbledon because of ongoing knee problems. Another Rio Ferdinand - classy but has to be nursed carefully through matches.

Brilliant match.

You get the feeling that Del Potro lost his grip on the match at the start of the fifth set, for reasons of experience and fitness. In a years time he'll be much better equipped to deal with closing a match like that.

As for Federer, he did enough. Once he saw a weakness he took advantage, and you always felt the longer it went on, the more likely he was to win the big points.

Still, he plays Soderling next, who's a very similar player to Del Potro in many ways - big serve and heavy, flat ground-strokes - so he'll have to cope a bit better than he did early on today.

Can't wait for the final now...

Apparently, bizarrely, both of the semifinals were five-setters and both lasted 3hrs, 28 mins.

Women's final soon.

I want Safina to win because I had a Federer/Safina double about a week ago.

I'm looking forward to the final tomorrow. Federer to win in 4 I reckon. Safina to win today.

Kuzy takes the first set in another poor advert for the women's game. They're all so weak mentally.

The serve is almost a disadvantage.

 Safina 'She's such a cheater'.

Still a baby.

EDIT - Actually she might have said 'why am I such a chicken?' She's going to have a breakdown after this, crying now.

Ends with a double fault!

Probably the worst performance by a world number one in a GS final that.

Apart from that, the juniors competition is coming to an end, with a French guy qualified for the final.

... Gianni Mina. Sitting in the front row during his quarterfinal it took me minutes to realize it was not Monfils training prior to his match against Federer.

The girls junior competition has also enabled me to discover big talents such as Kristina Mladenovic, a French of Serbian descent. She'll be playing a Russian teen tomorrow in the final.
