Red Indian Chief Torn Rubber
Thus says Kemo
He isn't good good enough for Brighton. Hence makes zero sense for us
Wasn’t long ago that this man was the red cafe darling. Suddenly has a fall out with De Zerbi and now nobody wants him.
Personally never saw the fuss and I don’t see anyone paying £30m for him. Be interesting to see how Brighton play this.
It was all going so well until your prediction. He did well for us in the main - and his dropping for what was considered a perennial second or third choice, in the form of Jason Steele, was a big shock. Steele was brought in ages ago as third choice behind Maty Ryan and David Button(!) when he joined. Prior to this he had a shocking relegation campaign with Sunderland, as shown in the TV documentary. The turn-around in his career has been quite remarkable.
Sanchez made stupid mistakes though. He was far too casual with the ball at his feet - as if he was trying too hard to look relaxed. Big occasions got to him, culminating in a dreadful dropped catch against our bitter rivals Crystal Palace, which cost us the win.
He did not take getting dropped at all well, despite being allowed to play in the Cup Semi Final, but despite playing well he didn’t regain his place and then subsequently refused to train/be selected on the bench. De Zerbi said “This isn’t the club’s choice, it’s his”.
Steele came in and was frankly superb, especially with his distribution, which once again proved De Zerbi’s selection right. Bad for Sanchez but great for the team as a whole.
The writing was on the wall since then, same as when Sanchez was a surprise choice to suddenly replace Maty Ryan. The signing of Verbruggen to compete with Steele has confirmed Sanchez is going.
The question is, who would want him? He’s a good PL level keeper and still very young. I don’t think he’s good enough to be your #1, and wouldn’t replace any of the top ten side’s keepers. His biggest chance was Spurs to replace Lloris, but that ship has sailed too.
My prediction: you will get Pickford for around £45m, and Everton will sign Sanchez with a promise of being their #1 for around £15-20m.
was literally about to type the same thing. It was all going so well until your prediction.

That's too far back. Even this season, he was the GK during the FA cup semi final and he was elite all game, playing out from the back and cross claiming. He stood out and was just outshone by caicedo. People are just beefing just becoz he is not number 1 following a fallout with the manager. Doesn't change the fact that he actually good and miles better than de gea
It's very interesting to see from a Brighton fan's perspective how this has come to pass. I think most outsiders find it all a bit baffling. Not only how Sanchez fell so out of favour, but how good Steele is with his distribution - thus really putting the final nail in the coffin.Fair play!
This link does feel decidedly mid-table, doesn’t it? He’s Definately not better than DDG.He isn't good good enough for Brighton. Hence makes zero sense for us
Welcome to UnitedBeing willing to fork out £60m for Mount, but not £50m for Onana seems a bit silly imo.
I don't discount every rumor... Just some feel easy to quickly discard (like Kim or Amrabat imo). Doesn't make sense. This one I guess I could see as a backup, but 0 chance as a starter. If he came it'd be to backup de Gea staying, which would be utterly depressing. But close to 0 chance of Sanchez coming to be the starter, and when it comes to backup goalkeeper signings, they are as close to irrelevant signings as there could be.So was Mounts initial tweet from James Olley of ESPN.
Point I’m trying to make is to not rule out everything and always keep a lil bit of belief that something may happen.
That being said, I’d he disappointed with Sanchez. I’d rather Onana
If it gives us more money to spend elsewhere, I would be for it. De gea is still a good shot stopper, but going from Costa to onana to Sanchez is a bit underwhelming. However, we already have the best shot stopper in goal, so it isn't to bad.
We need a keeper with more attitude, a keeper that commands his-area better and most importantly can pass a ball with his feet.
We also need to consider getting a keeper who can make a difference in penalty shoot outs….the margins are tight at the top and this differential should be considered…
Sanchez wasn’t convincing at all at Wembley and this for me is another reason to go the xtra mile for a keeper like Onana…
I think I would rather ask De Gea to stay on reasonable wages than give Brighton 20/ 30m for their third keeper….

I presume you've just woken from a five year coma? However, we already have the best shot stopper in goal, so it isn't to bad.
He's still my darling.
I would prefer Onana, but honestly, I wouldn't mind him here. Things in football are not, as in real life too, just black and white and it is easy to go and say "Ooh, what are we doing, are we gonna replace the golden glove winner with Brighton's third choice !?". But, as crazy as it sounds, I would gladly replace DDG with Sanchez, any day of the week.
The "fact" that he is their third choice is also something that I found partly wrong - signing Verbruggen is their reaction to his fell out with RDZ, not that he was made a third choice by quality selection. His reaction to being dropped for Steele also cemented his status for the remainder of the season but what happened in the last months simply doesn't change his ability as a goalkeeper.
IMO he is a very well-rounded goalkeeper and, despite his fell out with RDZ and the current situation at Brighton, at the age of 25 I still rate him as a top prospect.
For 15mil, it’s a super buy for us!He did well for us in the main - and his dropping for what was considered a perennial second or third choice, in the form of Jason Steele, was a big shock. Oh please no he is shite.

When you say "us", who exactly are you referring to??
I thought you lot are satisfied with Kepa.If it gives us more money to spend elsewhere, I would be for it.
For that sort of price Bento from Brazil would be a better buy.For 15mil, it’s a super buy for us!
I’d prefer Sanchez in goal over De Gea, I’m with you on that.
My issue is he is decent, and only decent. I don’t see him as an elite GK that would elevate enough to warrant spend a significant portion of our budget on. If he was available for £15m then yeah, why not as a stop gap. At £30m I’d rather test Brentford’s resolve for Raya, but really we should just be going for Onana at probably £45m.
He’s quite obviously talking about Manchester United. “We” and “us” are quite common words to use when talking about the football club you support.
